This 1997 Mercedes-Benz S70 AMG is a Japanese-market example which came fully optioned and reportedly remained with the same owner in Japan for over 18 years. The car was exported to Saudi Arabia in 2018 and subsequently imported into the U.S. in 2022. The car started as a S600 from the factory before receiving extensive modifications from AMG. Finished in Polar White (149) over Exclusive Black Leather (561), power is provided by an AMG-built 7.0-liter M120 V12 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes Parktronic parking sensors, a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, electrically adjustable and heated seats front and rear, an electric rear roller blind, self-leveling suspension, four-zone automatic climate control, a COMAND navigation system and a Bose audio system. AMG modifications consist of sculpted body work, square-tip exhaust pipes, an AMG gauge cluster and 19" Monoblock wheels. Now showing just under 55k km (~34k miles), this S70 AMG is offered for sale in Miami, Florida with a 7.0 stamped engine block, the original owner's manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
The exterior is finished in Polar White (149) and features AMG body styling consisting of sculpted front and rear bumpers, extended side skirts, and square AMG chrome exhaust tips. All parts of the body kit are AMG stamped with photos provided. S70 AMG badges are mounted to the trunk lid with the standard V12 badges mounted to the rear quarter panels. Exterior equipment includes Parktronic parking sensors front and rear, power-adjustable door mirrors, headlamp wiper/washers, a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, dual-pane windows and soft-close doors. The seller notes the lower front bumper near the passenger wheel is cracked.
Staggered 19” AMG Monoblock Aero II wheels are wrapped in new General GMax RS tires measuring 255/35 up front and 285/35 in the rear. Date codes on the tires read 2022. A full-size spare and factory jack can be found mounted below the trunk floor.
The cabin is trimmed in two-tone Exclusive Black Leather (561) with matching black AMG floor mats and a gray Alcantara headliner. Burl Walnut wood trim can be found lining the center console, dashboard, door panels, steering wheel and instrument cluster. AMG touches include a signed ashtray cover and AMG door sills. Interior features include four-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable heated seats front and rear, a rear folding armrest, a power rear-window sunshade, a Japanese-specific COMAND navigation system, a power-adjustable steering column, cruise control and an 11-speaker Bose audio system.
The wood/leather steering wheel frames AMG gauges including a 300-km/h speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The digital odometer currently shows 55k km, approximately 34k miles.
This long-wheelbase W140 is powered by an M120 V12 with an increased displacement to 7,055cc and tuned to produce 489 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. A numbered AMG plaque has been fitted to the engine cover designating this car as number 59, and the bottom of the engine block is stamped 7.0. An AMG exhaust system is shown along with additional underbody photos.
The datacard reports an 11/1995 build date with first registration noted in 1997. This S70 AMG is now offered for sale with a 7.0 stamped engine block, the original owner's manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.

In what alternate universe? Last 30k mile S7X's that came up were both needing to be imported from overseas and were just under $200k. This makes no sense.

This car does have a phone. It's integrated into the infotainment system.
This car was never ordered with a phone
Thanks for the reply, When you say no phone do you mean that the phone is missing Or this car was never fitted with a phone? Are other s70s fitted with a phone?
$63,000 bid placed by @Aigul
@Pizdets4u Happy holidays as well! No factory phone and no massage, acceleration and driving joy provide the adequate relaxation. Trunk lid shows a bit thicker and some spot work with blending to the two rear quarters. Meters 4s and 6s so I don't believe that it has been hit. Interior seems to be all original which is consistent with the miles. Good luck bidding!

Happy holidays my fellow MBmarket peeps. This is going to be a fun one and can’t wait to blow kids college fund. Questions Is there a phone in this car? Massage? Was massage even an option back then? Any repaint? Sign of collusion? Interior retrim? Thank you in advance!

@rbassous Harnesses can go bad even on these updated cars. We just rebuilt the harnesses on a 1997 S600. 90k miles. Texas history. Chances are, with miles this low, the harnesses are fine. They are rebuildable though, so not something to be scared of.
@rbassous It has a newer gen coil on plug system for the M120 7.0, no expected harness issues
@TheLimited Since the build date is 11/1995. Do you know if the car still has bio degradable wiring harness . I know it was updated sometimes in 1996 for W140s but I could be wrong....
@rbassous It is beleived that 125 7.0 M120 engines were built. These were installed in W140, C140 and R129 Mercedes platforms, as well as Pagani Zonda C12-S (21 units) and Zonda GR (1 unit) . Exact numbers per vehicle chassis type are not very clear, but very slim and rare indeed. #59 refers to the 59th of around 125 engines made.
How many S70 were built? does this car have a number of the built? 59 out of how many?

@kk3249 All AMG components including the 7.0 number are correctly stamped verifying authenticity. Paperwork is not available from AMG as in many of these cars.
Is there any documentation or invoices from AMG documenting the work done on the car?

$27,000 bid placed by @Picasohunt
@zyyzs One of AMG’s most significant period modifications, was the 7.0 V12 that reportedly powers the car to 60mph in 5.2 seconds and to a top speed of 186mph. The engine (of which is believed about 125 were ever made) is the same unit used Pagani Zonda C12-S and Zonda GR, as well as the Mercedes SL70 AMG. Engine shows correct AMG number stamped on the engine block, as well are the identifying place on the engine's cover spine (Pictures in the gallery)
Would love to learn a little more about the history of this model. How many were made? Is their any documentation demonstrating the authenticity of this particular car.
Such a cool car. I didn't know this model existed
@MBFahrer Listing has been updated, thank you.
"four place multicontour seating package" What are you doing MB market? This is not a four-place seating car. This has a rear bench seat. Further down you mention that it has a folding rear center console. No, it does not have that either--it has a folding rear seat armrest. Two different things. This listing is a mess.
$25,000 bid placed by @Superseller
@TBrad thank you! Very kind
I don’t believe I have ever seen one of these before. Amazing. Unfortunately for me, it meets the “want,” not “need” category. It probably wouldn’t fit in my garage anyway, even if I did have room. GLWTA

Registration has no bearing on what year a car is. This car claims to have been built in November of 1995. That makes this a 1996. Why is it listed as a 1997 MB Market?
patina boys car?
$5,500 bid placed by @RB26TT
Auction lot description notes: The datacard reports an 11/1995 build date with first registration noted in 1997. This S70 AMG is now offered for sale with a 7.0 stamped engine block, the original owner's manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
@TheLimited If it sat in a museum & was first reg'd today doesn't make it a 2023. "first registration noted in 1997" doesn't make it a 1997. Change the listing title.
$5,000 bid placed by @HammerEd
@gsxr you are absolutely on point as always. Thank you for your input. What really makes the car is the stamped 7.0 AMG powerplant and coil-on-plug. It is a very responsive, fast and enjoyable flagship W140 with a unicorn heart. The rest is semantics that are timely and correctly stated from the beginning in the ad’s description.
First registration is irrelevant. If first registered in 2020, that doesn't make it a 2020 S70. 1995 or 1996 would be more accurate. The important part is that it has the coil-on-plug ignition (distributorless) and also should not have wire harness concerns either. Link to datacard: https://www.lastvin.com/vin/Grj0VEMxG68dOlM4n Awesome car, GLWS!
@maxx if you read the whole description, the last paragraph says so.
MY96, built 1995 - unforgivable MB Market. No side airbags, obvious confirmation.

Midnight train with the Pagani Zonda engine
@galshkaki photo #91 is most likely a poorly placed floor jack used once, as everything else around looks straight. and clean. Paint meter readings show what seems to be spot work on the trunk cover and blending to rear quarters, but very consistent just in the 6's. Regarding the switch, as stated, this is a Japan market car. One key comes with it. It was acquired from a very prominent collection in the Middle East that performed all maintenance inhouse, including the harnesses replacement. Transmission reseal was performed by us inhouse by our tech , including some oil lines replaced from the engine and new tires were fitted. Paperwork of the parts purchased will be available with the purchase to the winning bidder.
I don’t see a stability control switch , the US models came with it Was there an accident in this car , one of the pictures showing the underneath metal is torn apart How May keys come with the car Any maintenance record
