The seller has added a detailed video covering the soft top actuation, cold start, underside tour, walkaround, and driving video:
Only 143 CLK63 AMG Cabriolets were produced for the 2007 production year making these extremely rare cars. The pre-facelift CLK55 AMG had the naturally aspirated M113 making a respectable 362 horsepower and 372 foot-pounds of torque. However, the ground up AMG built M156 introduced in the facelift W209 was a Herculean upgrade. It was a dripping adrenaline needle that harpooned the chest of the W209 giving it over100 horsepower and torque over the older iteration. The 6.2-liter V8 was in another league over the M113 – this was exotic V8 territory and it's a treat that Mercedes-Benz stuck it in the W209. Let us tell you, this is a lot of motor for the A209. We’ve driven a few of these and they are ballistic when you get past 4,000 RPM. With the foldable soft top, you get to hear the baleful roar of the M156 better than any other AMG. We’ve laid eyes and hands on this example and it’s in concourse condition poised to win trophies at any Mercedes-Benz judged show. The lengthy video that accompanies the car combs through its intricacies and the videographer, Stuttgart Steel, struggles to find any faults with this example. After musing about this era of AMG over dinner, all of us at The MB Market agree that these are criminally undervalued compared to the driving experience and engineering they deliver. We will be reading click-bait articles about this era of AMG in ten – fifteen years from now and waxing nostalgia about this being the golden era.

Even at $30k, this is a bargain... Good luck to both the seller and future buyer!Appreciate everyone who participated, Thank you! Alas, RNM and at this level we are inclined to hold on, the car is simply too nice and as we have all come to learn, one of the rarest AMG's in the north American market. NA V8's with 4 seats plus a drop top will never be a thing again based on Mercedes current business model. If anyone would like to chat further, please reach out. @spenclo , my feelings exactly!@manuelfangio_g Everything is up to date/current. We were on the fence for some time with the fish or cut bait, but we serviced the car with fishing in mind. I sadly dropped my crystal ball a while ago, but I Do feel Good about this one. The vibe on this car is a Good, and I've been around my fair share of the opposite to recognize the difference! Is there any deferred or upcoming maintenance that the car would need addressed in the near term, say 3-6 months (e.g., pads,, rotors, hydraulics for roof), etc.? Thanks.$17,250 bid placed by @Huntington
@Cossie16valve Ice cold. AMG gave these enough condenser and evaporator such that when coupled with a Powerful PWM fan that it will keep things cool even in the Hottest of Hotlanta weather..:) All AMG's are of course Firmer, but I'd never call them punishing. Plus, by 'only' running an 18 you still have some sidewall to work with unlike the New New AMG's that are all on rubber band tires/you feel EVERYTHING. This is not that.@55NA Added zinc. M156's run wicked ramps on their cams, and are made a bit Soft by design. They are also flat tappets....this has lead to excessive cam wear and in some cases lobe/lifter failure. The added ZDDP in Most 10/60's is sufficent to provide protection against damage from all of the above. Plus, Redline's base stocks are 2nd to none and you Absolutely run 10K on a crank case full, not that I do, but it's nice to know you Can.$14,900 bid placed by @MezgerDude
@BlueridgeMB Does the A/C blow cold? It's 102 degrees here in Jersey today. Any leaks or need to evacuate and recharge the system? How does the standard suspension ride and handle compared to the AMG tuned Air suspension?Hello, was wondering why you chose 10-W60 oil for the m156? also the car looks very clean.@CoupedUp Thank you, when we purchased the car it looked pretty darn clean which was a definite part of the appeal. IRL was better yet and the thought was to Keep this one but situations change! The next custodian will have a Hell of a car. IF space was a non issue we would hold onto this one. I Don't see who ever buys this as Losing in the long run if they maintain the level of care/upkeep this car enjoyed. :)@manuelfangio_g Good day! As for the tune, we have emissions here in Atlanta catalysts have not been modified in any way so I Believe it will be a non issue. My cars that run the same tune pass every year. Our tune was done in house, it is a tweaked version of Commercially available tune, we have just made some minor improvements during our years of delving into the M156 through and through. You'll like it, it's a bit on the spicy side of things. Not having dyno'd the car I can't say with absolutes what power is sadly.. I can say with out hesitation that it's Strong and Responsive. Really lets this engine Sing. I've been running the same tune on my E and C 63 and I Love it:)Why is it every time I buy a car, another one I love even more pops up on BaT or MB Market??? I bought my first 07 CLK63 2 months ago from an owner in Nashville (I live in Atlanta and my spec is exactly like this one to the T but mine has 90k miles on it). The individual I bought it from (the 2nd owner) owned it 8 years and put 70k miles on the clock. He handed me a stack of invoices from Mercedes Benz of Music City for service and maintenance during his 8 year ownership. I combed through them all and added them up in a spreadsheet and the total came out to $75,000! I bought the car on that point alone, as I don't think there is another high mileage CLK63 out there that is as well sorted and maintained as the one I got lol. The prior owner also replaced the intake manifold as well and was missing the engine builder plaque, so I found that interesting that this one was in the same situation. I haven't driven the CLK but about 100 miles so far as I just don't have time to drive it (I also have a 2011 E63 with the M156 that I drive more frequently) but I just love the styling of this car and agree 100% that they are vastly undervalued. Whoever gets this car will be very happy as you can't beat these "older" AMGs.$13,750 bid placed by @TheBoss

Hi, The car looks to be in great condition and well taken care of. Can you share some more info on the in-house ECU tune that you do? Curious about the power bump, but also curious about how detectable it would be during smog testing.I’ve interacted with a lot of 209 AMGs at this point and this was by far the nicest example I’ve ever played with. Thanks to Jono for letting me have a go at making the media for the listing and for whoever buys this car you will not be disappointed. It’s sooooo clean.$10,000 bid placed by @Huntington

Good afternoon All! Just wanted thank y'all for stopping by. I dare say you would be Very hard pressed to find a cleaner, crisper example of this car. IMHO, they are still undervalued for what you get. Couple of items I'd like to expand upon: The NOS intake on this car is now NLA (No Longer Available) from MB, when it was they were quite proud, around $3600 proud plus labour, a very fortuitous part to have! We run all of our M156's on a true/full synthetic oil, in this case Redline 10/60 which has 1225ppm zinc and 1375ppm phosphorus, couple the superior base stocks and together your camshaft/tappet wear is no longer a concern. We did scope these lobes and they all look As New. On the topic of head bolts, I'm keenly aware of the Internets belief that this is an guaranteed failure, but in our experience it is far, far more the exception vs the norm. We have a fleet of early M156's being put through their paces with north of 100K miles on original bolts. IMHO, proper coolant flushes every 5 or so years also goes a long way towards keeping corrosion under control and bolts subsequently happy. Beyond that, the photos and video speaks of the car and it's condition. Everything works exactly as it should and shows of an example with a fraction of the mileage. If y'all should need an answer to something quickly or would like to chat in depth my mobile is 404.805.1357, ping most any time EST. Enjoy the day and Happy 4th to everyone!
