This 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was purchased new out of Mercedes-Benz Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has since shown registration in Florida, Tennessee, and now resides in Marietta, Georgia with the selling dealer. Finished in Desert Silver Metallic (693) over a Saffron Nappa Leather (234) interior, power is provided by a naturally aspirated 5.0L M113 V8 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. Features include the SL1 AMG Sport styling package, power windows, a power soft top, a power roll bar, and a paint-matched hardtop. The included Carfax report shows 10 pages and 12 service history records. The seller has ensured an oil service has been performed in preparation for the sale. This SL500 shows just under 35k miles on the odometer and is now offered by the selling dealer in Marietta, Georgia with factory literature, tool kit, two keys, and a clean Georgia title.
The car is finished in Desert Silver Metallic (693) and features the desirable SL1 AMG Sport package which includes a sculpted AMG front bumper, side skirts, and a rear apron along with factory 18” staggered AMG wheels showing machined lips and painted faces. This example also features an electric folding black soft top, halogen headlamps and fog lamps, and an automatic antenna. The Carfax shows two minors, one in 2016 and another in 2021. Paint meter readings exhibit original paint on the metal body work however. There are some splits in the soft top plastic windows and the paint-matched hardtop accompanies the car.
Factory 18” staggered AMG wheels are finished in silver paint with machined lips and come wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S-04 tires measuring 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear with 2017 and 2016 date codes. The wheels show in excellent condition with no blemishes and like new painted OEM center caps.
The cabin features seats trimmed in Saffron Nappa Leather (234) with contrasting gray matching dashboard and steering wheel. Blonde burl wood veneer accents on the center console, door panels, and armrest. Brown Mercedes-Benz floor mats cover the tan carpets. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats with position memory, automatic climate control, a factory BOSE head unit with cassette functionality, and an auto-dimming mirror. The driver’s seat shows minimal wear and the original Saffron dyed Nappa leather exhibits no discoloration.
A warm gray leather wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and clock along with gauges for fuel level, instant economy, coolant temperature, and oil temperature. The digital odometer indicates just under 35k miles.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory-rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The included Carfax report shows 10 pages and 12 history records. The seller has ensured an oil service has been performed in preparation for the sale.
The Carfax report lists two minors in 2016 and 2021, but paint meter readings show all the metal work has original paint. Minors can be triggered by light cosmetic mishaps. This SL500 shows just under 35k miles on the odometer and is now offered by the selling dealer in Marietta, Georgia with factory literature, tool kit, two keys, clean underside photos, and a clean Georgia title.
The seller has included the following videos:
The late ‘90s and the very early 2000s had a certain aesthetic about it. Everything was warm. Cinema had a yellow, homey color grading as did automotive brochures and photography. This aesthetic didn’t escape Mercedes-Benz. Fold out the sales brochure of a R129 and the pictures show middle aged successful business men with roaches of iron color hair at their temples with their blonde wives driving down twisty autumn roads in their SL500s wearing scarves and cheshire grins. We like to call this pre-9/11 optimism as the turn of the millennium approached and Germany was putting out some of their best cars. This SL500 was the tailend of that vibe which suddenly died on that fateful September day as the automotive industry careened towards a monochromatic color palette. We have seen this particular example in the flesh before and the Desert Silver Metallic pops with richness and warmth – the paint reminding us of a wealthier Smoke Silver. Saffron Nappa leather interiors don’t hold up well with age but this one seemingly escaped that fate. The big staggered 18” Monoblocks have a butch look from the rear end and the AMG body kit turns this very beige car into something that an athletic, rich Florida housewife who plays sports would own when new.

I keep thinking this color combination is underrated. I love how warm it iis compared to all the silver cars. GLWTA!

As we enter the final hour, please allow us to offer these 2 comments: 1) We are indeed very long-term licensed Georgia dealers (30+ years). Therefore, if you’re a Georgia resident, we will abide by GA law and collect the required 7.0% title tax (TAVT). If you’re a non-Georgia resident, however, we’ll collect precisely $0.00 above your winning bid (i.e., no surprise fees). Please keep in mind that any non-Georgia resident will be 100% responsible to register the car himself in his home state; almost certainly, his home state's DMV will collect sales tax and misc registration fees directly from him. 2) We routinely handle transportation arrangements around the 48 contiguous United States. The Buyer will need to pay for the transportation, of course, but arranging the logistics is a very familiar task to us. Best of luck to the bidders.....and many thanks for your participation! This is the younger fraternal twin to my 1999 SL500. Absolutely beautiful in every way. These are wonderful to drive, and need to be driven. Phenomenally reliable, and the classiest, affordable fun ride out there!

@mickeysoft We do not have the windscreen (air block) or the cover. Everything on the front bumper seems firmly seated and in place. To clarify, Carfax states "minor damage" and not "accident" We do not have any service history other than what is listed on Carfax. The climate control functions as it should (including the AC). There are no known leaks. There is no excessive wear to the driver seat bolster. If you have any other questions, feel free to "Message Seller."
The tow hook cover and temperature probe seem ill fitted. Are they just proud (and need to be firmly inserted) or is the fitting due to one of the accidents? Any service history? Can you include a picture of the inside of the front bumper? Is the air block (black framed see through cloth screen) in the trunk? Is the cover for the air block in the trunk? Photos are not included of this part of the trunk. How cold is the A/C? Does the A/C schroeder valve leak R134a? Any leaks (cam cover, front or rear crankshaft seals, transmission, hydraulics, fuel pump or filter)? No photos.... The seat belt hides the lower driver seat bolster. Is there were on the side bolster? Photo? Thank you for your help.
