This BRABUS AB4 M103 head was purchased new by the seller from BRABUS with the intention of using on a W460 with an M103. It was never installed and is offered as new old stock by the seller in Torrance, California. It features a red valve cover with black BRABUS lettering and a Mercedes emblem, and the complete head including valves, valve springs, and bolts. This head is usable with M103 engines and was initially available from BRABUS for an $8,600 MSRP.
As a never-installed part, the head, valves, and valve springs show no damage or signs of previous use. The valve cover shows some dust and dirt in crevices and the valves show well without bends or issues. This head should be installable for any M103 application and is being offered by the owner in Torrance, California.
The MB Market Insights
Pricing in at more than $8k in the 90's for an M103 power increase is serious business and considering you can't walk into a BRABUS or any of their authorized dealers to grab one makes this a rare red head. Those hunting for one might get lucky on the forums or an international site occaisionally but this real deal BRABUS part is only available here and your M103 could be the first one it's seen.
Head can be picked up in person in Torrence CA or we can ship it. Owned since new by a Mercedes-Benz engineer who races at Goodwood and DTM in Germany.
Hi Folks
The details for this head can be found on the original Brabus literature located here:
https://www.w124performance.com/docs/mb/articles/Brabus_Catalog_1993.pdf
What I was told is that to get max lower 260-285bhp folks would fabricate their own sharp profile cam or have Brabus make one. This would be combined with headers and sometimes Cat removed ( track only ).
However in catalogue it shows head only option for added engine breathability running stock cam and lifters and raising stock bhp to 207.
@hammerthis is a different head than the 3.6 brabus head this is the AB4 and I'm sure it's what you see is what you get so yes it's going to be missing the rockers lifters cam and what not
Extremely rare item, especially in NOS condition. One thing not seen in the pictures or seen being mentioned is the missing camshaft. If the M103 was anything like my 2.6 M102 Brabus head, it was converted to a mechanically adjusted lifter set up.
