This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E is one of 1,596 that was produced for this model year. The seller acquired the car two years ago from the previous owner who owned it for 20 years. The seller has included the following videos:
The 500E/E500 is one of our favorite sedans of all time. There, we said it. You probably think it is true as well if you’re reading this. We’re also Porsche enthusiasts, so the W124.036 is the perfect blend of two Stuttgart brands we revere. The engineering and logistic story behind the car makes them truly special and the performance backs it up. This 500E is such a sweet spot of not having too many miles, is in the right color, and has been combed through by the current owner having fixed all of the niggly little .036 issues that comes with the territory. Wiring harnesses are the biggest enemy of a 500E and one that spooks a lot of buyers if it hasn’t been done. The refinished wheels, quality window tint, good tires (the Continental is the best tire available in that size), new headliner, and mechanical work are huge pluses. Taking a car to a shop to have all of the work done that the owner did on this would be in excess of $10,000 easily. This appears to be a clean example that is turn key and ready to drive with good documentation and provenance. If you’re in the market for a pre-facelift, this is the one.

@benzgarden congrats on the sale! I noticed you might have another E500 in silver in the background. Would you be interested in selling that one? Thanks!Great price! There are always good deals to be had if no contenders show up. Congrats @Locochonbg@Locochonbg - Congrats, will be in touch.Excellent seller with a nicely sorted example. I absolutely love the color combination, exactly like my last 500E which I sold on here last year. The winner today is going to be getting a very nice 500E!I’ve had the pleasure of riding in this extremely nice example. Well maintained, garage kept, provenance solid. Bid with all confidence.$35,000 bid placed by @Locochonbg

@Locochonbg - yes, driver and passenger door pocket vinyl is peeling up at the top. There is a picture that shows the driver side door pocket vinyl peeling up. Can u confirm? Shown in picture Just left bottom of steering wheel.$25,500 bid placed by @Locochonbg
About the VIN stickers. Through USA 1992 model year, all panels had a VIN sticker applied... all 4 doors, fenders, bumpers, hood. However as of 1993 model year, the VIN decals were eliminated except on the bottom of the rear bumper, and on the trunk lid behind the license plate. I believe this change occurred as of the start of 1993 USA model year. Note the silver / blue car on BaT that @ferrari1971 linked to does not have VIN decals on the front fenders. My 1993 500E has no VIN decals on the fenders or doors. Now if an R-DOT decal is present, that does indicate a replacement fender, but I'm not seeing that on @benzgarden's car either.@DanS, the VIN decoder you are using has an inaccurate description for code 664. Option codes have different descriptions based on dates. The "17-inch wheel/tire" description is only valid as of 01-01-1995, and this car was built prior to that date. I would not use the "mbdecoder" link for any VIN decoding. That is not an official MB site, it's not accurate, the codes are not sorted numerically, and it's missing critical data. Use the link the seller provided below. LastVIN pulls directly from the EPC database. This site shows accurate VIN decoding for all Mercedes through about 2017 model year. The description for code 664 is correct (fuel loading for transport to USA): https://www.lastvin.com/vin/Dw1lNd5wenDK2Rkqy 16" wheels were stock/standard on all years E500E production, with the exception of the E500 Limited models that came with 17" Evo wheels standard (but you could optionally order the stock 16" on the Limited, if desired).FYI, I knew the guy Kemal who sold this car back in 2000, I'm from San Antonio. Unfortunately , all I have to say is my suspicions are probably true. I worked with a guy in Dallas who sold 150 mbs a month. This guy Kemal would only buy stuff that had a story. We would wholesale him the stuff we could not run through Mannheim. https://www.ducatimonster.org/threads/kc-international-motorsports-beware.107327/@Ali63 , your rationale makes no sense, since someone has a few nice cars they cannot have a bad one? If you are so confident you buy it and see how you do. I'm not bashing the seller , I like the car I just would like to know what I'm buying. He can easily order a paint meter on amazon for $45 and put a lot of ambiguity to rest. When I had my 1993 Silver/ Blue car , https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mercedes-benz-500e-39/ , it was impossible to sell since it had a prior accident to the passenger quarter panel. The deckled was not even touched.@benzgarden I dont see any wheels on your report. I used the original mb decoder. https://www.mbdecoder.com/decode/WDB1240361B860689@ferrari1971 I missed the part where this car is being presented as a Pebble Beach Concours car (i.e. 32 years old) albeit being extremely well sorted. Seller is a member of 500eboard community where the car has been vetted with a relatively minor "punch list" by forum experts. Judging from the stable and sister E500 can bid with confidence. GLWS.@benzgarden , https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-mercedes-benz-500e-87/ , look at picture# 200 bumper , #236 door jamb , # 240 , #190 trunk , #109 door jamb , #196 hood on passenger side. #203 front bumper . Please look at these photos and you can see what I'am referring to. I'm not sure why they would not be visible, since underneath it looks original. but you are missing the yellow sticker on theft side core support, plus you have sheet metal screws on the right side of the engine compartment which I have not seen before. Those stickers rarely just fall off. The screws on the data plate are silver and should be color keyed.@DanS , they never made a 17in wheel for a USA 500e. These are the correct wheels. @benzgarden, in picture 108 it looks like the shadow in the jam that the paint was feathered there. I would be very interested, but I cannot seem to see any vin stickers inside the engine compartment fenders or hood. Also they are not visible on the bumpers either. What would concern me if they are r-dot decals that have been painted over. There is really no reason to paint over a vin sticker, to refinsh a panel you would only apply color to the outside and clear into the fender. As per the rear glass, I'm not saying it was removed, it is that they painted underneath the rubber moulding. But only seeing it from a computer screen and not having all the information, I'am just guessing. If you could post a detailed video if you cannot get a paint meter that would really help.I visited with the owner and inspected/and drove this car. It performed beautifully and is in excellent cosmetic condition I am not an expert on this model but it drove flawlessly and has obviously been WELL sorted by this very meticulous owner. Overall a beautiful example in my opinion. I’d buy it in a second if I had room for it!@ferrari1971 - #41/42 is some wax residue not rope marks. Rear glass doesn’t look to have ever been removed or the car disassembled etc. If any paint work, it would probably have been years ago and everything looks consistent / correct. Pic #35 - The headlight trim is European light specific so were painted. The car comes with the original headlight trims if you want to convert back to USA lights. I will look for the vin stickers and take pics of the door jams tomorrow. I have requested a shop to take paint meter readings - hoping they can tomorrow.@DanS - I’m not sure which vin decoding site you are using but it’s incorrect. These are the correct 500E original wheels. Experts can confirm. https://www.lastvin.com/vin/Dw1lNd5wenDK2RkqyAccording to the VIN decoder it should have had 17 inch Star model wheels with seven windows. How did it end up having these 16 inch wheels?Have you had a chance to get paint meter readings. In some of the photos the clear coat looks a little thick. In picture #122 you can see where they feathered in the tape line. My guess is most of the car has been painted. Pic #41,42 you can see where they roped the back glass. In pic 35 you can see under the headlight it is a different color, also the rock chips on the bumper are not consistent with the paint in the front of the car. The headlights were changed so you cannot tell from that. It is a very nice car , I'm not 100% but 85% sure. With a paint meter or more close ups of the inner fender and door jams you would be able to tell a little better. In the mid to late 90's I bought 30 -50 cars per month from MBFS off lease for Fletcher Jones In Newport. For whatever reason the Black Pearl paint was always very hard to hide paintwork. Even more so than silver. Being 33 years old and with 95kmi , the interior looks fantastic. I have had a Silver/blue 1993 500e , and would like to get another one. Your 94 e500 looks amazing in the background. I used to live down the street from Madera Concepts and have used them on numerous occasions. They are the best after Bill Rau retired. Also , can you take photos of the vin stickers in the fenders and underneath the front and rear bumpers? This is a really pretty one. Hope it goes to a great home for a price that's great for both seller and buyer!$25,000 bid placed by @PB42
@VIGIL - ASR is working fine, no issues. I will try to get a paint meter and take readings before end of auction. Paint appears to be original. There is also a post on 500E board about the car. Thanks for your interest. https://www.500eboard.co/forums/threads/1993-500e-pearl-black-cream-beige-95kmi-mbm-auction-meridian-ms.21932/#post-315852$20,500 bid placed by @Smcase22
Want to double check and ask if there are any ASR issues with the car? Can be a pain to diagnose -- thank you! A 928, 560SEC, and a 500E is a killer three car solution. Also is the paint original? Didn't see any paint meter readings. Clear coat on 199 can be weak, just wanted to make sure. Thanks you!@NYCdriver thanks for the comment. It’s a turn key car ready for the next owner. I have a facelift version as well. Out of space and can’t keep both. @mcm1997 - free delivery to you.About fell out of my chair when it said that beauty was in Meridian, Miss (Hello from Daphne, AL). That's a car you expect to be for sale in Palm Springs! What an absolute stunner!I have a feeling this might be the nicest 500E on the market right now (if we're talking driver examples)....wow that servicing!Welcome to my 500E auction. Happy to list another car on MBMarket. I purchased this car almost two years ago from an older gentleman who was retired doctor / pilot. He owned it for over 20+ years and did all the work himself on his cars. The car had been parked for 2-3 years next to his 928 and 560SEC. I ended up buying all 3 cars. A simple water pump replacement turned into a lot of “while you are in there”, and ended going through the car entirely. I’m downsizing my car collection and sadly letting this one go as I have another 124036. All common issues and deferred maintenance has been done. I’m around to answer any questions here and on the 500Eboard. Car is available for inspection/ test drives if needed. Good luck bidding. Thanks for the comments and bids so far.$20,000 bid placed by @amusicianslife
