This 2005 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG was sold new and registered in Illinois where it remained with the first owner through 2007. It was traded back to the selling dealer in Illinois and sold Certified Pre-Owned to the second owner who kept the car through 2018. Since, the current owner has added approximately 20k miles. The C55 has received dealer service from new and shows 56k original miles. Finished in Mars Red (590) over Black Leather (841), it’s powered by a 5.4-liter AMG-tuned M113 V8 paired with a five-speed AMG SpeedShift automatic transmission. Features include Xenon headlamps, heated AMG sport seats, a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming mirrors and a Harman Kardon Logic7 surround sound system. The included Carfax report shows 24 service history records over 21 years of documentation with nearly all of them being Mercedes-Benz dealer services. Recent services include a coolant and brake fluid service, an oil service, new valve cover gaskets, new breather hoses, and new tires. This C55 is now being offered for sale by the selling dealer out of East Petersburg, Pennsylvania with the original manufacturer’s literature, a Carfax, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The exterior is finished in Mars Red (590) and features AMG sculpted front and rear bumpers, side skirts and chromed quad exhaust tips. Exterior features include fog lamps, a power operated tilt/slide glass sunroof and blue-tinted heat insulating glass. Detailed photos of the exterior are included in the gallery and while the Carfax shows minor damage reported in 2023, no signs of damage are present. The seller reports the damage to have only affected the front bumper as it was cracked on a tall parking curb. The front bumper was subsequently replaced. The front clip has partial PPF coverage halfway up the hood and fenders, the complete bumper, and mirror caps.
Factory staggered 18” AMG Dual Spoke alloy wheels wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 225/40 front and 245/35 rear and show 2023 and 2024 date codes. The wheels are in good condition with no curb rash or discoloration visible.
The AMG sport seats are trimmed in Black Leather (841) with Black Alcantara accents on the upper seat backs. Both front seats are heated and power adjustable with three-position memory. AMG-specific aluminum trim is found on the center console, dashboard and door panels. Interior amenities include a Harman Kardon Logic7 surround sound system, auto-dimming mirrors, a power tilt/telescope steering wheel, cruise control, dual-zone climate control and an integrated garage door opener. The rear seats fold flat for through-loading. An aftermarket AMG crest is mounted to the gear knob, it can be removed to the buyer’s preference.
The leather-wrapped AMG sport steering wheel fronts a 200-mph speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer with a configurable digital display mounted in the center. The digital odometer reads 56k miles. Mounted behind the steering wheel are shift buttons which control the AMG SpeedShift function for the transmission.
This W203 AMG is powered by a 5.4-liter AMG-tuned M113 V8 which is factory rated at 362 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed AMG SpeedShift automatic transmission. The included Carfax report shows 24 service history records over 21 years of documentation with nearly all of them being Mercedes-Benz dealer services. Recent services include a coolant and brake fluid service, an oil service, new valve cover gaskets, new breather hoses, and new tires. Photos of the underbody are viewable in the gallery.
This C55 shows three owners from new, linear mileage updates, and regular dealer service history on the included Carfax report. This C55 is now being offered for sale by the selling dealer out of East Petersburg, Pennsylvania with the original manufacturer’s literature, a Carfax, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The seller has included the following videos:
The W203 C55 AMG is one of those wonderfully straightforward AMG cars: a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter M113 V8, rear-wheel drive, compact proportions, and a proper old-school performance sedan feel. Short-lived and increasingly hard to find in the right condition, the C55 offers a level of simplicity and character that later AMG models moved away from. This example is especially appealing in Mars Red, a rarely seen color that gives the car far more presence than the usual black, silver, or gray finishes while still suiting the understated W203 shape. Showing 55k miles and documented dealer service from new, it carries the kind of history that matters on a modern classic AMG. For buyers looking for a distinctive, naturally aspirated AMG sedan with strong provenance and usable mileage, this C55 checks all the right boxes.

As always, we're happy to store this car for up to 7 business days free of charge while transport or pickup is arranged. We can also assist with shipping logistics if needed!@blakleyleonard We couldn't agree more.I absolutely love this car. Mars Red is an incredible color, and I'd guess there's a very small hand full (less than 10?) C55's in this color. Not to mention the low mileage, ultra clean condition, and recent service. If timing was different for me, I'd be bidding! Very rare bird here, good luck to all lurking!$15,000 bid placed by @Benz_V8
@AMGold Thanks for your question - I conferred with the owner and he stated it was purely preventative. I too have not heard any lifter noise whilst the car has been here.$14,010 bid placed by @TheBoss
Curious about the lifter lube additive on the maintenance history- was this preventative or was there some lifter tick? I don’t hear anything in the video but curious! -Good luck with the sale.@kjbcars Thank you for that insight! The sunroof friction setting for anti-pinch can be (re)calibrated with a MB DAS/Xentry system (maybe even some aftermarket bi-directional systems). Cs and Es of that era were set a little too cautious from the factory.@UncleFred1 Tagging just to make sure you caught the features video!Hello everybody and good afternoon! With approximately 70 minutes to go on this C55 auction, we'll be watching closely and ready to answer any last minute questions. Anyone is also welcome to get in touch with us directly. The owner of this C55 is a repeat client of ours, having most recently sold a BMW 850i of his a little over a year ago. He has great taste and takes good care of his cars while still making sure to use and enjoy them. This C55 deserves a good enthusiast home.Good afternoon folks! A basic features demonstration video is now up. It shows the windows, sunroof, locks/keyless entry, mirrors, stereo/CD, climate control system, lights, seats, mirrors, steering wheel controls, tilt/telescoping wheel, trunk release, and rear headrests folding. One thing to note is the sunroof has an overzealous anti-pinch feature and requires the button to be held when closing. The tracks are free of visible debris and I attempted the reset process, but the quirk remains. That's the only oddity I can note at this time. If I missed anything, don't hesitate to mention it and I'll get your question answered! Additionally, the second key fob has been located and will be included in the sale.An additional video has been added to the listing.$13,760 bid placed by @Andrew930
Thanks for your attention to my comments…👍. I guess I was confused over the manual mode on the transmission- i thought it stayed in gear until you actually hit the button, but I guess the system takes over if you don’t do it in a timely manner. Safety feature…typical MB! As to the functions, I get your point about photos showing some of the features. However, a short video showing these things working is more telling, as how they work is as important. Do the windows and sunroof open and close smoothly; how cold does the A/C get - a digital thermometer showing it coming down is most effective. I recommend this on other sites because fixing something that is partially working is just as expensive as if it isn’t working at all. Been there, paid that!😣. Your call! Thanks!A photo showing a service summary has been uploaded to the gallery.Good morning MBMarket! @Josefffff I do apologize - I didn't see any messages come through. At any rate, I appreciate your patience while we enjoyed the holiday weekend - we hope you enjoyed yours too. In November 2019, the gearbox oil was replaced alongside the o-rings on the connection into the conductor plate as a preventative measure. @kjbcars Thanks for the assist on these very important points. @UncleFred1 The gearbox won't allow you to upshift manually if there aren't enough revs on board, it's a nice feature really and this one shifts as well as any one I've driven. I will try to get you a video, in the meantime please note the images which show the windows and sunroof open and closed, the lights illuminated, much of which can be seen in the video as well with the AC keeping me comfortable. The car is fully functional. I will post a scan of the spreadsheet he kept on the car shortly. Please also see the Carfax which details this car's regular dealer service as mentioned in the listing.Any word on the transmission issue anyone? I messaged the seller but received no response. I like the car but...M113 engines never suffered the head bolt issue that plagued x63 models, and brake jobs (DIY easy) with rotors and pads all around are ~$400 total. The shift buttons demonstrated in the video worked as they should. Great cars as described here and the color and low miles don’t come around very often. Have a look at the highest-selling C55 on BaT for some great OEM mods that can be done.Very nice 55…I had a 2006 that I regret ever trading in.😣 Colors are unique…the red does stand out. On the manual shifting, I don’t think its operative from watching the video. You were clicking up and it was ignoring you…on my 55 when you clicked, it shifted up or down. Worth a check?. I don’t see any service records posted on the car. Usually enthusiasts who have these do keep them…I had records in a binder for my 55 and my current 43. Because you mentioned work that was done, it’s critical to see it, as I remember $4K brake jobs and head bolts, etc. that were painful enough to cause my trade in, so the more information you have on that work is important. Looking forward to that info, and maybe a functional video showing that everything is working electrically like windows, roof, lights, radio, A/C temperature drop, etc. Thanks!👍$13,500 bid placed by @ProdigalPetrolHead
