This 1999 Mercedes-Benz S500 was sold new in April 1999 by Crown Eurocars Inc in Pinellas Park, Florida and remained with the first owner in Maryland through 2019. The car then spent time in Tennessee before relocating to Virginia in March 2024 with the current seller who has added 13k of the 93k original miles on the odometer. Finished in Obsidian Black Metallic (197) over Black Leather (261), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power sliding glass sunroof, Xenon headlamps, staggered 19" AMG Monoblock wheels, a Continential headunit with Bluetooth, soft-close doors, self-leveling rear suspension, heated and power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and a Bose audio system. Recent service includes a transmission service, sway bar links, lower control arms, rear shocks, front brake pads and rotors, and an oil change. This final-year model W140 is now offered for sale by the current owner with partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.
The long-wheelbase body is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic (197) and exterior equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, Xenon HID headlamps with heated washers and wipers, heated power door mirrors, remote central locking and soft close doors. Very minor scratches are noted on the body and shown in the gallery with no signs of rust or damage. The car wears all original paint as verified by consistent paint meter readings and the clean Carfax report. The bumpers are also original paint with the factory semi-gloss finish. A paint correction and polish was performed in late 2024 along with a ceramic coating.
Authentic staggered 19" AMG Aero II monoblock wheels are fitted and come wrapped in a set of Continental Extreme Contact tires which were fitted new in 2024. The wheels are in excellent condition with polished lips and no curb marks. The self-leveling rear suspension maintains a constant rear ride height regardless of cargo load. New OEM 8mm spring pads were installed in the front to level the car from the factory height. A spare wheel and jack are located under the trunk floor. New front brake pads, rotors, and sway bar end links were installed in January 2025, with an alignment, new front lower control arms, bushings, and rear shocks fitted in October 2025.
The cabin is upholstered Black Leather (261) with Burl Walnut wood trim lining the center console, dash and door panels. The burl walnut wood shows well with rich color and no cracks. Both front seats are heated with 14-way power adjustability. Additional features include heated rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a power adjustable steering column, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a Bose audio system linked to a Continental headunit with bluetooth capability and a CD changer in the trunk. The key FOB is noted to be inoperable to remotely lock and unlock, and must be done with the flip out key. The seller notes the AC blows ice cold and the heat works flawlessly along with the heated seats.
A leather steering wheel fronts analog instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer currently shows 93k miles, 13k of which have been added by the seller.
This W140 is powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC M119 V8 which is rated for 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed 722.6 automatic transmission. A full service in November 2024 included new front brake pads, front brake rotors, a brake sensor, front sway bar links, and an oil service. In January 2025, a transmission service and fluid flush, along with an oil and filter change was performed. In preparation for the sale, an inspection was performed which resulted new front lower control arms, bushings, new rear shocks, and a fresh oil & filter change in October 2025. The Carfax report lists 21 service history records with regular oil change intervals and other maintenance. The factory service booklet lists an additional service not noted on the Carfax on June 15, 2009 when the car had 47,356 miles showing where the brake fluid was flushed performed along with new spark plugs, engine air filter, charcoal filter, and fuel filter installed.
The Carfax report shows registration history in Maryland, Tennessee and Montana. Linear mileage updates are shown with no accidents or damage reports since new on the Carfax. This 1999 S500 is now offered for sale by the current owner in Roanoke, Virginia with partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.

Very happy to see these finally appreciated. Not that many left in this condition. I've own one for about 17 years, very reliable and rewarding car. The last real Mercedes Benz, over-engineered, incredible build quality, comfort and handling. Congrats on the purchaseCongratulations and Enjoy Best mb imo I got a 99 coupe and a v12 sedan speaking from experienceCongrats to Blakley and the winner!!! The car is absolutely beautiful and wish the winner many years of happiness with it.Late to the party - but WoW!! Congrats to both buyer and seller. I really think the great pictures and the online posts by Blake (in addition to all the TLC he gave this car) separated this one from all the rest.@Erindgj Haha I promise you’re not aloneI've done a lot of stupid sh*t in my life and paying 36500 for a 1999 s500 is probably towards the top. lol.Nicely done! Off to Billy's Ritz for celebration!@Erindgj Congratulations!! Well fought and won! I’ll give you a call in a few!$36,500 bid placed by @Erindgj

Thank you to all of the bids and comments so far! We’re coming down to the final minutes and I’ll be on standby for any last minute questions. This car will be greatly missed but I’m looking forward to seeing a fellow enthusiast enjoy it as I have. Good luck to all!@MartinMartin I completely agree! It’s timeless.Man this is a beautiful car. Perfect spec really with the 99 and 5.0 V8. The ADS suspension on the V12 cars always scared me. The last true S class right here!@GoBoGo Thank you! I’ve always loved the W140 but they can look completely different based on suspension and wheel setup. I’ve actually driven the car up to the Star and taken it on the Blue Ridge Parkway many times! I live right off of the parkway and even took these photos there as well!$25,500 bid placed by @Erindgj

TBH, in the past, for some reason I've never really been a fan of this 'series' of S-classes... With that being said, this one makes me completely rethink that 'bias'! What an incredibly handsome vehicle! This would be perfect to drive up to the Star and then onto the Blue Ridge Parkway! GLWTA!$22,250 bid placed by @carmarkmotors

@Whester Thank you for making the trip to come see the car this past weekend!@Luz_do_sol Regarding the key fob not working, the issue seems to be the key fob itself not sending any type of signal out. Everything checks out with the car itself. I have a couple of leads on sources who state they're able to get a replacement key and program it. I can pass along that information to the winning bidder if they'd like.$20,750 bid placed by @Whester
Image #79 shows the driver’s door handle; there is a small rectangle on the pull, adjacent to the key blade hole. Mask around this rectangle and wet-sand it with 3,000-grit paper, then apply the lightest coat of non-ceramic liquid wax. More than half the time, this cures the non-op remote fob. The rectangle is the sensor screen for the infrared signal from the fob.$20,500 bid placed by @babtainy
@Culturecar Thank you! I agree the W140 from the factory needs some dialing in to sit properly and I am very particular with getting all of my cars perfect. Most I see in the U.S. have larger wheel gaps in the front and the wheels sit too far inside the wheel wells for such a big body car. It's all about the details!Well done on getting this W140 looking so proper! MB should've had them looking like this when new.Three additional videos have been added to the listing.I have added 3 additional videos to the listing. Two are driving videos and the third shows a cold start along with interior functions. The only thing to note is the rear passenger window was slow. I'm not sure I've ever needed to roll that window down before so was unaware of it before. Let me know if there are any questions!@Luz_do_sol I haven't tried doing anything other than changing the key batteries a while back but will certainly look into those other DIY items you mentioned over the weekend.$20,250 bid placed by @Whester

@blakleyleonard, you’ve brought one of the nicest! Thinking about the inop key fob and wondering if you checked the fuses related to the central locking system, the All-Activity Module (AAM), and antenna fuses? User manual can be consulted for a DIY effort…$17,750 bid placed by @Whester

@mikelaca The only thing I did was replace the batteries in the key and haven't formally diagnosed it or gotten a quote to fix. I'm so used to using a key with most of my other cars that I forget it's not normal. All of the locks operate properly when unlocking or locking with the key at the door and trunk. The soft-close functions properly as well.Is the remote control fixable? Have you tried or received a quote? @seller$14,000 bid placed by @joegonz17

This is the best looking W140 I've seen in a very long time. Those wheels alone are a solid $5k!@Bankrep40 I've seen the car in person and the paint is very nice.@Bankrep40 Yes they are, and they make a huge difference at night and look much better than the halogens. Are the lights xenon@Bankrep40 The paint is in really great condition. When I first got it, there were some light scratches visible on the hood and trunk lid. I had a multi-stage paint correction and ceramic coating done and it took care of 90+ percent of it. I've seen a lot of these over the years and this is among the best. Almost impossible to find one with all original paint, and in such well kept condition.$7,500 bid placed by @Ehfischer

Hello again and welcome to the auction for my beloved W140! In addition to my turbo diesel S123 also being auctioned, I'm offering this car as well which I've spared no expense to make as close to perfect as possible. I've taken this car on numerous road trips as well as around town and it has never had any issues whatsoever. It is by far the most comfortable car I own. When I was first on the hunt for the perfect W140, I knew I wanted black on black, xenons, heated seats, original paint, a clean Carfax, and the 5.0 M119. This car checked all the boxes and was a final year model 1999. I spent considerable time dialing in the ride height to get the perfect OEM+ stance and perfect ride quality. I also added staggered 19" AMG Monoblock wheels which I personally think are the best wheel choice for the W140. It would be a tall order to find a better example anywhere! I truly hate to let this one go, but I've got some things brewing and 18 cars is a bit much to manage. Best of luck to all interested bidders! I've tried to be as thorough as possible with the photos and description. I'll try to be as responsive as possible for any potential questions.
