This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300CE 3.4 AMG BRABUS Widebody was originally ordered for the German market and later spent more than a decade in the Japanese market before being imported to the United Kingdom in 2015. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Black Leather (261), power is provided by an AMG-modified 3.4-liter inline-six engine paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission with an Automatic Limited Slip Differential. Factory options for this example include an electric sliding sunroof, air conditioning, a rear roller blind, sports chassis, and the (957) AMG engineering package. This example has been further modified with a BRABUS widebody kit, exhaust, wheels, and Bilstein suspension. It’s believed this is 1 of 25 AMG 3.4L 300CE’s and the only one to wear a BRABUS widebody kit. Notable maintenance performed under the current owner’s care since 2015 includes the replacement of the head gasket, camshaft gaskets, timing cover seal, engine mount, bell housing cover and water pump in 2016. Additionally, new front and rear Bilstein shocks were installed in 2020. This rare C124 currently shows 101,634 km (~62k miles) on the odometer and is offered in Brighton, U.K. with recent service records, import paperwork, manufacturer's literature, two original keys, and a clean U.K. title.
Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199), this coupe features a BRABUS widebody kit, wide front and rear bumpers, and a monochromatic paint scheme. Additional features include a power sliding sunroof with tilt function, OEM European headlights, lower fog lights, and a pillarless window design. The seller notes no prior bodywork, damage, or accidents and the car to be rust-free. The hood ornament has been replaced with a flat badge, the decklid wears a BRABUS badge, and the fenders display BRABUS badging.
This example wears staggered BRABUS Monoblock III 18” 3-piece wheels finished in black with polished lips. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires are mounted showing 235/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear. The wheels show well with no damage noted and wear BRABUS center caps. New Bilstein shocks were installed in 2020.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Leather (261) across the seats, door cards, armrest, and center console. Additionally, black leather trims the aftermarket steering wheel. The dashboard is free from cracks along with the door cards and rear headrests. The retractable seat belt arms for the front seats are both operational and function as intended. Also controlled from the cabin are the rear headrests, power antenna, four power windows, rear roller blind, and the automatic climate control. The center console is trimmed in Burred wood and shows light fading. The factory head unit has been replaced with an Alpine touchscreen and the seats show some light creasing along with light wear on the driver’s seat outside bolster.
The analog odometer shows 101,634 km (~62k miles). Instrumentation includes a 260-kph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure along with an analog clock and digital external temperature gauge.
The 3.4-liter M104 inline-six was rated at 268 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque from AMG, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission with an automatic LSD (limited-slip differential). Notable maintenance performed under the current owner’s care since 2015 includes the replacement of the head gasket, camshaft gaskets, timing cover seal, engine mount, bell housing cover and water pump in 2016.
This rare C124 currently shows 101,634 km (~62k miles) on the odometer and is offered in Brighton, U.K. with recent service records, import paperwork, manufacturer's literature, two original keys, and a clean U.K. title.
Is there a better E-Class than a 1 of 25 3.4L-powered coupe? Arguably, yes when one shows a rare BRABUS widebody kit. This car has gained recent notoriety in Europe as one of the rarest AMG coupes to come out of the 1990’s and has been featured in multiple shows and concours. In 2021 this car was featured at the London Concours and helped set the tone for the Youngtimers Class. This example should be regarded as one of the rarest 124’s we’ve seen and a respectable addition to any collection looking for some pre-merger, period-correct love.

@emretiras, the 5-speed 722.5 transmission was not offered in USA on the 124 chassis, but it was available in ROW (Rest Of World). Datacard linked below shows this was originally delivered with a 722.501, five-speed automatic. https://www.lastvin.com/vin/Yz6Xk2Ra864E1xjL9

Oh how I wish this bad boy was "Stateside" .. GLWTA. Nice car!!!
@emretiras Hi, the W124 300 24 Valve could be ordered with either a 4 or a 5 speed gearbox, I have 4 W124s with a 5 speed gearbox and 9 with a 4 speed box, I used to also have a 5 speed manual, but a lorry decided to write that one off :-( it was my favourite as well. It may well be that what was available in the US at the time was different from what we could order here.
@pab805 Never seen one W124 with 5-speed before and that's why I was surprised. Not only just the shifter and "transmission" is 5-speed, the hood is also from 94-95 (facelift 124) although it's 1992.
I'm pretty sure there's more than just "25" 990/957 3.4 coupes. Do you have any documentation to show this is the only Brabus widebody?
Why has the speedometer cluster been changed? That is definitely not the factory cluster. And that AMG logo, it’s double face taped on and the modern logo.

the W5A 030 ( type 722.5) is basically the same transmission with an additional electrically controlled 5th gear overdrive section attached to the main body in a separate housing; it was available as an extra charge option. This is how I understand it. Its not as reliable but allowed for higher speeds.

5-speed transmission? Is that a swap or was it the original transmission? I thought these were all 4-speed until 1996 with W210 body code.
More under carriage pics would be helpful. UK cars can get pretty rusty.

@Rhinosb I have had several of these cars and they come with either white/clear or orange it depends on which country they were sold in, so I don't thonk there is a standard as such.
@PeterQvortrup White right?
@Rhinosb You mean the indicators should be white or orange or??
Did these not come with clear corners?

ship or plane
If won how would transport to USA work?
As somebody with an amg c124 3.4 widebody with a stick, it is definitely a worthy swap!
@MBFahrer Hi, I thought this was explained in the text, but the car was first sent to AMG for the 3.4 conversion, the engine has the 957 code and then to Brabus for the wide body conversion, including the wheels, exhaust etc. whether it is a good condidate for a manual conversion is not a question I can answer, what I can say is that I have the parts to take it back to a genuine original AMG 300CE 3.4. Peter
@ccutler05 A manual swap would be a great idea.
@MBFahrer I was wondering the same thing. The first time I read the description I thought it to be an AMG car with the Brabus mods added later, but it's not 100% clear. And would it be wrong to think this would be a good candidate for a manual conversion just to add to the uniqueness!?
So it's a Brabus car with an AMG motor? Or is it an AMG car with a Brabus bodykit? Or is it a mashup? Confusing presentation--hopefully not intentionally so.
