Thanks to all participants and congratulations to antonvt! You were there from almost the beginning! We are excited for this beautiful car to find a good new home.
Just under 24 hours to go! Thanks to all bidders and watchers for your interest. If you have any questions or want to chat, see the car in person, or get any additional pictures of anything, please let me know and I’ll do my best to get them to you.
Thanks for the bid Wolfgang! I’ll try to answer your questions as best I can. To the best of my knowledge all major components are original to the car. None have been replaced, including the soft top or any top seals, during my mother-in-laws ownership since 2004. The car was purchased from a specialty dealer and no service history was provided at that time. I researched the tires (Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus} and as far as I can determine they are V rated (max 149 mph). The paint appears original with no signs of repair that can be detected (eg. color mismatch, overspray, wrenched painted bolts, odd panel gaps,, etc.) The soft top is, as it appears, in excellent condition and the seals are intact and are original to current ownership. The AC was converted to R134a before it was purchased in 2004. A label on the cowl under the hood includes that info. Bross Automotive went over the car thoroughly June 2024 and everything he identified was addressed including AC recharge for the first time since purchase in 2004. It was working and cold, but he identified below spec pressure so charged it to spec. All vents work. I have done my best to photo and point out identified scratches and dents in the photos with black arrows. The seat leather is as it appears in the photos. The leather looks and feels new. The description was the MB Market writers not mine. Hope that helps.
Thank you for looking at the listing of this really striking 560 SL.! This is, in my opinion, the most attractive color combination for this car that was made. This was a styling era for the SL that has really retained an ever appealing aesthetic, and this example is in exceptional condition. This car has been kept fully sorted and everything operates as it should. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to chat about it If you would like to arrange to see it in person or even take it out for a test drive. please let me know. I am confident you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks for your bid Hansjorg and your kind compliments on the car. It was great to meet you today!
Was great to meet a German Benz enthusiast today and see his excitement about this car. The color, condition, lack of corrosion, and extensive maintenance history all really Impressed him. It is a striking car in a color combo that just oozes class. Had another fun conversation just an hour ago with a bidder to answer some specific questions. Feel free to reach out if I can help you decide whether or not this solid, clean ride is right for you! My cell is 717-Five 81-Zero 711.
The car is essentially devoid of any corrosion because it has lived in a garage and was rarely driven in winter and never saw salted roads.
@IlovebigtoysThank you for your bid and inquiry! The AC system needed to be recharged (with R12) to assess further so they chose to not pursue further. The AC stopped blowing cold about 2 years ago. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
@Davidsbenz560Made some clarifications. The US spec 420 SEL did not have the hydraulic rear suspension apparently. See the link I found for more information. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjGncPnxub_AhXVkIkEHS64CWsQFnoECDEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2F126board.com%2Fthreads%2Fw126-sls-hydraulic-struts.14081%2F&usg=AOvVaw211sA1uC2H-emEr4Bg4hxC&opi=89978449
@Davidsbenz560Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry for the botched reply. Accidentally posted mid edit on my iPad. No repairs or replacement of the hydraulic rear suspension on record. I will confirm with my father in law. No engine or transmission leaks that can be seen. You may note transmission seal replacements around 120K noted in the service summary folder picture. I have more detail on actual receipts if you would like. There is no indication of any issue with any of the front or rear seat springs. Please let me know if any other questions or any way you could see the car first hand.
No historupy of ant No leaks that I am aware of. No leak
