This 1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Wagon was sold new and registered in South Florida. Since new, it’s spent time in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, where it’s currently located. The included Carfax notes the title as rebuilt status due to light flood damage in 2009, which occurred during ownership in PA. The current owner and seller has spent over 3 years and many documented hours restoring this example back to life with Genuine Mercedes and OE parts along with period-correct upgrades. Finished in Black (040) over a Black (171) MB-Tex interior, power comes from a 3.2-liter straight six paired to a four-speed automatic transmission and a Quaife limited slip differential, changing the gearing to 3.06 on a 185mm differential housing. Features include an electric tilt/slide sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control, and a rear cargo net. This E320T currently shows 109k miles on the odometer and is offered with a number of OEM upgrades, manufacturer's literature, two sets of original keys, maintenance documentation, various spare parts, a Carfax report, and a rebuilt Indiana title. Due to the age of the vehicle, Indiana has marked the odometer as exempt on mileage, though the seller states the mileage is in fact accurate and true. The seller also includes a speedometer with the correct gearing to accommodate the Quaife LSD.
The car is finished in Black (040) and retains all original body panels showing no signs of rust or clear coat failure. The seller has had all body cladding panels refinished and repainted with the original color Alto Grey Metallic, which show perfectly without wear, scuffs or rock chipping. The chrome strips on the bumpers and cladding show no signs of pitting and present well. Exterior features on this wagon includes clear corner marker lights, a genuine Lorinser rear spoiler, factory roof rack cross bars, and a de-badged rear hatch. The seller notes the hood and fenders have been repainted as a result of various rock chips. The original glass has been tinted and remains intact.
This E320 wagon wears staggered 17” AMG Monoblock wheels showing machine turned lips and measure 17x7.5" up front and 17x8.5" in the rear. The wheels are wrapped in new Continental Extreme Contact tires which were installed on 9/20/2021. The wheels show no signs of curb rash or bends while the Continental tires show new tread and no signs of uneven wear. An extra pair of rear 17x8.5" rear AMG Monoblocks are included with the sale as well as a square set of stock W124 wheels for use in winter, though the seller recommends replacement tires for the square set.
The cabin is trimmed in Black (171) MB-Tex across the seats, door cards, head rests, center console, and armrest. The OEM steering wheel has been replaced with a black leather and wood Nardi four-spoke steering wheel and Nardi wheel hub. A Zebrano wood-style knob has been added to match the wood veneers on the center console, dash, and door cards, and the original shift knob will be included in the sale. Interior features include power adjustable mirrors, power adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, and an aftermarket stereo. The OEM head unit has been replaced with a unit featuring bluetooth and auxiliary capabilities while the door speakers have also been upgraded. Aftermarket McIntosh and MBQuart amplifiers accompany the stereo modifications and the entire shell of the car has been wrapped in Dynamat insulation. The seller notes the rear headrests are missing. OEM Mercedes-Benz all-weather “HexMats” are included in the sale and shown in the gallery below. The 3rd row seat is included in the sale, and the rear amplifiers can be easily converted back and the 3rd row seat installed.
The analog odometer currently shows 109,100 original miles. Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6400-rpm redline, and an analog odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, an analog clock, and a digital external temperature gauge.
The 3.2-liter M104 inline six was rated at 217 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired to a 722.3 (4G-Tronic) automatic four-speed transmission. A recent compression test was performed at cold and warm temps and shows strong compression. Results can be seen in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Quaife limited-slip differential. A hard-to-find and rebuilt 2.7 ratio “Sportline” steering box from a W124 Sportline Sedan has been added to this example, making the steering ratio quicker than the standard 3.1 on stock S124’s. The seller notes that more than $10,000 has been spent ensuring this wagon has been properly restored. Photos of the underbody, subframe, chassis, and floor pans have been added to the gallery below showing build progress in various steps. Complete documentation is shown in the gallery as well and will be included in the sale.
Some key items the seller wishes to highlight during the restoration process are as follows, with more information in the photo gallery:
Suspension: All new SLS hard lines, SLS valve and replacement SLS rear shocks are installed. Complete front end rebuild with new control arms, strut mounts, hardware, bellows and Bilstein B6’s in front. All new tie rod ends, steering dampers and sway bar bushings have been installed. The accumulators have been replaced as well. The SLS system has been bled and functions properly. All rear suspension linkage has been replaced.
Brakes: All 4 calipers have been rebuilt, with new pads and rotors throughout. A brake fluid flush has been done.

Driveline: The driveshaft has been completely rebuilt and balanced with new mounts, center support bearings and flex discs. Rear wheel bearings have been replaced.
HVAC: A new Behr blower motor has been installed. There are no leaks within the A/C system and has been bled and recharged with r134a. The A/C blows correctly through the center vents with ice-cold A/C and hot heat. The entire cooling system has been bled, checked and tested as well, with a new thermostat and thermostat housing installed.
Engine & Fuel System: A new camshaft magnet has been installed. Valve cover gasket has been done, with no leaks. A replacement S124 fuel-level sender has been installed. Both fuel pumps have been replaced with new Bosch units, as well as the fuel tank filter and main fuel filter. The charcoal EVAP canister in the front fender has been replaced with a genuine unit. A new continental belt has been installed along with a new belt tensioner and pulley. New motor mounts have been installed.
Body: The entire underbody has been cleaned, rust prevention applied, and undercoated. All 4 window regulators have been replaced. The sunroof cassette has been completely rebuilt and functions correctly. A NOS replacement wagon sunroof cable has been installed.

OMG! Stolen in my humble opinion. I was seriously considering bidding farther but just arranged a deal for another V12 Mercedes. I never thought it would sell this “cheap”, for lack of a better word. Congratulations to the buyer on a fantastic looking car!

Hey everyone - we're down to the last 8 hours of the auction. Just wanted to say I've made my self available by phone all day to answer any questions. Send me a message directly with contact info and I'll reach right out! There are also 52 more photos available at the gallery link at the end of the listing, please check those out, too! Here is a direct link: https://app.box.com/folder/148776314200?s=0xfqafezsqostlbqgc09ubtsairbsavg
@sleezybeezy Ha, I can't imagine a blacker wagon then a 95 black on black, that's why it's been called the murder wagon (check the front plate). Good luck and thanks for the bid!
Needs more black.
@justfalcon - My mistake on the title issue - I have a car with a rebuilt title that was issued 70k miles ago and without seeing the documentation there is no way someone would know it. Interesting choice of venues for the photos. I know exactly where that is... GLWA!

I am new to this forum, having used BaT many times, as both I buyer and seller. Is there a private messaging function here or do we exchange contact info publicly to have a conversation directly with the seller? I have placed a bid and would like to discuss the car with the owner. I can be reached at 678-756-2796 . Thanks, Steve

@jayboundless1 Please refer to CoffeeKing54's comment/answer. As far as the event in 2009, I cannot speak much to it. What I can tell you is that I have had the entire interior, dash included, out, and the entire underbody, brake lines, suspension, etc. out and I didn't find any signs of a serious flood at all. Regardless, all underbody issues have been addressed, rust proofed and undercoated and the entire interior wiring checked, cleaned, and dynamatted (sound deadening).
Seller, can you speak to the extent of the flood damage? How deep? And how long was the car exposed to the water? Thanks in. Advance.
Not here for questions. Nice wagon, I’ll take it if I can. Good luck

@LWB250 It is not a "salvage" title, it has been rebuilt and passed inspection for that, there is a difference between the two. The title has been in a rebuilt status since 2010. And to clarify, the 109k is accurate as in prior to me restoring things, the reading on the actual odometer is correct and accurate to the chassis. It has since been driven roughly ~500mi with the new gearing, which was switched between the stock 2.65 to the 3.06, though in my highway testing using mile markers, is still very close. There is a speedometer with the correct gearing that comes with the sale, but want to leave that up to the new owner to swap odometers. If you mean "Frankenstein's Monster," it sure is fitting for the season - but other than the stereo, all items have been replaced with genuine and OE parts, the diff and Sportline steering box are all from period-correct Mercedes as are the genuine Lorinser spoiler and Nardi wheel. As mentioned in another comment, I'd be hard-pressed to find any better shape W124, regardless of carfax history than this. To the right enthusiast, a carfax alone is not the true sign of a quality vehicle and I think the work done on this wagon shows that - let alone finding another wagon with a Quaife LSD and the quickest ratio Sportline steering gear.
@CoffeeKing54 None at all. The entire dash, headliner, carpet and interior was removed to inspect and could not find any actual signs of water damage at all. It spending time in the Midwest, it had typical surface rust on the original rear subframe (which was replaced with a different one and recoated) and some of the suspension components, which were also all replaced. The entire underbody was cleaned, rust-proofed and undercoated. The interior carpet was all cleaned as well while it was out. No issues on the door cards, dash, interior or underbody. All the interior wiring and grounds were checked and cleaned up as well. If it wasn't for the carfax, you would never been able to tell it was marked as a flood car. Over the handful of W124's I've owned over the years, I've seen far worse from clean carfax low owner cars, ha. Not all of the photos were able to be placed on the auction gallery, so please see the link at the bottom of the listing to see more photos of the interior while it was out and underbody photos.
Are there any lingering affects from water damage to door cards, Dash, headliner, seats, leather etc.? Any odors or musty smells? Are the carpets new? Thank you

Mileage is "accurate and true" yet it's got a non-stock final drive ratio? I'm confused. A salvage title and numerous alterations makes this car a bit of a Frankenstein, no doubt appropriate for the season. Lots and lots of sunk costs here that are highly unlikely to be recovered in a sale. If the reserve is relatively low, someone will get a good deal. If the seller has unrealistic expectations based on the costs of the upgrades and modifications this will likely go RNM. Interesting car, should be an interesting auction. Get out the popcorn! GLWA!

Got it - thanks for clarifying! :) I have the Quaife LSD in a couple of my cars. Really nice ATB unit.
@gsxr Hey Dave...correct. ASR defeat switch has been done by placing a switch on pins 31 & 34 (per Elvind's post on http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-benz-performance-paddock/55692-diy-asr-defeat-switch-17.html). ABS is currently disabled. You'll also probably like to know after some sleuthing around, the LSD and I believe the Sportline box came from Ortolan's Turbo Technics build (if I recall, they went from him, somehow to Dave H out in CT, where I went and picked them up along with Crelean's Recaro seats).
Just confirming, ASR has been disabled, correct? Has ABS functionality been verified after the conversion?
@jayboundless1 Yes, they do. I just specify that because I've seen a lot of W124's where the A/C specifically doesn't go through the center vents. The entire HVAC system works as it should and holds its charge.
Seller states the a/c and heat blow through the center vents. Do the vent actuators function correctly to the lower, outer vents and defroster?
