This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400E is finished in Black (040) over Black leather (261) and is powered by a 4.2-liter M119 V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes Acceleration Skid Control, a power sunroof, 17″ AMG Aero I wheels, an authentic AMG body kit, automatic climate control, power and heated Recaro Classic C front seats, and a Becker Grand Prix stereo. Maintenance within the past 2-3 years includes all new suspension, new upper and lower wire harnesses, new rear brake pads and rotors, new battery, and an oil and filter service. This W124 now shows 64k kilometers (TMU) and is offered with a recent Carfax report and a clean Montana title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and received a full repaint in 2014 in the original color. A genuine AMG body kit has been installed and includes both front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a ducktail spoiler. All chrome has been powdercoated semi-satin black to match the faces of the wheels and body. Additional features consist of a power sliding sunroof, fog lights, European headlights, headlight wipers, a power-operated antenna, and a heated rear window. An accident on the Carfax in 2014 resulted in a new driver door and at that same time the prior owner had the car repainted due to clearcoat failure.
Authentic 17" Aero I wheels are mounted with new 215/45 Pirelli P-Zero tires showing less than 300 miles since installation. New front brake pads and rotors were installed in 2020 and new rear pads and rotors will be included in the sale. The suspension received a full refresh in 2020 and most recently new Vogtland springs were added. The factory 15″ alloy wheels will also be included if desired by the buyer.
The interior is upholstered in Black leather (261) with matching carpets and burl wood trim adorns the center console, dash, and doors. Recaro Classic C seats have been installed up front which feature working power controls and heat. Amenities include cruise control, automatic climate control, a truck mounted multi-disc CD changer, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo. An authentic AMG steering wheel by Momo has been added and the original steering wheel is also included in the sale.
The four-spoke AMG steering wheel frames a 300kph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and auxillary gauges displaying fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 64k kilometers, and the original gauge cluster is also included with the car which reads 137k miles. The original gauge cluster was swapped less than 300 miles ago.
A walk around video of the car is viewable below.

@Merc2000 ‘s last car sold here is already on my schedule for an AMG driveline transplant later this year and I hope this one comes my way as well! Would be perfect with an M113 or M156, or even a 5.0 M119.

Would you accept Bitcoin? It'd be a devastatingly stupid decision (not to accept it ofc) , but I am getting a woody thinking of this next my black 560 AMG Tribute on air ride... Bravo, seller, bravo... This thing deserves 1.5-2+ BTC
@bigD yes the prior owner replaced everything. I did the springs. Car rides incredibly well (especially for being lowered) zero noises and it's very tight.

@Merc2000 have all suspension/mount bushings been replaced?
@bigD that is the front torsion bar. Could use to be painted. Not structurally an issue. Could also be replaced with aftermarket for better performance. That one is OEM and they're not expensive or hard to replace.

@Merc2000 In pic 145, what is that member that has rot on it on right side of pic?
$32,000 bid placed by @bobgurley
@bigD no I don't know the shop that did the work. There are 3 chips on the trunk clearcoat that will need to be touched up. Other then that the paint is in good shape.
@Mer2000 any signs of paint issues that will need attention. I’m assuming you don’t know the paint shop that did work?
@bigD the car was painted before I bought it so I would estimate ~5 years ago. The detailing was done about a year ago after the kit was finished and installed
Paint was done how long ago @Merc2000 ?
@bigD no coatings on it. It was detailed but with a traditional clay/wax etc. Since the car was detailed its been in storage so the paint looks good. Thank You!
@Merc2000 any ppf or diamond coat to protect paint done?
@Smcase22 thank you! It was a FUN build and more fun to drive. People that know MB and cars in general go nuts when they see it. The winners going to have A LOT of fun :)
Wanted to chime in. This car is absolutely bad ass. If I didn't have a garage full right now I would take this home. Absolutely bad ass car. Best add I've seen on this website. GLWS!

@cmaack25 thanks man! Gotta say its bittersweet on the 300ce. I miss it but love seeing you use it!!! I'm gonna regret selling this one but but similar to the CE they need to be driven, enjoyed and seen in public. Keep the pics comin- I'm sure people love it down there!
@Merc2000 that guy just likes to ask a ton of questions but never buys anything. He definitely did not bid on the 300CE that I bought from you. He just wanted to ask you a bunch of random questions and point out every defect and that a 30 yr old car isn’t perfect. For anyone bidding, this seller is 100% legit. I had a great experience and he is a total professional who knows his stuff.
I realized the other day that I have a pair of replica 500e fiberglass front wings/fenders that I decided not to mount as I like how it looks this way but if someone wants to blow the front out like a 500e I'm going to include them in the sale. Then the only thing is to widen the rear which is the hard part ;)

Regardless of what a fruit has to say, I am going to bid another $500 on this “rust bucket”
That is not the curt reply I was expecting. Any bidder should exercise due diligence and want to see all the photos and videos when bidding on an old car, especially sight unseen and without a test drive. I requested that on both your cars, but unfortunately you were unavailable weekends and I was unavailable weekdays. Sorry you thought it was rude to put you on hold, but I was at work as you know and interrupted by others and made it clear I was sorry to have to call you back. I appreciated your reply and politely requested more info and photos, which frankly most others would have posted at the outset of an auction. Surely anyone would be surprised by the last batch of photos posted a week after a running auction not matching the attention given to the rest of the car. That's the purpose of the comments section to note concerns and request more details or photos if interested, and not to bid blindly. I have gladly answered all questions and provided all disclosures requested whenever any of my cars were being sold. It is disappointing that you took any offense to my observations rather than appreciating the obvious concerns. I most certainly did not mean any offense but rather needed more details before bidding further. By reason of your deflection, I am left to turn my attention to other rust free lower mileage cars. Best regards to all.
$26,000 bid placed by @Safistikated
@Avvocato appreciate the comments. I have owned and do own over a dozen w124's and classic cars of this vintage and i can assure you that rust on the exhaust is normal for an old car and there is nothing unsafe about this car, frame, engine etc. It's unfortunate the amount of my time you've taken up on my auctions via multiple calls (where you rudely put me on hold several times) and demands for information. You also claimed to be a bidder on my 300ce and I don't see any evidence of a bid from you unless you're using another user name. I've spent hours taking photos, speaking with you on the phone and emails where you want to see my car collection in person. At this point Unfortunately I'm not interested in showing you my cars or speaking with you further about any of my auctions or responding to your comments here or in future auctions. It's clear you have some issue with me despite me bending over backwards to answer any and all of your inquires. As far as my cars i would suggest contacting the winner of the 300ce to see how satisifed he is with the description of the 300ce. Thank you and have a good day
What a shame the undercarriage did not receive the same attention as the rest of this nice car. The worst photos were saved for last. Clearly the harsh winters and salted roads of the north east took their toll on this car and there is considerable rust warranting attention and parts replacement as well as serious cleaning and painting to prevent further decay and perhaps accidents. With no time left for personal inspection, I ask the seller to please post photos of the car when acquired and before the AMG body kit was installed and car repainted to show the condition of all body panels and frame. Thank you.

1 day left! Here for any questions- uploaded the copy of the work done to rebuild the head unit, 2 amps and antenna from Becker Autosound in the last 2 photos. Luckily these guys are in my backyard and do amazing work with keeping OEM MB radios/amps/antennas alive! Really great folks that know how to work on these units!

@Avvocato yes I have the underside photos sent to MB market awaiting upload. I will also add more detailed videos of all functioning items. In one of the videos today you can see fully functioning sunroof (open, close, tilt) along with AC/heat along with ac temp, defrost and working buttons on the dash. In addition the video shows functioning directionals and lights/fogs/highbeam. I will take a video of the seat functions tomorrow but confirmed today that all functions work for both sides. Unfortunately I am unable to confirm that the engine s/n matches the data card as the car is an early 1992 build and the stamp is located under the manifold and would require the engine to be removed to view. Here is the data card and i also took a photo of the blank area where the engine stamp moved to later in the 1992 builds (it is blank so the engine S/N must then be in the inaccessible area) if someone knows an easier way to access the earlier stamp location im happy to dig around in there. The items that do NOT function are the horn and the canceling directionals, both of which are both related to the AMG steering wheel. The wire is there for the horn I just couldn't figure out how to retrofit the horn ring to the older wheel. The horn ring from the origional wheel will be included as i know both the horn and the signal cancellation can be retrofit. During the build I also replaced the directional stalk with a new unit. Happy Bidding!
Thanks for posting the videos, but they do not show electric seats, windows, gauges, etc. working. Please confirm what is and is not working. Also please post photos of the chassis, engine and transmission numbers previously requested. Thank you.
Additional videos have been added to the listing.
@Boostin yes I uploaded yesterday and more today (little hooliganisim at the end of one of the vids :) think just waiting on MB market to upload.
Did the other photos and videos get uploaded? I can't seem to find them unless I'm just completely missing something. Thanks

Uploading a bunch of underside photos now along with a cold start, exhaust and brief drive. No issues on the underside other then the radiator support has rusted which ive seen on many of these. I will take a longer driving video and interior function video tomorrow as well. @eddiemax the build took awhile and while I was finishing this one I was also working on a 300ce that just sold here. Unfortunately have gotten too busy now back to the office/travel that I don't have much free time so selling a few MB's that I acquired during COVID. It's a shame really as they should be driven and enjoyed- I just won't have the time for the foreseeable future. Thanks!
Any reason for the lack of milage other than the time to build? Just out of curiosity
@eddiemax I have owned the car for about 2 years and put about 3 - 400 miles on it. The build took the better part of a year and 1/2 of the 2 years. It has been in climate controlled storage for most of my ownership.
How long have you owned the vehicle and how many miles have been under your ownership?
@Avvocato yes similar to my last auction I will post complete photos of engine, transmission s/n, cold start, driving, and underside photos. I do not have the service records prior to my ownership. My understanding from the prior owner (an MB enthusiast) was that all service was complete and up to date. I do have the receipts from the paintwork and all parts added during my ownership. Since the prior work isn't documented if one wanted to replace the maintenance items I would budget for that. There have been no running issues during my ownership at all and to my recollection everything works. Ill confirm via video that all functions work. I will be headed up to my storage facility this week to get all the photos/videos and will post early this week. Happy bidding!
Please post photos of the chassis, VIN and data plates, engine and transmission numbers. Thank you.
Thanks for the disclosures on mileage over 137,000. What if any overhaul has been done on engine and transmission? Were timing chain and tensioners ever serviced? Do you have any maintenance records? Do you have any original paperwork? Please also state if AC, gauges, sunroof, windows, seats, stereo, etc are all working and what is not. Posting videos would be helpful. Thank you.

I have 100k into my AMG 560 Tribute and would trade for this in heartbeat (providing she goes for less than 50k) - I am about 400hp and 60k away from my goal. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast...
Also the AMG fittings that are required inside of the bumpers are installed. These haven't been manufactured in ages and if you had just the kit you can install it but the tops of the bumpers will be wavy without the correct fittings/supports beneath. Those parts are both here. The entire kit (before having everything painted cost more then the car..... :) I also sourced correct (used) euro headlamps with the yellow backgrounds and functioning wipers. I'll upload photos of these as well as pictures of the lights/fogs on. Thanks
@LuisPerezE92 yes everything is genuine AMG. I will add photos of the stamps in each part. All of the parts are AMG OEM and were new when I had them painted along with all MB fasteners/bolts along with the correct foglamps with factory wiring/plugs.
Is the body kit genuine? If I recall, AMG should be stamped on the rear spoiler… could you get pictures of the embossings on the body kit?
A walk around video of the car has been added to the listing.
@eddiemax morning, I don't have photos of the damage. The car was repaired and repainted before I purchased it. My understanding is that the damage happened on the skin of the drivers door. The drivers door was repaired and then later the owner had the entire car resprayed. I have a walk-around video being uploaded now and will have several more videos (driving, start up, underside) to upload as well. The car is straight and carfax lists the damage as minor so from what I can see/tell the drivers door was repaired. I did have to realign the door a bit after I purchased the car.
Any more information on the damage from the accident? Repair receipts or even pictures? A few videos would also be appreciated, the car looks stunning.

@JDubau thank you! Funny I bought the kit 1st knowing how rare they are NOS. I almost put it on my 300e and realized I would HAVE to have a v8 noise with that look. It sounds awesome.. Can't wait to film some vids!
She looks magnificent in her all black evening gown!! Look forward to your video upload to get a taste of those MEC Earthquake exhaust notes. Best of luck with the auction Merc, Cheers.......
Welcome to the auction! Here for any questions and the car can be seen in person! This was a fun build and the car sounds amazing. During the auction I'll upload driving, cold start, walk around videos and get her up on a lift and take photos of the underside. Happy bidding!
