Exterior features include a power tilt/slide sunroof, an automatic antenna, headlamp wipers with heated washers, a heated rear window and a power passenger-side mirror. 15” Gullideckel wheels have been fitted with a set of Cooper CSS Grand Touring tires measuring 205/65 with 2017 date codes. Minor surface imperfections are visible on the wheels. A full-size spare can be found mounted below the trunk floor along with the original tool kit and factory jack. Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are standard equipment with the ABS system recently receiving service in October 2022. Additional maintenance in April 2022 included new pads and rotors on all four corners as well as a brake fluid flush.
The cabin is trimmed in Blue Leather (262) and features matching blue carpets and floor mats with Zebrano wood trim which lines the center console, dashboard and door panels. The wood trim is in good condition showing no signs of cracking. Both front seats are fully power operated and feature two-position memory for both driver and passenger. Additional interior equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, a 100-watt high-performance audio system and the original Becker Grand Prix radio and cassette player. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames analog instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. A digital outside temperature sensor can be seen mounted centrally along the row of warning lights. The six-digit odometer currently shows 168k miles with 157k miles added by the current owner since 1990.
This W126 is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine which is factory rated for 201 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Extensive service records from an independent specialist shop are included with the car. Underbody photos can be viewed in the photo gallery and show minimal surface rust.

A start-up and driving video has been provided by the seller below.
The W126 in general has aged like a fine wine thanks to Sacco-era styling that is, unmistakably, classic Mercedes. As with each generation of S-class, this top-of-the-line offering from Mercedes is adequately over engineered but - unlike cars from the modern era - not overloaded with electronics; making this generation of Mercedes easy to keep on the road for decades. Throughout the 80’s and early 90’s, the long-wheel-base W126 was a must have for any notable figure worldwide. While vehicles today seem to be somewhat soulless, classic luxury sedans with big V8’s like this are becoming more desirable. This long-wheelbase 420SEL proves that you don’t have to overcomplicate something to make it feel like the best automobile in the world. Cared for by the current owner for the past 33 years, this W126 shows exceptional condition considering its age and mileage and is sure to last many more.

This car is a winner. Besides the non working AC, there is no maintenance backlog. Considering the miles, it's one of the nicest W126 I've seen lately.

Was great to meet a German Benz enthusiast today and see his excitement about this car. The color, condition, lack of corrosion, and extensive maintenance history all really Impressed him. It is a striking car in a color combo that just oozes class. Had another fun conversation just an hour ago with a bidder to answer some specific questions. Feel free to reach out if I can help you decide whether or not this solid, clean ride is right for you! My cell is 717-Five 81-Zero 711.

The car is essentially devoid of any corrosion because it has lived in a garage and was rarely driven in winter and never saw salted roads.
The under carriage of this W126 looks more indicative of a west coast example than an east coast example. Was this car daily driven in the winter or parked in a garage?

@Ilovebigtoys Thank you for your bid and inquiry! The AC system needed to be recharged (with R12) to assess further so they chose to not pursue further. The AC stopped blowing cold about 2 years ago. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Is there an estimate available for a/c repair? How long has the a/c been non-functioning?

@Davidsbenz560 Made some clarifications. The US spec 420 SEL did not have the hydraulic rear suspension apparently. See the link I found for more information. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjGncPnxub_AhXVkIkEHS64CWsQFnoECDEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2F126board.com%2Fthreads%2Fw126-sls-hydraulic-struts.14081%2F&usg=AOvVaw211sA1uC2H-emEr4Bg4hxC&opi=89978449
@Davidsbenz560 Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry for the botched reply. Accidentally posted mid edit on my iPad. No repairs or replacement of the hydraulic rear suspension on record. I will confirm with my father in law. No engine or transmission leaks that can be seen. You may note transmission seal replacements around 120K noted in the service summary folder picture. I have more detail on actual receipts if you would like. There is no indication of any issue with any of the front or rear seat springs. Please let me know if any other questions or any way you could see the car first hand.
No historupy of ant No leaks that I am aware of. No leak
Any repair or replacement on the rear hydraulic suspension? Any oil or trans leaks ? Are the seat springs in tact or broken ?
