The exterior is finished in Midnight Blue (904) and features a power-operated sunroof with tilt function, rain-sensing wipers, a rear wiper, roof rails, xenon headlights, and fog lights. Chrome accents the lower belt line of the car, bumpers, and grille. The seller notes a spot of corrosion under the rear glass on the hatch as well as some bubbling around the left side wheel arches. The body wears original paint and various scuffs and chips are noted around the body, commensurate with normal use for the age. Detailed photos are provided in the gallery.

@rwarnement I'd love to learn more about your reserve..
Hmmm, seriously? This was all the money. You’d be lucky to get $7500 on the west coast and it wouldn’t have the rust issues of this one. These are fabulous cars, but even decent 4matics can be had here for under $5k. I paid $3750 for my one owner 2000. I love the car! They are really undervalued but that’s the market today.
The reserve was not met.
Did this car sell or was there a reserve not met?
Hmmm didn't see anything about a reserve
Congratulations and MWarner

Rare color indeed! My E320 is also one owner, same year, same color combo, in sedan form, with 20k miles. No Xenons, though. Also in Virginia! (Alexandria). Curious where this one has been serviced as I need a good shop. I inherited mine in 2022 after my Father passed, and have driven it less than 500 miles, so it hasn't required anything. I've read that Don Allen Service Center on Eisenhower Avenue has a good reputation. GLWTS!

You are correct the paint was special order. No fee but a deposit down payment for the car as it would not have been produced for stateside use.
@124guy no doubt someone ordered this.. but unless they ordered something particularly unusual, you don't typically pay a fee just to order a car. "special order" would imply there was something non-standard about the order. To be honest, I thought maybe midnight blue was not a standard color (it goes back decades, which is unusual for any particular shade to remain available over decades). Also, starting in the 90s, MBUSA started to limit the colors you could get stateside... the RoW was offered many more colors. Midnight blue might've been in this category by 2000.
@rwarnement To add to my prior description. What was special was the combination of the paint color, interior and rwd. Mercedes I was told was not generally making this combination for the Norht American market but it could be ordered.
@124guy The car was special ordered from through the Wilmington Delaware Mercedes dealer. The person who ordered it apparently suffered from a dot-com bust setback and opted not to take the car. I was with my wife and kids visiting her parents and happened to drive by the dealer right after it was unloaded. I knew it was special order because we had thought of ordering it ourselves. I stopped in and inquired and was told it was available. I offered the sticker minus the deposit they undoubtedly were keeping and bought it on the spot.
@Bill Not very much at all -- the car has been garage-kept its entire life. There is some bubbling starting around the front left and rear wheel wells and a small area below the rear glass. on the hatch and a small amount near the bottom of the right front wheel well. I made sure that it was noted in the description from the beginning and up close pictures are included in the gallery
@ottobenz Surely anyone who optioned out a S210 with these options rwd and this color had to order it. MB was churning out base spec 4matics in tan by the truck loads.
Beautiful wagon, especially in Midnight blue which is a color that goes waaayy back with Mercedes-Benz. Any idea what was 'special order' about this car (see window sticker)?

How much rust is in the car? I see the rust at the left rear at the wheel well. Is there more rust?

I just sold this car's twin on here a couple weeks ago, same color, one year older, nearly same mileage. And this one is a one owner car which is great! These are amazing cars for sure. Watching this one! Good luck to the seller.
