This 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Sport is finished in Glacier White (143) over Helios (239) leather and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. It was first registered in Missouri and shows later history with previous registrations in Tennessee and North Carolina. Currently the SL is titled in Georgia and offered by the selling dealer with no additional dealer fees. Features include the SL1 AMG Sport styling package, SL2 Package with heated seats and Xenon headlights, a power retractable soft top, wind deflector, paint-matched hardtop, and automatic climate control. Recent services include a multi-point check, wheel balance check, cooling system check, and a current emissions inspection in Georgia. This R129 SL shows just 70k miles from new and is offered by the selling dealer with two key remotes, factory literature, leather service booklet, an original wind deflector, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The car is finished in Glacier White (143) and features the SL1 AMG Sport package which includes an AMG front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear apron along with factory staggered 18” AMG wheels. This example also features a power soft top, xenon headlights, fog lights, and a removable paint-matched hardtop. Light scuffs in the paint can be seen along the bottoms of the rockers and the nose shows light rock chips. The included Carfax report shows no history of accidents or damage.
Factory staggered 18” AMG wheels show machined lips and silver-painted faces. The wheels are wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact tires showing 2018 date codes. The tires measure 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear. The wheels appear free of any significant rash, curbing or peeling.
The cabin features seats trimmed in Helios (239) leather with a matching dashboard and carpets, while burl wood veneer accents on the center console and door panels. Amenities include power-adjustable heated front seats with position memory, automatic climate control, a wind deflector, a factory cassette stereo, and an auto-dimming mirror. Both seats show creasing with the driver’s seat showing wear on the outer bolster and a small tear in the seat bottom. The seller reports the A/C as cold and the automatic climate control as functional.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and clock along with gauges for fuel level, instant economy, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates just over 70k miles, approximately 3,800 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory-rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Recent services include a multi point check, wheel balance check, cooling system check, and a current emissions inspection in Georgia.
The provided Carfax report lists no accidents or damage along with linear mileage updates since new. This R129 SL shows just 70k miles and is offered with two key remotes, factory literature, leather service booklet, an original wind deflector, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The Devil is in the details, as they say, and no detail is more devilish on the R129 than the SL1 AMG Sport Styling package. This package added more aggressive bodywork on this reliable roadster including an AMG front spoiler, side skirts, and the rear apron along with AMG monoblock wheels. If you're not convinced that the SL1 package makes all the difference on these cars, take a look at the price divide between an SL1 car and a standard R129: the collectors know the difference and the sale prices reflect its desirability over the standard non-sport cars. This example - finished in a clean Glacier White - also adds the SL2 luxury package and the original paint-matched hardtop. While there are a lot of R129s out in the market, few of them check as many boxes as this one does, and all of them are gaining market momentum.

Congratulations to the winner. Great bidding, we know you will enjoy your new car!
Strongly agree with @unscripted - this is a lovely example of a late r129. Sport, Xenons, and that color combo makes this cool.
