This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300GD was originally ordered and sold for the United Kingdom market and was imported into the United States in April of 2024. The truck is finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) over Grey checkered cloth interior and power is provided by a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter OM617 inline-5 diesel linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. Notable features include dual-speed four-wheel-drive, a dual-speed transfer case, optioned fender flares, fog lamps, and two locking differentials. The G-Wagen is offered with 16k miles shown with true mileage unknown. This 300GD is now offered by the current owner in Fernandina Beach, Florida with MOT records tracing the mileage, service invoices, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, and a clean Florida title. The seller is able to assist with international shipping needs as needed.
The 300GD is finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) paint from new. A tire cover comes fitted over the spare wheel attached to the hatch and the headlights are protected by factory grill guards. Other exterior features include side marker lights on the front fenders, ball trailer hitch, steel belly pan, and sliding rear-quarter windows. Normal wear can be seen on both front and rear bumpers and detailed photos can be seen in the gallery. One fog light lens is cracked and there is surface rust bubbling under the paint on the rear hatch, fenders, and rear quarter panels. The bumpers, grill, and headlight covers have been repainted by the current owner due to aged paint.
The cabin is upholstered in Grey checkered cloth across the front and rear seats, door cards, and rear cargo door with the upper trim and dashboard finished in black. An aftermarket JVC head unit has been installed in period featuring a tape deck and green backlighting. An analogue clock is at the bottom of the center stack sharing space with the climate controls and headlight switch. In the truck are the original Mercedes-Benz all-weather floor mats.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames the original gauge cluster featuring a 120-mph speedometer, tachometer, and ancillary readouts for fuel and coolant temperatures. Indicator lights are shown for front and rear locking differentials along with fuel, high beam, oil, brake, and battery warning lights. 16k miles are shown on the 5-digit mechanical odometer with true mileage unkown.
The 3.0L OM617 naturally aspirated inline-5 diesel was factory rated at 88 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque when new with power sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The selling party has MOT records and service invoices from Mercedes-Benz. Photos of the engine bay and underbody are supplied in the gallery. The frame and chassis appear to be in good shape without rust. Recent services by the current owner include an oil service and tire rotation in preparation for the sale. This W460 was reported to have been a gentleman’s farm truck for the last decade somewhere in the British Isles.
This 300GD is now offered by the current owner and seller with importation records, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, MOT papers, service records, and a clean Florida title. The seller is able to assist with international shipping needs as needed.
The W460 G-Wagon was more utilitarian and spartan compared to later variants which makes trucks like these far more charming than newer fire-breathing bi-turbo V8 AMG cars. This truck was used for road use until about 12 years ago when it lost MOT and was reportedly used as a gentleman’s farm truck presumably clattering over green hills with gray, overcast backdrops and crashing through muddy, rutted roads twisting through thickets of hedges and farmland. Boasting an utterly handsome color combo of Astral Silver over an iconically Germanic checked cloth interior, this 300GD located right near Amelia Island, Florida is living out its Golden Years in one of the most iconic automotive spheres on the East Coast. Amelia Island is a mere 3 miles wide and 13 miles long. The seller exercises this G once or twice a month for a leisurly store run or evening dinner. The 5-speed manual transmission is a sweetheart paired with the invulnerable OM617 engine – an engine that is easily serviceable by a novice wrench turner. This is a perfect rig for the enthusiast who wants to dip a toe into the G-Wagen world.

@Classic_hunter Thank you! Realizing more and more how much of an amazing deal it is. Can't wait!
@Wendall congratulations! Definitely one heck of a deal. It would cost you more than this just to buy an example like this, not including the importing cost.

Good morning, we are almost at the end of the auction. If there are any questions please feel free to reach out. Best of luck everyone!
@Wendall The roof mounted antenna is removable, it’s one 3mm Allen head bolt. The fender antenna could also be removed as well.
Hi Noah, does that antenna detach, or fold down?
@Smsarchitects sorry for the delay in response. This is a non-AC model. The cool/cold air blows well, with both windows down and the rear sliding window open. You get a very nice air flow in the cabin.
Local Florida question: Does she have functioning AC?
@Classic_hunter Thanks you! I currently have the vehicle insured through Hagerty with the car replacement valve of $45,000. I pay $48 a month for that coverage. I do have 6 other vehicles on my policy so I get a pretty good multi car discount.

I would also like to offer whoever wins the Mercedes, a 30min/1 hour driving lesson on driving a right hand drive vehicle, if needed.
