This 1997 Mercedes-Benz E420 was first delivered at Mercedes-Benz of Wesley Chapel, Florida June of 1996. The car has remained titled in Florida with the original owner since new. This example is finished in Polar White (149) over Blue Leather (202) cabin. Power comes from a 4.2-liter M119 V8 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. The most recent service includes coolant system flush, new radiator, vacuum pump, battery, fuel filters, air filters, and spark plugs. Features include auto dimming mirror, memory front seats, integrated period correct Cobra RD-5110 radar detector, integrated Mercedes-Benz cellular phone, and a power sunroof. This E420 shows only 100k miles on the odometer and is offered by the seller with the original window sticker, original manufacturer's literature, two keys, two valet keys, radio car with holder, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
The bodywork is finished in Polar White (149) and shows nicely with no rust or corrosion. The seller notes both bumpers were replaced with dealer ordered OEM bumpers to correct a cracked front valance and rock chipped impact strips. The exterior features include exit lights for driver door, front and rear fog lamps, and a power sunroof with tilt function. All the glass on this example is original and shows no signs of cracking, pitting, or delamination. Windshield cowl replacements have been done as well as a full paint correction and graphene ceramic coating. Headlights have been professionally polished and recleared.
Silver-finished 16″ alloy wheels with machined lips measure 16x7.5 on all four corners and are shown with Yokohama Avid Ascent tires measuring 215/55 with 2018 date codes. More than 80 percent tread remains on all four tires having only crossed 5k miles since installation. The car comes with the original spare wheel matching the four mounted in the car. A new windshield fluid washer motor was installed in preparation for the sale.
The cabin is trimmed in Blue Leather (202) across the seats and door cards while Burl Walnut adorns the center console, dashboard, and door trim. Interior features include dual zone automatic climate control, glass sunroof with hard shade covering, Cobra RD-5110 radar detector, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, and an original built-in car phone. The car remains fully original and still retains the factory Becker head unit, original blue carpet floor mats, first aid kit, and original tool kit. All of the Walnut wood shows no cracks or fading and the headliner is in excellent shape lacking any sagging. All interior components operate as intended.
The digital odometer shows 100k original miles. Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and a digital odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, coolant temperature, and a digital readout showing external temperature. A digital clock is also shown with a display for transmission mode and gear.
The quad cam 4.2-liter M119 V8 was rated at 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired with a 722.6 5G-Tronic five-speed automatic transmission. The included Carfax shows some dealer service history with recent services performed by a local independent Mercedes-Benz shop. These services include:
This one owner E420 shows only 100k miles on the odometer from and is offered by the seller with two keys, original manufacturer's literature, original window sticker, recent service records, a clean Carfax showing linear mileage updates, and a clean Florida title.

Do we really need to tell you how we feel about this W210? It’s got a VERY original blue leather interior with only one owner from new and an M119 V8 firmly planted up front. Simply put, it's fantastic. When the W210 debuted, many customers opted in for the M119 over the M104 but rarely were any spec’d out like this one. The M119 was ultra-smooth and provided the perfect amount of muscle for this mid-size luxury sedan. The window sticker, complete key set, and original velour mats help solidify the long-term ownership and reinforce the rarity. Keep in mind the U.S. market didn't get the E55 until 1999 so this E420 was the top tier W210 at the time. There’s no telling how many like this were made or which of those have been fortunate enough to stand the test of time but there's no question the number of examples in this good of condition is extremely low.

Guys, thank you so much for the kind words and all the bids! It’s not about the money but who the car goes to here. I had a chat with @rusart4521 and I’m so glad he’s the new steward of this rare W210. Sorry to everyone that missed out. I had some good conversations with a few of you before it ended. Thanks for attending. I’m hoping in the next moth or so my 57k mile green on tan one owner ‘94 E420 is ready to be posted. Just finished building a wiring harness and getting it buttoned up for auction. Keep your eyes peeled on that one.
I’m so excited - the blue interior just hit me like a ton of bricks!!!! I just couldn’t stop! I’m in Birmingham so the transport cost helped me also…. Thank you to all bidders for a clean and highly competitive auction!!!
@markholthoff oops, sorry my eyes are still blurry from all the tears since the close! Congrats @rusart4521
@mbfan2024 I wish! Sadly for me, @rusart4521 ended up on top!
@Stuggart_Steel, you run the best auctions on this site, by a mile. I ***REALLY*** wanted this one, but congrats to @markholthoff for taking it home. Amazing car.
Shoutout to @Stuttgart_Steel for a well-run auction!
Good luck everyone! I'll be chatting with one of you soon -- little tied up with work so I might call in about an hour.

Where is the vehicle currently located?
@coastal8 Gotta mark your territory.
I'm genuinely afraid to bid on this for fear of starting another run. you guys are ruthless here.
I made a quick pre-purchase inspection video of the underside for the interested parties. Really trying my best to accurately represent the car for the sight unseen bidders. See you all tomorrow.

Understood - thank you for clarifying! :)
@gsxr Hey! I’m helping sell this car on behalf of the client and original owner. I personally have her title in my safe at home signed and ready to go. I’ve helped a few people do this on this profile before. Just handling the sale and recondition since I know how the navigate this sphere and work on these cars. P.S. Thanks for all your comments and insights on the 500E board over the years. You’ve answered a lot of my questions based on old posts I’ve referenced in the past.
Stuttgart_Steel, just to confirm - you personally purchased this car new in May 1996?
I can’t find any comps with a blue leather interior that have sold before. What a weird find. Seems like Euro cars pretty much got blue interiors but a lot were cloth.

Glad to see MB enthusiasts appreciate this thing. Cool interiors and rare interior colors are in vogue right now. See weird Porsche interiors as well as BMW interiors that are uncommon. They all seem to beckon collector values as they age. Market trends definitely aim at this becoming a future collectable.
This is VERY cool to see!

Just to clarify for others since I'm getting messages about it: the yellow oily stuff on the valve covers in the engine bay is not leaking engine oil or grime. That is factory cosmoline from day one when the car was assembled in Sindelfingen. It's a protective coating sprayed on during assembly when new. You'll spot it in the engine bay and also underneath the car and in the wheel wells.

@tcstraker All good! Smell is important to me on any car. I can tell you that this smells close to factory. There was never any sort of air fresheners used ever on this car. It has that particular blue dye leather smell you get with navy Mercedes interiors. And since this is a pre-facelift W210, the leather quality is way better than a later car so it has a whiff of W124 in it. It's really pleasant and clean.
@stuttgart_steel apologies. Watched the video where you said no smells ;)
@stuttgart_steel any smoker Smells or pet odors? Thanks!
Just to clarify that this car does not have a biodegradable wiring harness. That was an issue on earlier models primarily in 94-95 seen on W140s, R129s, and W124s. Again, feel free to ask any questions. I’ll be here.

Welcome to the auction of this lovely E420 W210 featuring the venerable M119 quad cam V8 power plant that was carried over from the W124 and W140. I'm extremely pleased to feature this car on The MB Market in this extremely rare color combination and in wonderful condition showing one owner history with window sticker and service records. Paint meter readings and underside pictures will be getting uploaded here shortly, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, please flip through the gallery and watch the video. Both go into great detail on the condition of this example and how it is like to drive. PM me or comment with any questions. More than happy to have a phone call or Facetime or supply any supplementary photos/videos for concerning bidders. The car shows as nicely in person as it does in photos. And who doesn't love a blue interior?!
