This 1996 Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG was originally sold new in Austria and shows the Duisberg Branch as the origin of order on the datacard. The car was imported into the United States in January 2022 by the selling dealer and now has a clean Florida title. Finished in rare designo Blue (012u) over Anthracite and designo Blue Leather (581) interior, power comes from a 5.0L M119 engine which sends power to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. No previous service records accompany this example but the selling dealer frequently imports European examples and has performed a thorough check under ownership. This E50 AMG currently shows 174k kilometers (~108,000 miles), approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller. Standard equipment includes Xenon headlamps, AMG bodywork, 18” monoblock wheels, heated front seats, a power rear sunshade, an Adaptive Damping System, automatic climate control, an aftermarket touchscreen, and orthopedic seats. This Euro spec W210 AMG is being offered with importation paperwork, manufacturer’s literature, one key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
Finished in custom-ordered designo Blue (012u), this E50 features an AMG styling package which includes sculpted front and rear bumpers, extended side skirts, factory rolled fenders, AMG badging, and dual chrome exhaust outlets. Other exterior features include Xenon headlamps with washers, fog lights, and a sunroof with tilt function. As a Euro spec example, there are no amber corner lights on the front bumper strips and instead, a turn signal indicator light is located on each front fender. The seller notes inspection of each body panel and expects this car to have received paintwork under previous ownership. Also noted are a few bubbles under the paint around the sunroof opening. Detailed photos can be seen in the gallery.
Factory staggered 18” AMG Monoblock wheels with machined lips are fitted with Sailun Atrezzo tires that measure 235/40 up front and 265/35 in the rear. The wheels are free from curb rash and wear original painted center caps. Euro spec W210 AMGs came with a slightly lower ride height from the factory compared to US models. This E50 also comes optioned with an Adaptive Damping System allowing the driver to stiffen the ride as needed.
The cabin is trimmed in Anthracite (581) with designo Blue Leather inserts on the seats, door cards, and AMG steering wheel. Special-ordered Blue designo wood grain trim adorns the center console, dashboard, doors, and lower portion of the shift knob. Interior features include an electric rear sunshade, a power sunroof with tilt function, mutli-contour front seats, heated front seats, dual automatic climate control, power side mirrors, and an aftermarket touchscreen head unit. The left front seat shows light creasing and a crack can be seen in the veneer right of the head unit. The seller notes the rear sunshade is inoperational.
An AMG steering wheel is trimmed in Anthracite and designo Blue Leather frames the AMG gauge cluster which displays a 280km speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer along with auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The center screen displays outside temperature and time with all working pixels in working order and no warning lights. The odometer now reads 174k kilometers (~108k miles).
The AMG-tuned 5.0L M119 V8 engine was rated at 347 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque when new and was mated to a 722.6 automatic five-speed transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.
This Euro spec W210 AMG is being offered with importation paperwork, manufacturer’s literature, one key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
As an early model W210, the E50 was the first AMG version of the W210 to be offered and typically that would be rare enough by our standards. In this specific case, this example far surpasses the rarity of the already rare E50 AMG. Reportedly only 2,960 units were built world wide, all of which were left-hand drive, and none of which were offered for sale stateside. The first AMG version to be offered stateside came in 1999 with the M113-powered E55. That makes the E50 even more special as it came with the M119 powerplant and more closely resembled it’s pre merger predecessors. The pre facelift styling of W210 AMG is often overlooked by the later updated models but with lower production numbers, we find them equally as appealing if not more unique. It’s extremely rare to catch wind of an E50 AMG stateside and this example is clearly unique in it's custom-ordered designo trim. Values for all W210 AMGs have been steadily rising thanks to classic styling, low ownership costs, and most of all, they mark the end of an analog era of Mercedes which enthusiasts today will always desire.

@offi00 look for me on Rennlist with same handle and send me a PM through there. Thank you.
@JAB12 do you have Facebook or something else?
@offi00 please find me on another car site that we can communicate directly: with the same handle and I will be happy to receive those. Much appreciated. Thank you.
@JAB12 I just have a copy of the vehicle registration document that I can send to you. And I still have the original springs for the front 🤣 I also have a few pictures. I think i was the last Owner in Europe.
@offi00 yes, been a few years. She’s back to running on Petrol. Anything interesting in its history that you can share? Thank you.
@JAB12 Hi, Are you the new owner of this beauty?
Hello guys, I'm the guy from Austria. That was my vehicle at the time. It's great that the Amg made it to America. I was very happy to see my old car here again. Kind regards from Austria
@gsxr went RNM
@gsxr That bidding is still going on. They are good guys, local to me.
JAB, I think you did better than the other AMG which sold minutes ago with a lot fewer ponies under the hood: https://thembmarket.com/1995-mercedes-benz-e280-amg-limited And... no code 957 on that one. :) EDIT - that auction is still going, ooops! I thought it ended....
Thanks @gsxr I drove the E to work today so was extra motivated.....
Congrats @JAB12! Fantastic stablemate next to the E60. :-)

I am loving this battle. Truly a case of "find another." Should mention I bought a car from United Imports last month and had a good experience. The crew down there really loves quirky Euro cars.

A Euro spec Designo 210 AMG with an M119 is possibly the best investment buy to be had from this era. Won’t be worth less and you can enjoy it daily while looking insanely cool doing it.
@BlueridgeMB Hey, I don’t recall a reason for not tending to the sunroof but I’m thinking it was just an oversight. From what I can see it should be a relatively simple job. I did not open up the cars to see what’s inside but she does sound very nice. The car drives great so I’m not sure that any components need replaced at this time. Tires are the ones that were installed when it was imported. Thank you!

Wish we had more photos of the front end/fenders etc... Headlight surrounds/washer covers/pass fender all seem to be a bit out of sorts with one another. You mentioned having tended to paint work @ the rear of the car, any particular reason the sunroof wasn't tended at the same time? Was this car ever verified that the catalysts actually have Something left inside? Exhaust sound mighty frisky if they are still intact. Underside looks farily unmolesed minus the LPG/Exhaust mods but at the same time ALL those bushings/bits/links and ends all appear to be original . Did y'all install the tires or did it come with those? Never heard of them state side~ Very cool car, but I fear for her overall level of Needs to be on point. Commitment will be required.

This just has future classic written all over it, and it's going to be even more special 10 years from now. You can't deny the period-correct aesthetic... Mercedes was always a little funkier across the pond! GLWA!

Is the ADS system similar to that in the W140 or is it a more simple adjustable damper?
$10,500 bid placed by @Merc2000
Well now I see where Mercedes got the stunning color scheme for the rare 1997 SL320 40th Anniversary Roadsters! Deja vu!
The 2900 production number is slightly misleading . All e60’s were originally e50’s , once purchased and a contract was signed then ur e50 was turned into an e60 so the rough estimate of actual e50’s made is more like 2500
color combo is outstanding! you won't run into another one like this at your local C&C.

Photos showing paint meter readings and other details have been added to the gallery.
@JAB12 sure, I will do that.
@UI_Classics can you please post paint meter readings so that we can settle the questions surrounding paint.
@E55_Source The only paint work we did was the bottom of the trunk lid. There was a previous repair around the latch that was poorly done and small area where the paint was cracking but there was definitely no rust present. Also, no clear coat was peeling in this area, but whoever fixed it previously used wrong paint code. That's why it was corrected by us. Whatever else was painted on this car, had been done by the previous owner. You are correct about the filler on the passenger quarter panel but the only way you can tell is with a paint meter. The rest of the paint imperfections that I described to you before are still present and visible in the video provided. These are limited to a small spot repair on the passenger front fender (behind the wheel) and some small areas of peeling clear coat on the driver's side.
Has the vehicle been repainted again recently? I was provided a walk around video of this car 3 months ago, video now removed, from UnitedImportsCars.com and there was rust bubbling around the trunk latch, clear coat failing along the bottom half of the trunk, driver rear quarter panel, passenger front fender. Same video, dealer admitted the passenger rear quarter was patched with bondo and front driver seat was re-dyed yet no mention of this here. I personally didn't think it was worth over the $20k asking price.

Videos have been added to the bottom of the listing.
Thanks! I am not seeing the video, am I missing it somewhere in the listing?
@gsxr sure I can take some more photos of the LPG. Also, there should be a video of the car on a lift, which I thought is better than photos.
More pics of the LPG system? Undercarriage photos? Love the color combo!
