GregF bid $5,750

@210grim Wow, thanks for correcting me. I had no idea. That’s cool that it’s a stock treatment. I wonder if the wagon could be ordered that way?
I don’t care for the appliqué treatment on the exterior pillars or aftermarket head units, but those minor quibbles aside there is a LOT to like here. This is the lowest mileage W210 wagon I’ve ever seen. Should do well👍
This looks to be a screaming deal, car is just broken in! Congrats @gershom
@Jrad1600 During an auction thoughts pertaining to what you would have done to prep the car should stay in your head, they offer nothing constructive to the auction and they shame the seller. Why do that? Regarding the car, I think this engine tranny combo is one of the most robust in the modern era for MB cars. Did they get a little plasticky in the interior and exterior? Yes. But even so these are incredibly durable and safe and really comfortable cars. My E320 4matic wagon has double the miles of this sedan and it is still mostly squeak and rattle free - just a really solid platform that returns 25mpg on the freeway. Maintenace is DIY friendly and there are hundreds of videos to help you through any project. Parts are inexpensive and readily available. People seem afraid of a cheap MB, but these are every bit as reliable as any Toyota I've ever had. Get them while they are still cheap! Best of luck @seller!
Hmmm, seriously? This was all the money. You’d be lucky to get $7500 on the west coast and it wouldn’t have the rust issues of this one. These are fabulous cars, but even decent 4matics can be had here for under $5k. I paid $3750 for my one owner 2000. I love the car! They are really undervalued but that’s the market today.
@83TDT Perfection is overrated and no fun to actually drive and use as intended. I've had perfect and I sold it - it wasn't worth the ulcers....
I've just come to hear to say to @seller: Excellent presentation! This might be one of the very few times I'd feel totally comfortable buying a site unseen online auction car. You've raised the bar for transparency. Well done and best of luck. If I didn't already have a Benz wagon I'd be all over this. Plus it would look so cool parked next to my 1983 Chiffon Weiss 911SC.
Maybe its the nature of this engine but my 2000 with 200K miles vibrates a bit at idle too. It was much worse before I had the engine mounts replaced, but still vibrates a bit. I don't know if this engine was ever silky smooth at idle, even when new, but at speed there is no vibration at all - really smooth. The mounts wear out over time. An easy way to test to see if mounts are needed is to start the car, put your foot on the brake firmly, put the car in drive and then rev the engine. If the engine twists like it wants to jump out of the car you have your answer - new mounts needed. It'll be pretty obvious if they are shot. Not a huge issue to replace them. Pelican has a DIY video that is helpful.
Great looking wagon! I love my 2000 with over 200k miles. These are some of the best values in the used modern classic market. Get em while they are reasonable. @seller I usually don’t like aftermarket head units in these cars, but the Continental is the perfect choice. In fact all of your upgrade/changes appear perfect to my eye; slightly lowered on monoblocks is so right. Best of luck but I don’t think you’ll need it!
@Koononyou If the Carfax is accurate, and no reason to think it’s not, then yes, Southern CA all it’s life. I’m going to guess that this is pretty clean underneath, but pictures showing axle boots and engine underside would be helpful in evaluating overall condition.
I have a 2000 E320 4matic wagon with a couple more options than this car, and with a whole lot more miles, 200,000!! The point is these cars are incredibly durable if well maintained, easy to work on and the interior leather wears like iron. I too have the Java leather and it looks to be in almost as nice of condition as this one. I picked mine up from the original owner who had all the records for less than the cost of a decent bicycle. I had to replace motor mounts, front axles due to torn boots, front struts, spark plugs, and a few other odds and ends. The car is now a pleasure to drive; smooth, tight and rattle free with good power. Everything works with the exception of one burned bulb in the instrument cluster. The AC is not blowing cold but that may just be a charge or ??? I'll investigate once the weather warms here. Who knows what the actual mileage of this car is, but if it has been maintained it probably doesn't matter at the point. I'm enjoying the driving dynamics and utility of my wagon more than I thought I would. Best of luck with the auction and congrats to whoever wins this one - I think they look amazing in black 👍🏼
@Autocrat I asked back on Feb 22. It's tough to be a bidder on the opposite coast without videos. I'm sure this is a nice car, but don't think I can stay in the bidding with vids.
How about a startup, running and short driving video?
Can anybody speak to the driving differences between a 4matic and regular 2wd? Other than the obvious all wheel drive of the 4matic, what are the pros and cons of each? Thank you all.
Will seller @Flarson be posting any cold start, running and driving videos of the car? I realize it may seem silly to note, but nowhere in the auction writeup does it say that the car actually runs and drives. Does it run and drive properly? Are there any issues with the car that need to be addressed? Has the issue with the AC system been addressed? It appears from the multiple AC recharges/services in a short timeframe that maybe it has a leak or other? Please clarify as I do not want to make any assumptions. For those of us on the west coast, an east coast car usually means a pretty crusty chassis. Can we get pics of the underside to assess the condition? The driver's seat looks to be pretty dry and just starting to show cracking. Have you done anything to treat the leather? As I am on the west coast I need to rely on the pics and videos to determine appropriate bidding. Thank you.
