This 1964 Mercedes-Benz 300SE Lang was originally produced by Mercedes-Benz as 1 of 5 Exhibition cars used for car shows and demonstrations. It was later purchased by the Royal Family of The Netherlands before making its way into a sizable private collection in Germany. It was purchased by the current owner in 2019 and resides in Calabasas, CA currently. This rare sedan is finished in Dark Blue (332) over Blue Leather & Cloth with power provided by a 3.0L M189 I6 paired to a 4-speed manual column shift. Features include a factory partition with power glass, a Blaupunkt radio with matching rear speaker, manual windows, rear curtains, factory air suspension, and more. The car previously underwent refurbishment in 2006 with Bud’s Benz outside of Atlanta, Georgia. It’s since been maintained under multiple owners with the current owner ensuring maintenance via a private technician. Work under the current owner’s care includes refurbishing the ignition switch, an exhaust manifold leak repair, refurbished brake calipers, a refurbished master cylinder, rebuilt suspension, new shocks, and new tires. This 300SE Long is now offered by the current owner with a clean California title out of Calabasas, CA.
The car is finished in Dark Blue (332) as was the original color of this sedan when new. Only 1,546 long wheelbase examples were produced by Mercedes-Benz and featured an extra 10cm (3.94 in.) in length. The brightwork is noted to be in great condition along with glass, and accessories. A correct model designation badge is noted on the decklid and no major exterior blemishes are mentioned.
Original 13” Steel wheels are mounted and wear paint-matched hubcaps. Maxxis whitewall tires are shown measuring 185/80 at all four corners. A full-size spare is included in the trunk along with a factory tool kit. Two of the hubcaps show flaking paint.
The interior shows dual upholstery by way of Blue Leather on the front bench and gray patterned cloth on the rear bench and door cards. The cabin is accented with Burl Wood veneer including the partition. The partition glass is power operated and can be raised or lowered with a button. The dashboard shows an original VDO clock and Blaupunkt radio. A rear Blaupunkt radio is shown on the rear parcel shelf with blue curtains on either side.
The Ivory steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation featuring a 220km/h speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, engine temperature, fuel level, and indicator lights. 83k kilometers are shown on the odometer.
The 3.0L M189 I6 was rated at 168 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque when new. This example features upgraded Bosch fuel injection. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 4-speed manual.

Additional photos have been added showing various close-ups and features along with a video showing driving functions and compression readings.
@Shyk1965 Got the videos and additional photos. Thank you. Remaining open questions: - Has there been any accidents or panel work done to your knowledge? Any plaster fillers anywhere? - Is the fin molding got split from the body? Photos 23 and 28. - Photo 134 - lower side of the passenger door panel seems to have unclipped. Is a clip there missing? - Is radiator original? How is the running temp. in the summer? - What is going on with the exhaust clips in photo 188? - Could you please release the water pressure valve located on the driver side and video the process? This valve needs to be released periodically as I assume you know. - in 2006 was the car repainted entirely or partially? - Could you point out paint bubbling if any? - Was leather in the front changed or original? - It is strange that the options plaque is missing. It is supposed to be right next to the paint plaque. Do you know where they placed it? - Is the original datacard available? - How many keys come with a sale?

@DC311 I will be emailing you updated videos and photos,There is under coating from previous owner and there was some surface rust cleaned up but nothing major remember car is 60 years old and as far as accident to my knowledge it has not also trunk seal was replaced a while back and needs to be settled that's why you see it not flush. Thanks
I have a bunch of questions. Sorry if too many! Rust: - It would be good to see the underside in a detailed Video. Can you get her on a lift? Particularly interested in seeing the rockers closer and in good definition. - Photos 174 and 175. How bad is rusting in that spot? - Could you post a photo of the trunk with the rubber mat lifted up? - Photos 154 and 191 show potential areas of rust. Body and Cosmetics: - Panel alignment: trunk and left passenger door - seem to show potential misalignment. - Has there been any accidents or panel work done to your knowledge? Any plaster fillers anywhere? - Was the trunk properly closed? Photos 34, 44-49 - Is the fin molding got split from the body? Photos 23 and 28. - Photo 134 - lower side of the passenger door panel seems to have unclipped. Is a clip there missing? - Any chance you can post photos on a uniform color floor to minimize reflections? Mechanical - Is radiator original? How is the running temp. in the summer? - What is going on with the exhaust clips in photo 188? - Any data on compression and oil pressure? - It would be good to see a video of cold start, exhaust smoke level, driving. - Could you please release the water pressure valve located on the driver side and video the process? This valve needs to be released periodically as I assume you know. Paint and Leather: - in 2006 was the car repainted entirely or partially? - Could you point out paint bubbling if any? - Was leather in the front changed or original? Misc: - It is strange that the options plaque is missing. It is supposed to be right next to the paint plaque. Do you know where they placed it? - Is the original datacard available? - How many keys come with a sale? My email is [email protected]
@UncleFred1 Morning did you get my email from my son with photos and videos.
[email protected] 👍😁
@UncleFred1 Hi Fred yes there is adjustment inside the car has 2 or 3 positions I will do a video of that and post it.send me your email.
I have lots of questions, but one is the air suspension. it appears that it’s currently setting up high…does the suspension still adjust up and down? At some point would like to talk live…let me know how!👍
@BobG Morning Bob if you would like to see the car let me know I'm in Agoura Hills Ca.
Hi: I’m Bob Gunthorp in San Diego I own a 300SE Long that has the divider window from one of the other 5 exhibition cars. In 2010 I purchased a “project”. The project consisted of two 1965 300SE Long. One was the exhibition car that was a total “rust bucket” that was beyond saving. The other car was a fairly rust free US model. I restored the US model using the divider window from the other car. I have never claimed that my car is an original divider car. That said to my knowledge this are the only divider cars known to exist. I would like meet the new owner of this 300SE Long. [email protected]
@UncleFred1 I will.

Like I always say, the more info the better. Whatever you can provide, as i’m sure all potential bidders would like to know too!👍😁. Cold start, driving and shifting, and functions videos are important, so take your time! Looking forward to the videos when they post, and please don’t screw up your detail on the car on my account!😉
@UncleFred1 No problem if you want I will do a compression test to it's just I never driven the car in the rain also was just completely detailed we did put a video of the center divider going up and down.
No worries…whenever its convenient for you! Just important to see that she is running well, and that all the components are functional, like the air suspension, engine, and things like the power divider. Nothing is inexpensive to repair, as you know. A friend bought an Adenaur that looked really nice on auction, but wound up needing $50k of work, including an engine rebuild that ran over $20K…and it’s i believe the same engine. 😵💫 Not a fan of surprises, so just being prudent!👍😁 Thanks 🤟
@UncleFred1, it's currently raining where I am at so I will have to postpone the videos. Hopefully by tomorrow, I can get the recordings all done and uploaded. Stay tuned and have a blessed day.
@Vander, Thank you for the kind words. This vehicle is out of my private collection and I am selling it for an incoming W111 convertible. This car would be a great addition to Mercedes collector.
The 300SE Long is the highest level of a Fintail made, and is a very rare car. They made more 300SL than they did these. These feature air suspension, and the M189 shares come parts with the 300SL. It's been a long time since I've seen one of these offered.

i’m really intrigued about this car, so looking forward to seeing the videos and further info. It’s right up my alley when it comes to a car with character and history. Thanks!😁
Additional photos of records and the brake rebuild have been added to the gallery.
@UncleFred1 Hi Fred I've had this in my car collection for a while just making room for incoming w111 convertible did a lot of work while in my possession I will be posting invoices shortly and as far as driving and walk around I will post by this Friday do to I'm out of town for Christmas and if you are local more then welcome to check it out. Thanks
Lovely fintail…seems to be several mid sixties MB sedans on the auction block all of a sudden ☺️ Love to see some videos of the functions and driving …tranny operation, etc. Also, what work was done on the suspension- that’s the only kind of sketchy item to deal with mechanically… Looking forward to the videos and more great provenance/records!👍😁
