This 2012 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG P30 example was sold new at Rick Hill Imports of Kingsport, TN in February 2012 at an original price of approximately $210,000 and has resided in the Southern United States since new. It remained with the original owner until its acquisition by the seller in May 2023. It now shows approximately 33,600 miles and is finished in Black (040) over Black (911) exclusive Nappa quilted AMG leather. Power comes from a 6.0L bi-turbo V12 paired with a five-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission delivering 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. This flagship W221 AMG is now offered by the seller with brand new Pirelli tires, two keys, three Mercedes-Benz Headsets, two MB remotes, a clean Carfax report, datacard, factory books & literature, paint protection film on the entire Hood & Mirror Caps, full Modesta ceramic coating on the paint, wheels & glass, a clean Montana title along with a transferrable, bumper-to-bumper, 5-year/100,000 mile CARMAX Maxcare warranty.
Compared to the standard W221 S-Class, the S65 AMG featured a lowered ride height, revised front and rear bumpers, side skirt extensions, unique exterior badging, and a quad-exit exhaust system. This facelifted 2012 example benefitted from LED daytime running lamps on the revised front fascia and LED taillights in the rear. The seller notes that paint appears to be original all around with no indications of prior paintwork and virtually no paint imperfections anywhere on the car. Paint meter readings viewable in the gallery show consisent depth readings throughout.
AMG-modified Active Body Control (ABC) suspension was standard on the S65 and allowed for selectable ride height depending on the driving mode as well as Sport and Comfort settings. The AMG braking system utilizes uprated, AMG-branded, silver multi-piston brake calipers and cross-drilled discs measuring 15.4″ up front and 14.4″ in the rear. The staggered 20″ AMG twin five-spoke forged wheels were removed from the car for ceramic coating and are mounted with brand new Pirelli P-Zero installed in May 2023. An alignment and balance was performed at the same time.
The cabin is trimmed in S65 AMG-exclusive, quilted Black (911) exclusive Nappa leather accented with matching carpets and door panels along with hand-polished Burred Walnut gloss wood trim on the steering wheel, dashboard, door panels and center console. This example is fitted with the following option packages: KeylessGo Package, Driving Assistance Plus package, Light package (FFO), Rear Seat Comfort package, Parking Package, Rear Entertainment package, and Front Seat Package. Notable features include SPLITVIEW, heated and ventilated multi-contour dynamic seats, voice-activated COMAND w/navigation, the Bang & Olufson Premier Sound System, an in-dash CD/DVD changer, SiriusXM satellite radio, factory Bluetooth telephone, full Apple Carplay compatability, Full-Spectrum Distronic PLUS radar cruise control, NightView assist, bi-xenon headlights with active curvelight illumination, two rear entertainment screens w/DVD changer, three headsets and three remotes, Adaptive stop light flashing, TPMS, Attention Assist (Drowsiness Detection), heat insulating & infrared reflecting safety glass all around, heated steering wheel, active dynamic front seats, panoramic glass sliding roof, multi-contour, memory, and climate controlled front and rear seats, rear electric roller blind, electric window blinds for the rear windows, Parktronic parking assist, rear-view camera, blind spot assist, KeylessGo, and more. The original carpeted floor mats as well as a set of OEM Mercedes-Benz all-weather rubber "Hex-mats" are included with the sale. The interior is in virtually new condition and the seats still have the OEM tags from new attached to the headrests. Photos of the tags can be seen in the gallery below.
The hand-stitched, leather-wrapped dashboard houses a central infotainment screen that can be electronically tilted to either the driver or passenger and an IWC Schaffhausen-branded analog clock with the AMG signature molded within the bezel. The steering wheel is equipped with rear-mounted shift paddles and frames a 220-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates approximately 33,600 miles.
The twin-turbocharged and intercooled 6.0-liter V12 was factory-rated at 604 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 738 lb-ft of torque between 2,000-4,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed AMG Speedshift transmission which can be controlled manually via paddles behind the steering wheel. The engine is covered in an AMG-exclusive carbon fiber airbox showing the signature of the single-engine maker emblazoned on a plaque at the center of the airbox.
This S65 recently received an Paint protection film application to the hood, mirror caps and rocker panels in June 2023. At the same time, the car received a full Modesta Ceramic application to the paint, glass, wheels and wheel barrels with a 10-year half life. The seller notes that the paint is virtually free of any notable imperfections and is in exceedingly impressive condition. The car features a custom milled iphone magsafe mount that is attached using two factory screw locations in the dash. The minimalist mount works perfectly for all magsafe capable iPhones and can easily be removed if desired showing no evidence it was ever in place.
This AMG sedan is protected by a transferrable five-year, 100,000-mile “bumper-to-bumper” warranty underwritten by Carmax protecting the vehicle through the earlier of either May 2028 or 100,000 miles. This warranty covers all components and systems on the entire vehicle except for consumables and interior trim wear & tear. A $200 deductible applies to the warranty when serviced at a Mercedes-Benz dealer or other dealer/independent mechanic, or a $150 deductible applies when the car is dropped for service at a Carmax location and subsequently transferred to Mercedes-Benz for repair.
Service indicated on the attached Carfax shows regular dealer service history and linear mileage updates throughout the life of the vehicle. The Carfax shows no damage or accidents and the paint is believed to be 100% original throughout.

@MDPensfan I think so too. I'm totally surprised.

@JNicholson No need to be envious as it could be yours BECAUSE.... I AM PULLING THE RESERVE ON THIS CAR! That's right - this car will find a new owner TODAY! ALSO - for any bidders in the metro ATLANTA area - I am willing to deliver the car there for FREE as I have another MB being serviced in ATL that I need to pick up soon. So I'd be willing to bring it to you in the Atlanta/Alpharetta area (from Savannah) free of charge! Happy Bidding through the final hour and congrats to the soon to be new owner!
These are great cars! I have a 2012 S63 AMG, the V8 version. It is by far one of the best cars I have ever owned. I am envious of and happy for the successful bidder for this car.

We're into the FINAL HOURS of the auction and getting close to the Reserve so there's a very good chance this amazing car will sell today! Thanks to all of the bidders who have participated thus far. I'm here to answer questions throughout the end of the auction if anyone wants to send me a message or comment here. REMINDER TO NEW BIDDERS: The clock resets to 2 minutes with each new bid placed in the sub 2 minute range (this prevents sniping and ensures a fair opportunity for all parties to bid). Also, MAKE SURE your credit card information is updated on The MB Market site!!! Otherwise, your bid will not go through and you could miss out! THEREFORE, If you were waiting to make your FIRST bid in the final minutes, it would be wise to place at least ONE BID in advance to ensure your card is working. It would be a shame to miss out just because of an expired/outdated card. Thanks again and good luck to everyone!!!

It's hard to know what's what in the enthusiast car market these days. Yet I know one thing for sure, if any car is worth all the money, it's this one. It ticks pretty much every possible box with authority, and that warranty is just a mountain of cherries on the Sundae. If it was any color other than black I don't think I could help myself (I've sworn off black cars). But honestly, I have every confidence it will hammer for more than I want to pay anyways, it's just too good. Every S65 you see has some kind of story, usually several. This one has none. As they say, go find another.

@MDPensfan Totally Agreed. I hate to let her go but its sad to let it sit while the warranty ticks away unused.... One more addendum for all bidders: Since Carmax generally doesn't inventory cars that are more than 10 years old, this will most likely be the LAST OPPORTUNITY to buy a W221 S65 AMG with the heralded Maxcare bumper-to-bumper warranty. A lot of enthusiasts - like myself - feel that these 221s are far superior than the tech heavy W222 models and represent the end of an era for flagship V12 MBs. So if you've ever dreamt of daily useable, worry-free S65 ownership, don't miss this opportunity! Thanks for all the bids so far and I'm available to answer any bidder questions between now and Thursday. Good Luck!
I don’t care how fast they make EVs , they will never top this. An S65 is the pinnacle of automotive engineering and design.

A video demonstrating the Apple CarPlay/Magsafe and SPLITVIEW functions has been added to the listing. Thank you.
I shot a quick video demonstrating the APPLE CARPLAY & Custom Magsafe mount functionality in the car. This demonstrates how the OEM functionality is fully retained while total APPLE CARPLAY integration is also featured with this invisible customization. Have a look at the video and let me know if you have further questions. Thanks!
One thing that isn't mentioned in the writeup - but I will have added - is that this car is equipped with SPLITVIEW. One of MBs coolest options in recent years. If you aren't familiar with SPLITVIEW, Mercedes describes it as follows: "SPLITVIEW is an innovative dual-viewing technology that brings a new level of safety and infotainment to motorists. Using the large COMAND screen at the top center of the dashboard, SPLITVIEW allows the driver and front passenger to view two different displays -- in full-screen -- AT THE SAME TIME. For example, the driver can view the navigation system, while on the very same display screen, the passenger (looking from a different angle) is watching a movie. To dramatize this technology, a person sliding across the entire back seat from left to right first sees the navigation map. Approaching the middle of the seat, the screen goes dark, and continuing to the right, the movie image comes into view. An eight-inch COMAND display in the center of the dashboard features a backlit active-matrix TFT-LCD screen. Two sets of pixels can be displayed, and a mask on the screen filters out one set or the other, based on viewing angle. The COMAND controller determines the driver's content, while the passenger uses a dedicated remote control. The passenger also has headphones to ensure the driver isn't distracted by a movie soundtrack." I've also posted a third party video demonstrating SPLITVIEW to be added to the auction as well.

@herlofs There's a few inches of rash on one wheel. Its not much at all....will post more photos of the wheel today. If the original reserve is met/exceeded I'll have it repaired for the winning bidder. I have a great wheel guy here.

@Bankrep40 you would look great in this one!
Peak S65 here that any connoisseur of German V12 bliss needs to experience at least a few times. So many S65's are used hard and a bit unloved, but this one appears to be top of the market. That warrantee is almost as rare as the car itself and worth every penny! Pay well up front for any 65, keep it flawless and the long-term reward is there for these collectable V12's. It's a shame these represent the final era of what Mercedes did best. Buy the good ones while you can.
@jllgd Hello. Thanks for your questions. The cost to transfer the Maxcare warranty is either zero dollars or $50. It depends on the state of residence for the new owner as to whether a charge is required.. In any case, its nominal. (All of this info about Maxcare is available online if you google it, btw) I believe the car had about 31,XXX miles when I purchased it. I would love to post a VMI but I do not have one, unfortunately. If someone can help me get one that would be great haha. I'd be glad to post it! I hope that helps - thanks!
Is the transfer of the 5 year warranty free of charge? How many miles on the vehicle when you purchased it? Can you post a copy of the VMI? Thanks
@Bankrep40 As per my comments below, this is a CARMAX Maxcare warranty. This is the same warranty that Doug Demuro made famous on his Range Rover that paid out tens of thousands via the dealership over his ownership. If you check out my prior comments, you'll see I've previously sold a similar S65 with the same warranty that was easily transferred and dealer utilized, etc. Its a 5-year 100k-mile warranty that would exipire around April/May 2028 or 100k miles. Thanks!
$10,000 bid placed by @TupeloTwin
What company represents the warranty ? Is it from the in service date? How long is left on the warranty
@mikelaca Sure thing. The OEM features exist unaffected by the Carplay unit. In essence, its an android box that is installed in the dash and exists as a ghost interface on top of the existing OEM MB tech. The box is easily removable if one wanted to go back to stock. I have it set to start as Carplay automatically but that setting can be changed. In that instance, just hold the "END" button for calls on the steering wheel for 2+ seconds to switch between OEM functionality and Carplay. Ive owned a few W221s and this is the best integration of useful carplay without sacrificiing any OEM features whatsoever. Again, its easily removable by pulling the disc changer and uninstalling the android-based box...but it works so well, there's no good reason to if you have an iphone. If you only wanted to use it occaisionally, just change the setting to not connect carplay automatically and the car will start up in OEM every time...with the option to use carplay when you hold the "END" button on the steering wheel. Hope that helps! Thanks.
Dear Seller, Can you let me know the make/model and other details of what 'modification' was purchased and installed to add CarPlay to the unit. Did it add additional features (such as Android, more advanced Bluetooth, etc) and did it remove any features from the OEM system such as CD, Aux, DVD, SplitScreen, etc?
Paint meter readings have been added to the gallery.

@Piantanida48 I had an AMG under the Carmax Maxcare warranty a few years ago and can vouch that its a stellar product. I never had any issues with repairs being done at the MB dealer or the hourly rates the dealers charged because there was nowhere else these cars could be reasonably repaired. Modern AMGs are just too complex. I wouldn't hesitate getting another one under Maxcare. Best peace of mind by far for an AMG owner. Good luck to the seller!
Welcome to my S65 AMG auction. I wanted to mention that I had the pads and rotors inspected and measured before I bought the car to make sure they were well within spec and not in need of near-term replacement before I purchased the car in May. I'll see if I can find the measurements but, needless to say, I would have required them to be replaced prior to my purchase if they'd been anywhere close to end of life. So bid confidently knowing there is plenty of life left in the pads/rotors...and a brand new set of Pirelli P-Zeros to melt away at your leisure! :)
@Piantanida48 Note also that I sold my previous warrantied S65 AMG (2010) here a few years ago to a very happy buyer. The warranty was easily transferred and utilized by the new owner without issue. As for this example, I thought I'd keep this one for the long haul but I'm moving back to NYC full time and it doesn't make sense to keep it if I'm not going to be driving very much.... https://thembmarket.com/2010-mercedes-benz-s65-amg-w-35k-miles-and-a-5-year-100k-mile-bumper-to-bumper-warranty
@Piantanida48 Thanks for your question. This is a Carmax Maxcare warranty which is an exclusive (as opposed to inclusive warranty). I'll try to find the contract itself but, as with ALL Maxcare warranties, it covers EVERYTHING except consumables and interior wear items. Consumables being brake pads, etc...things that naturally are consumed by use of the vehicle. The benefit of this type of warranty vs. others is it doesn't need to be included in the contract to be covered, just not EXCLUDED. So, night vision, turbos, complex suspension system components: all covered as they are not consumables or interior wear items. This is the second one I've owned under Maxcare and the warranty has been incredibly beneficial. Moreover, because these cars are so complex, they must be serviced at an MB dealer...so there's no risk in Carmax trying to take on the repairs "in house". They don't even have the necessary STAR system to diagnose, let alone service these beautiful beasts. Thanks!
Can you post photos of the warranty contract and wording.
