This 1997 Mercedes-Benz E420 Avantgarde Sport Estate was initially built for the German market. It was produced in April of 1997 and registered in Germany until 2013 when it was imported to Canada. The current owner and seller acquired the car in 2021 and has added approximately 3k miles since. The wagon is finished in Polar White (149) over Anthracite Leather (201) and powered by a 4.2L M119 DOHC V8 paired to a 5-speed automatic. This example features a strong options list including Option 772, the factory Sport package consisting of the AMG body kit, AMG exhaust, and Monoblock wheels. Additional options include Parktronic, Xenon headlamps, heated front seats, a rear-facing 3rd row bench, a power sunroof, and power front seats with memory. The seller notes that service records under their ownership will be included in the sale. This E420 wagon is offered for sale by the current owner in Canada and includes factory literature, service records, two key fobs, and a clean B.C. registration in the seller’s name.
Finished in Polar White (149), this wagon wears an AMG body kit, exhaust, and wheels to complete the factory-optional Sport package. The kit is the same installed for the E55 AMG wagons at the time and still shows the small AMG badge on the front lip. The exterior shows in good condition and features Xenon headlamps, lower fog lamps, power windows, a glass sunroof, power folding side mirrors, and factory roof rails. The seller notes this example to be rust-free with no major blemishes or issues. The headlamp washers are disconnected and the power folding mirrors are noted to be inoperable.
Factory staggered AMG Aero II Monoblocks are mounted and measure 18x8 and 18x9 respectively. The wheels show well with age-related imperfections and OEM centercaps installed. Blacklion tires are shown up front measuring 235/40 and showing 2016 date codes and for the rear, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires are shown measuring 265/35 with 2017 date codes shown. Tucked beyond the wheels are red-painted calipers.
The cabin is trimmed in Anthracite Leather (201) across the seats, door cards, and steering wheel. The dashboard and center console show well with no cracks shown around the airbag panel on the dashboard; an area commonly known for heat-related cracking. Rare Black Birdseye veneer accents the cabin and shows some fading around the shifter area and upper center console. Cabin features include heated front seats with memory settings, Parktronic for the front and rear, a rear-facing bench seat for the third row, and an aftermarket head unit with Bluetooth. AMG-embroidered floor mats are shown for the footwells.
The leather-trimmed steering wheel frames the original VDO gauge cluster with AMG printed on the center dial. The LCD display shows a clock, outside temperature, miles, and trip counter. The ancillary gauges show coolant temperature and fuel level. This wagon shows 177k km (~110k miles).
Powered by a 4.2L M119 DOHC V8, this E420 was rated for 282 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed 722.6 automatic transmission. An aftermarket intake is installed and easily reversible. The seller has kept service records during their ownership showing oil services. Underside photos are shown in the gallery.
This E420 wagon is offered for sale by the current owner in Canada and includes factory literature, service records, two key fobs, and a clean B.C. registration in the seller’s name.
The seller has included the following video:
There’s something so inherently appealing and classic about a Mercedes-Benz wagon...particularly so when it comes with a DOHC V8 and AMG styling. While the long-roof style isn’t for everyone, those that do like it truly love it (you know who you are) and swear by the utility. We can’t deny the appeal of the design with seating capacity for 7 and cargo room sufficient for a month-long vacation. It’s worth noting this 210 chassis wagon is a rear-wheel drive example which provides significantly more ease for tuning and better MPGs. Beyond the obvious, those in the US shoiuld pay attention to the options we rarely see. Power folding mirrors, Parktronic, Xenons, etc makes this wagon competitive in power and features with much more modern traffic. Pair all this with a classic color combination, and those oh-so-handsome Monoblocks this ones already checking all our boxes.

@rickybach As is typical with these cars, the headliner has a slight sag in it.@rickybach Recent oil change, transmission fluid change, radiator hoses and coolant replaced, cam oiler tubes replaced, new (rebuilt) rack and pinion, new front rotors and brake pads, new spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. Replaced steering angle sensor as well as the parktronic control module, new tie rod ends, replaced fuel filter and fuel line..@EnjoyLife69 US $In picture 107, is the headliner sagging a bit? Edit: and do you have photos of the service records or a list of what has been done recently? Thanks! Is this USD or CAD $@Matt_M3 Yes, the wagon is located in Smithers, BC. 12 hour drive approximately to Vancouver.Could you confirm the wagon is in Smithers, BC and you are approximately 12 hours north of Vancouver?Cheeky bid. I like it sir I got that white W 124 from BAT a few months back She may need a friend…@JPNMBZ Thank you for the clarification.@atchisvw EPA and DOT documents would still be required, like any other import under the 25 year rule, the importer would just check the box on said form for exemption due to being 25 (or 21 years in the EPA case) but they will still have to be filled out and filed for entry but this would all be handled by the buyer.$7,469 bid placed by @Matt_M3

A video has been added to the listing.Nice optioned car, one of my concerns would be importing to Kentucky. Any idea what those costs might be.@jfree97 I'm not sure about the cost of shipping to California. I would suggest flying up here to northern BC and enjoying a one in a lifetime road trip back to California. I have no reason to think that it wouldn't pass emissions testing. She’s a tasty looking bit Roadtrip!BOY do I want this.I didn't read the location...no direct flights from NYC, so about 10-18 hrs. of flying, 5000 mile drive back...No big deal. That'd be one serious shakedown.I'd love to see this in my stable next to my other MB's! I'm a big road tripper so I would love to fly in and drive her the 2300+ miles back to AZ. Getting to Smithers BC is the big challenge. Let's see where this one goes to on the bidding.I'm generally not a huge fan of slamming things, but here's the exception.Wow, what an AWESOME thing to see.About how much would shipping be to Southern California? Also, do we know how easy or difficult it'd be to pass CA emissions?$4,200 bid placed by @amusicianslife
