This complete Mercedes-Benz Tri-Y exhaust system was manufactured for the 1986-1991 W126 S-Class and was recently ceramic coated in preparation for the sale. This exhaust system was removed from a late model 560SEL with the high output ECE 5.5-liter M117 V8 engine and will fit a 560 W126 sedan as a complete set, but a lot of the parts will fit a coupe such as the rare Tri-Y headers. The headers consist of four separate pieces with part numbers specified below and the EGR valve and covers are also included as well as an AMG Sebring rear muffler. The seller has included the header nuts, flange seals, rubber exhaust hangers, and all the hardware to bolt this system up to a new car with the original hardware included in a Ziplock bag. This rare Mercedes-Benz M117 ECE exhaust system is being auctioned out of Charlotte, NC and the seller is able to assist with worldwide shipping needs for the buyer.
These are not reproduction parts and proper fitment is ensured as an authentic Mercedes-Benz part. The headers alone reportedly can add 25-30 horsepower to a standard US spec 500 or 560 W126. The headers provide a freer flowing manifold compared to the restrictive North American logs. This system reduces backpressure and increases exhaust gas evacuation. The EGR valve is also included along with covers that have been refinished. New copper mounting nuts that screw onto the exhaust studs are included.
The exhaust manifolds, downpipe, and Y-pipe have been recently ceramic coated. They show in good condition with just a few imperfections. The seller has included new flange seals to ensure a seal system upon installation.
The ECE engined cars deleted the twin can lateral resonators for an x-pipe saving weight and unrestricting the system. This then attaches to a rare AMG Sebring muffler at the rear with twin polished AMG tips.
The Tri-Y headers are designed to fit LHD versions of the W126 560 engines. The part numbers are present on each of the four individual pieces and listed below.
PN: 117 142 45 02
PN: 117 142 46 02
PN: 117 142 48 02
PN: 117 142 51 02.
The ECE engines were able to produce 300 horsepower and 330 foot-pounds of torque due to engine modifications and this catless, freeflowing exhaust system. This rare Mercedes-Benz M117 ECE exhaust system is being auctioned out of Charlotte, NC and the seller is able to assist with worldwide shipping needs for the buyer.
We remember trolling through the Benzworld forums in 2009 searching for Mercedes parts and there were usually pieces and parts of ECE engine cars floating around on the classifieds. Nowadays, these parts are exceedingly rare, but to find a complete system with new mounding hardware and in this kind of condition is actually a little crazy to behold. The North American 5.5-liter M117 made a measly 240-ish horsepower and a touch under 290 foot pounds of torque. They were choked out by the restrictive exhaust systems. The North American M117 was an olympic sprinter that could only breathe out of a coffee stirrer. The Euro cars in comparison are rockets with higher compression and could breathe freely using this exhaust system. This is the biggest upgrade you can make with bolt-on parts if you have a W126 if you don’t want to perform eye-wateringly expensive engine upgrades. A kit this complete will not show up anytime soon again. If you can afford it, you just need to buy it.

Hello all. Thank you to everyone who is bidding, commenting and viewing this W126 AMG exhaust system. This exhaust system was removed from a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL AMG from Japan. The vehicle was left-hand drive (LHD, US/ROW specification) and was equipped with the 300 HP RUF M117.968 HV (Hohe Verdichtung / high-compression) engine, option code 822. Additional details: The dual silver piping section with gaskets you can view in the pictures was purpose-built to allow removal of the catalytic converter for testing or offroad purposes. This configuration allows the entire Y/X-pipe assembly to be repositioned forward and connected directly to the original Y-junction flange, if desired. This modification is entirely optional and is included with the system. The rear Sebring AMG muffler is exceptionally rare. It was cut off at the piping only because I had originally intended to keep it and did not plan to sell it. For the winning bidder, I can professionally weld the exhaust piping and disconnect at the factory flanges if needed. Please note: authentic Sebring AMG W126 mufflers are increasingly difficult to find, buyers should be aware that reproduction and counterfeit overseas versions do exist. Final details regarding shipping and/or welding preferences will be discussed directly with the winning bidder or feel free to reach out via the 'Message Seller' feature. Thank you again for your interest. Happy bidding!$2,550 bid placed by @M1174v

Seller, please confirm the tri-y's were removed from a Left Hand Drive 560. Also, the rear AMG muffler appears in nice condition, but is obviously used. Do you have a pic or two of the rear AMG muffler before refinishing? These are famous for rusting through the steel box. Finally, the center exhaust pipes with the crossover - were they also part of the total system that was removed? The rear AMG muffler had the pipes cut instead of undone at the joint. Why were the pipes cut and not simply unbolted from the center section pipes? Appreciate your comments.$550 bid placed by @BD450SL
