This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 was sold new in California where it remained until moved to Nevada in early 2012. The current seller and owner purchased the car out of Las Vegas, Nevada in 2020 and moved it to Houston, Texas where it’s currently offered for sale. The car is finished in Beryll (Teal Blue) Metallic (888) over a Cream Beige MB-Tex (175) and is powered by a 2.3L M102 engine paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent services include an oil and filter service, AC service, propeller shaft and alternator replacement, radiator hose replacement, a coolant flush, fuel tank module seal replacement, and systems check. The odometer currently shows 56k miles, approximately 400 of which were added by the current owner and seller. Features include air conditioning, cruise control, power front seats, power windows, and an aftermarket head unit. The car is now being offered by the seller with the factory toolkit, partial service records, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title.
The exterior is finished in Beryll (Teal Blue) Metallic (888) with all original body panels. The seller notes the hood and rear passenger door have received paintwork previously to address light clear coat scratches. The body shows black bumpers in the front and rear along with contrasting lower body trim in dark teal. This example retains original headlamps, corner markers, grille, badging, and hood ornament.
Original 15” Gullideckel wheels are shown wearing BF Goodrich tires measuring 195/60 on all four corners. Curb rash can be seen along the front right wheel with the remaining three in good condition.
The cabin is upholstered in Cream Beige MB-Tex (175) on the seats, door cards, center console, and armrest. The steering wheel, shift knob, and dashboard are finished in black and accented with Zebrano wood veneer. Features include power windows, power seats, air conditioning, and an aftermarket head unit with Bluetooth capabilities. The foot wells feature Beige Sisal floor mats and can be seen in the photos. The seller notes the vinyl door cards are lifting in some areas and the rear passenger window is currently inoperable.
The black leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog odometer with trip function showing 56k miles. Additional readouts include fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure along with an analog clock set into the tachometer.
The 2.3-liter M102 inline-four is rated at 130 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque from the factory. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent services include an oil and filter service, AC service, propeller shaft and alternator replacement, radiator hose replacement, a coolant flush, fuel tank module seal replacement, and systems check. Records from the current owner and previous owner will be included in the sale.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage along with linear mileage updates and regular services throughout its life. This 190E is now being offered by the seller with the factory toolkit, partial service records, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title.

No offense @hobbsm3 but I'm not surprised your car didn't make reserve. You're going to need to detail the undercarriage and the engine bay, fix the inoperable rear window and repair the wheel curb rash in order to get the top $$$you're looking for. No doubt bidders were factoring these costs into their bids. Just my humble opinion.
Thank you all for the bids and interest. We were getting close.
Wife put me in timeout on this one. Agree $11k is too low, but with premium almost $6 a gallon on the east coast…..

@hobbsm3, I certainly understand the work constraints. We'll see what happens. Best of luck to you.
@BabyBenzFan and @cdwatnsu - I truly appreciate your comments. These are just so hard to come by in this shape. Always better off getting one of the best you can find as you will always end up spending more restoring one. I wish I had the time to fully detail it, but was on call for work last weekend and could quite sneak on the time to fully detail the engine. But as you can see, the engine bay is very tidy as is the undercarriage. Thanks @elspasoben!
The brother of a downstairs neighbor in the 80s had a W126 coupe in this color (or maybe even a bit lighter, if they had lighter shades) - I’ve never seen a more stunning shade of teal on car. Of course, the W126 is a stunning vehicle, as well. This car looks fantastic! I just wish I was ready to bid, because this car is just what I need!
@mad_max99 I second what @BabyBenzFan said. I’ve only owned a 2.6, 1989, and a few 3.0 and 3.2 300 E and E 320. Unfortunately, we both didn’t win that auction last week on BaT, so the addiction to classic M-B lives on!
@mad_max99, as I noted in a previous post in this thread, there are not many W201s left with this low mileage with the paint and interior in such top condition. I did previously suggest to the seller to have the undercarriage and engine bay detailed to the level of the paint and interior in order to achieve a top $$$ price for this particular W201. I feel that small investment would've raised the value of this W201 by much more than what the additional detailing would've cost but It doesn't look like that additional detailing will be happening in time for this particular auction so it will be interesting to see how that effects the final auction price. I do continue to wish the seller, GLWTA.
Thanks for the bid @Wraith! @mad_max99 - activity is generally stronger on the last day and final hours.

It sure is slow in here compared to the other site. @cdwatnsu, @BabyBenzFan can you share your expert opinion on this example?
@hobbsm3 You’re welcome. Yes, the wagon was wonderful.
@Jfp1234 - thanks for the info. Sounds like a sweet s124 you had
Lovely! The lower, darker teal, color is Lago Blue if my memory serves me. I had this combination on my S124.
Good Friday morning. Just wanted to add that I tried out the cruise control this morning and it works great!
Additional photos of the exterior have been added to the gallery.
@kj20 - Thank you! Yes, the sunroof works.
Hi, great car. Very interested. No mention of sunroof condition? If so my apologies.
@hobbsm3, I would suggest getting that additional detailing and updated pictures sooner rather than later because bidders are deciding right now if they want to bid on your car. Now is the time for your car to make its best first impression. BTW, I've seen other W201s in your color combination. It's not a common one but there are some out there.
@BabyBenzFan - thanks for the kind words. Yes, I will try to get it better detailed this week and update pics. Sounds like you have quite a gem too! As far as color, I have not seen another Beryll 190e. An acquaintance has a Beryll 560 SEL and that’s the only other one I have seen. The next owner will have a true rare Bruno Sacco gem! And thanks for the lead off bid @mad_max99!
@hobbsm3, I wish you GLWTA. W201s with this low mileage, in this condition, in a rare color combination are unicorns for sure. I also own a 1991 W201-2.3 in another rare color combination, midnight blue/palomino with lower miles than yours that I've owned since it was brand new that I love dearly and can't imagine ever parting with. Needless to say, I'll be watching your auction with great interest. While I think you have a terrific example, addressing the curb rash on the right front wheel combined with a concours detailing that includes the undercarriage would be worthwhile expenditures that won't break the bank and will bring your car pretty close to an investment grade level which would increase its value even more. Just my humble 2 cents trying to help you get top dollar. Your example is the kind of W201 that's really starting to increase in value as the classic car community begins to realize what a special car the W201 really is. @cdwwatnsu, based on my own personal experience, you couldn't be more wrong. For the record, the W201 is legendary designer Bruno Sacco's favorite car out of all of the MBs he ever designed.

Greetings all! Fellow classic Mercedes lover here and owner of 190s for the past 13 years. @Harrdware - this one is special and you are spot on - all the great technology and class exuded by the S class trickled down to the 190 series. @cdwatnsu - Don’t discount the 2.3; it’s no slouch. I’ve owned the 2.6 and the 2.3-16; this will hold its own while delivering great mpg for the times we are in now!
Will be watching this. They make great daily drivers. From the pinnacle era of MB build quality.
If only it were a 2.6….GLWTA!
