This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TDT Wagon is a German-market example that was imported to Arizona in November 1985 and shows 138k miles from new. Finished in Nautical Blue Metallic (929) over Blue Cloth (052), power is provided by a 3.0-liter five-cylinder turbocharged diesel paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a sliding steel sunroof, central locking, automatic climate control, a power passenger-side mirror and a Becker radio. Recent maintenance included a complete inspection and fluid level check along with a new set of Toyo tires and a four-wheel alignment. Complete service history from new is included with the car along with a stamped service booklet. The car is unable to be sold to a buyer in the state of California since it lacks a California compliant emissions label. This diesel-powered wagon is now offered by the selling dealer with the original manufacturer’s literature, service records from new, the factory spare tire and first-aid kit and a clean California title.
The exterior comes finished in Nautical Blue Metallic (929) and features original Euro-spec bumpers along with North American-spec headlights and a chrome roof rack. Additional exterior equipment includes front fog lamps, a power passenger-side door mirror, heated rear window, rear window wiper and a mechanical sliding steel sunroof. The Carfax report shows an accident occurring in 2005 with the seller noting paintwork to the hood. The seller reports that all other body panels wear their original paint with no signs of damage or corrosion.
The 14” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with paint-matched centers and were recently fitted with a new set of Toyo Extensa tires in July 2023 which measure 195/70 on all four corners. A full-size spare is mounted in the rear along with the factory jack.
The cabin is upholstered in Blue Cloth (052) with matching blue vinyl accents on the seats and door panels while Zebrano wood trim lines the center console and dashboard. The wood trim shows no signs of cracking or fading. Interior appointments include automatic climate control, a Becker Grand Prix radio, manual windows, central locking and a split-folding second row. The seller notes that the AC is currently inoperative and cracks can be seen on the upper dash. A third-row bench seat trimmed in blue leather is included with the car.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts analog instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. This six-digit odometer currently shows 138k miles from new.
This S123 is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-five turbodiesel engine which produced 123 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that the glow plugs are weak and that the engine mounts and left outer tie rod will need replacement soon. Service history from new is included and has been documented by the seller in the photo gallery.
The car was imported to Arizona in November 1985 and stayed with the same owner through 2022. The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates along with the aforementioned accident in 2005. This 300TDT is now offered for sale in Burlingame, California with the original manufacturer’s literature, a stamped service booklet, service records from new, and a clean California title.

The W/S123 Wagons have achieved a cult status that seems to truly transcend marques. Their incredibly stout build quality and legendary longevity are masked behind a friendly face that wins approving nods from nearly all perceptive passers-by. While many may chalk this adoration up to nostalgia - sourced of the mind’s eye from those of us who grew up riding in the back of these trusty tri-stars – the 300TDT wagon is more than just a party trick. These loveable long-haulers boast bank vault build quality, timeless styling and everyday economical usability with the OM617; provided you’re not in too much of a hurry, of course. This example hails from Europe and features the European spec bumpers which are far easier on the eyes along with a classic Blue Cloth interior and manual windows. Showing just 138k miles, this S123 is barely broken in and sure to provide many more years of excellence for its lucky new owner.

Final day for this unique European spec 300TD wagon. I encourage all bidders to carefully look at the entire 270 images of the car and the videos so you can bid with confidence. And as MB Market noted last night, the car can't be registered in California. We made a serious effort to register it but it lacks one emissions sticker on the core support. The new owner will receive the AZ title in the name of the owner that imported the car and first registered it in May of 1985 and a bill of sale from the current owner to whom the title was assigned to. The new owner will also receive the extensive service history shown, the excellent original handbook package, the European emergency triangle and the original safety kit. The third seat is shrink wrapped and will be included in the cargo area as shown. This TD wagon will be sold as is, with no warranty implied or otherwise. I'm happy to refer the new owner to a reliable shipping broker to facilitate the out of state delivery. The car is located at my gallery in Burlingame, 5 minutes south of SFO. Be sure to refresh your screen regularly during the last minutes of the auction so you see up to date bidding activity. And as most of you know, any bid placed within the last 2 minutes of the auction resets the auction clock to 2 minutes. Best of luck to all bidders.
@sowmsarvind Thanks for the note. These rubber drains are on both sides of the car. They vent moisture from inside the rocker chambers. Pretty clever.
The seller has learned that the car cannot be sold to a California resident since the car lacks a California compliant emissions label under the hood. The listing description has been updated.
A driving video has been added to the listing along with paint meter readings at the end of the gallery.
What is the drain tube on the driver side towards the middle of the rocker for?

I just got a light ivory wagon but this one would have been a definite must-have had I not! Love the color combo and the cloth interior! Will be watching this one! Good luck to the bidders!
Drool !!! Great color combination. Love the interior !!! Good luck. Dean
Beautiful! I had a positive experience with the seller January 2023. I drove a 1982 300SD from his showroom back to Atlanta without any issues. I bought a nice blue 1985 wagon since then, otherwise I would be bidding confidently.
