This 1980 Mercedes-Benz 280TE is a European market car that was reportedly imported in the early 80's from Germany and now shows 129k miles. The car has spent time in Louisiana and Mississippi since import and was part of a collection of other grey market imports. Finished in Classic White (737) over Palomino Fabric (034), power is provided by a gasoline powered 2.8-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes central locking, factory roof rails, sliding sunroof, and heated front seats. Recent service included all fresh fluids, a cleaning of the fuel system, new spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, air filters, drive belts, brake master cylinder, calipers, rotors, pads, voltage regulator, battery, and tires. This 280TE wagon is now offered for sale by the selling dealer in New Orleans, Louisiana with the owner's manual, warning triangle, first aid kit, and clean Mississippi title.
The exterior is finished in Classic White (737) and features European spec bumpers and headlights including OEM roof cross bars. Chrome brightwork adorns both bumpers and beltline along with chrome roof rails, grill and mirror caps. Exterior features include headlight washers, a sunroof, heat-insulating glass and a heated rear window. A few scratches and rock chips can be seen around the car along with a small dent on the rear hatch as detailed in the gallery.
The factory 14” Bundt wheels wear Toyo Eclipse tires measuring 205/70 on all four corners with 2021 date codes. The optional alloy wheels show some imperfections commensurate with the mileage. A full service in 2023 included installation of the tires along with a new brake master cylinder, calipers, rotors, pads, and all rubber lines. A brake fluid flush was also performed and wheel bearings were re-packed at the same time.
The interior is upholstered in Palomino Fabric (034) with Zebrano wood trim accenting the dashboard. Interior amenities include central locking, a lockable glove compartment, an aftermarket head unit, 60/40 split-folding rear seats for through-loading, sliding sunroof, and heated front seats. A full-size spare is located in the cargo compartment with the factory cover. The factory rollerblind dividing the passenger and cargo compartment is also still fitted and pictured in the gallery.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer reads 129,500 miles, approximately 1k of which have been added by the seller since acquisition in October 2022.
This S123 is powered by a 2.8-liter DOHC inline-six rated at 185 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller has included underbody photos that are viewable in the photo gallery. Since the seller's acquisition in October 2022, the following maintenance items have been performed:

Congratulations to the winner! Wish I was closer to NOLA.
@katbeh The driving video is multiple videos spliced together. It's rolling the correct way, sorry for the confusion.

Its strange, in the driving video the mileage when he started the trip is 129423 and when ended the trip is 129422 as if it is going backward

@MBNJGuy Good question, as a Euro-market car this one doesn't have a Carfax included.
Is there a CarFax that can be shared?

@Carbine123 Thank you. If I get the car, I am considering driving it home to Washington, D.C. Can you please provide a few more details on the SLS strut leak? How complicated and costly would it be to get it fixed? Thanks again.
Seller, is this car road trip ready? I'd drive this to Wisconsin then home instead of the plane ticket and rental i've received. Can it be stored until early June? Thank you

As the auction winds down I will do my best to stay tuned in. Thanks to all for watching and participating .
@forsomemasses This car has been in the south since imported back in the 1990’s. It does show some rust but nothing major due to its age.
Such a beautiful unit! I love the color and all the little details that make it stand out from the 300TD. How's it holding up in terms of rust?
@Pakman We do not charge any dealer fees.
@kmr9146 Yes this wagon does have AC.
What fees will the dealer charge to the winning bidder?
Does this have AC?

Welcome to the another auction of mine. Apologies for arriving to the party a bit late but MB Market was a step ahead of me in efficiency. I will do my best to answer questions you may have to the best of my knowledge and in a timely manner. Please use the contact seller button if need be. Good luck and thanks so much for looking.
@MikeSierra AC and heat are working properly as of now but please bear in mind this is a 1980 vehicle. Regards
@DrAMG Hey there, This in fact does have heated seats and the glove box is operational.. I will refer to @MBMarket regarding another glove box mentioned. The car is in fact titled as a 1980. Regards
@300GWRO Thanks for your questions. This car was imported as far as I can tell in or around 1993 and daily driven for many years. As afar as storage goes it was indoors and I am unaware if fluids were drained or not. This car has been between Louisiana and Mississippi for it entire life in the US. Regards

A walk around, interior view, and driving video have been added to the listing.
Are the heating and A/C working properly?
$1,530 bid placed by @BD450SL
Great example! I love the 280TE and wish we had more of these models here, but they were rare to begin with with far fewer examples being imported into the US. The description used by MB Market needs to be checked. Says there’s a lockable glovebox when pictures show otherwise. Very rare options such as the heated seats are not mentioned. To the seller, the car is listed as a 1980. There are some features on the car that didn’t come out until very late 1980/1981. Could the car be in fact a 1981 model year?
Seller; very interesting listing appearing complete. You any idea the manner & number of years car stored?; climate controlled, near water, fluids managed/drained, and so on. Driving video & further underside pics available? Rust always a concern, Thanks, JN
