The W124 Mercedes is undeniably one of the most reliable and well-built Sacco-era cars to roll off the assembly line. The sharp lines and analog feel made this an enthusiast favorite since day one and moreover, these cars were built strong enough to withstand decades of abuse and stand the test of time to outlast any new car rolling off assembly lines today. This pre-facelift W124 comes with the early style front end and grille which is more reminiscent of the W126 design language and features the iconic Sacco-era lower body cladding. On top of a desirable green over tan color scheme, this 300E has received extensive maintenance including a thorough overhaul of nearly every major system. Combined with the reliability of the M103 engine, this car is sure to provide many more years of luxury motoring.

Just a little over an hour left to go. A few more maintenance items that I just noticed were not mentioned in the description. The drive shaft flex joints, the timing chain, and all the air intake hoses have been replaced. A set of new Mercedes carpeted floor mats go with the car as well.

I definitely agree the older Becker head units tend to have internal failure as they age. Personally I purchased a refurbished one from Becker with the bluetooth modification, a bit pricy but definitely worth it. Good luck to whoever wins this auction, the ones built back in the 70's, 80's and 90's were built so much better than the new ones. Would love to bid on this one but already have too many cars.

@MSerpe When I bought my W124, the radio head unit was giving an "E2" error. I was able to rectify the issue by sending the trunk mounted tuner/receiver to Becker for refurbishment. @Cdscollects is correct in that the internal circuitry has a tendency to fail at this age. The only other possibility is that the fader switch (located next to the window switches) may be faulty.
Hello fellow enthusiasts. I am new to the MB Marketplace and this is the first time I have listed a car on the site. I will do my best to answer any questions and welcome any in person inspections. I wanted to give a brief overview of this beautiful 300E. I originally purchased this car for my wife to use as a daily driver. It was a good solid car when I bought it, original paint and interior in great shape for a 30+ year old car, but as is the case with many cars that get sold there was some deferred maintenance that needed to be done to bring the car to the next level. There were seals that were leaking, the car had the original suspension components, climate control didn't operate as designed, etc. I then spent a year going through the systems of the car to make sure the common wear points of the car were renewed thinking I would have ownership of this vehicle for quite some time. Once all that work was done my wife thought the car was too nice to daily drive into a city to potentially get damaged in a parking garage. I got her a different car and this one has spent most of its time in our garage being used occasionally. The car drives beautifully, smooth and quiet. I am a big fan of the 126 and 124 series, the build quality is amazing. If I didn't have so many other cars I would keep this one.
@MSerpe The stereo was getting power but it would not function. I believe it is very common for these Becker units to have circuitry that burns out. I unplugged it since it wasn't working. As far as history of the vehicle, It started its life down south in Florida I believe. The first owner moved to New York and sold the car to the second owner who was also from New York in 2001. The second owner clearly loved the car and babied it until he was killed on 9/11, he worked in one of the towers. The car then sat garaged for a while until the third owner, who was a good friend of the second owner, purchased the car from the family in 2017. He rarely drove it and it sat in his garage until he sold it to me in 2021. I purchased the car because it had clearly been well maintained and garaged since new.
@cdscollects any ideas on why radio not working? Is it lacking power 12V or does it get power but the radio unit itself doesn't function? Since you have only had a couple years, can you provide any history on the car before you had it? thanks

Soooooooo many things replaced! These are the kinds of sales I like! I just bought my 8th W124, on this site, about a month ago, and still haven’t scratched that itch on owning more! GLWTA!
@nrajput90 Thank you very much. It clearly is a car that has been well loved by all of its previous owners.
Beautiful W124! You don’t see them often in green. GLWA!
