This 2000 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG was purchased new from Mercedes-Benz of Arlington, Virginia and spent most of its time in Maryland until 2017 when it was acquired by the seller. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Black Exclusive leather (521), power is provided by a 5.4-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 18″ AMG Monoblock wheels, a power sunroof, black birdseye maple wood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electric rear sunshade, xenon headlights, COMAND navigation, and power-adjustable heated front seats. In December 2021 the car received an oil and filter change, inspection of all fluids, and new shifter assembly in preparation for the sale. The car is currently located in Honolulu, HI and the seller will provide shipping as far as Arizona at no cost to the buyer. This E55 AMG has only 16k miles and is now offered by the seller with service records since new, manufacturer’s literature, the original window sticker, two sets of floor mats, shipping to the mainland, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Hawaii title.

As the first model year for the updated facelift version of the W210, this E55 features unique bumper covers, sculpted side skirts, dual exhaust outlets, and AMG badging. The body is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) and the provided Carfax report shows no accidents or damage since new. Additional equipment includes xenon headlights, fog lights, and a power-operated sunroof with tilt function. Detailed photos of each panel are viewable in the gallery.

Silver 18″ AMG Monoblock wheels with machined lips wear Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+ tires measuring 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear with 2017 date codes. There are no curb marks or imperfections on the wheels which remain original. Braking power is provided by AMG-engraved calipers at all four corners and dust covers are mounted to protect the wheels.

The cabin is upholstered in Black AMG Exclusive leather (521) on the seats, armrest, steering wheel, and doors. Black birdseye maple veneers accent the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Features include power-adjustable heated front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, a power-operated rear sunshade, factory AMG-branded floor mats underneath all-weather Mercedes floor mats, and an optional COMAND navigation system. The seller notes that the headliner is sagging in the rear. The original Mercedes-branded StarTAC phone was dealer optioned according to the original window sticker and is located in the center console.

The four-spoke multifunction AMG steering wheel frames gray instruments including an AMG-branded 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset digital clock, and a combination gauge with readouts for coolant temperature, fuel level, and ambient temperature. All pixels are in full working order and the digital odometer shows just over 16k miles, approximately 1,500 of which have been added by the seller since 2017.

The 5.4-liter M113 V8 was factory rated at 349 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The most recent service was completed in December 2021 and included an oil and filter change, inspection of all fluids, and replacement of the shifter assembly.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration and service history in Maryland and Hawaii along with 26 service history records. Linear mileage updates are also documented on the Carfax and provided service records.

With limited production numbers, the W210 E55 AMG has become a rare commodity. Enthusiasts today are searching for the perfect car that still maintains a more connected, analog feel while providing speed, style, reliability, and modern day creature comforts. If that isn’t the W210 AMG then we don’t know what is. Many of the surviving examples on the market are well beyond 200k miles and in some cases, are burdened with corrosion issues. This particular E55 has managed to accrue only 16k miles since rolling off the showroom floor and has been cared for by a fellow enthusiast and collector. The naturally aspirated M113 will forever be hailed as one of AMG's most desirable and reliable engines. Back in its day, the E55 was able to compete from a performance standpoint with the likes of the Porsche 911 and Chevrolet Corvette. The only difference was seating for 5 and a comfy, luxurious cabin fit for long trips or the daily commute. Forget the need for unnecessarily expensive brake jobs and sagging air suspension. With service records since new, this E55 has continued to be well-maintained even with such low mileage. Let’s not forget that the seller is graciously offering to pay for shipping stateside from Hawaii as far as Arizona. While we are talking seats, the controls on the doors work fine.  The controls next to the front seats and next to the center armrest do not work.

If it had vented heated/cooled seats, parktronic and active working tele-aid it would be like my 2001 E55. I think my E55 with 18k miles must be just as desirable as this one, at least,  maybe a bit rarer with the options mentioned. I'll be keeping a close eye on this unicorn. GLWA! Beautiful!
