This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300TE-24 3.4 AMG was ordered in Germany and received modifications from then independent Affalterbach tuning house AMG. The datacard shows option code 990 showing the car was destined for AMG from new with the full optics package and engine upgrade. AMG modifications include a 3.4L AMG tuned engine, AMG fitted exhaust, interior code 778 AMG interior wood package, AMG suspension, 280-KPH AMG speedometer, Recaro leather seats, and 17" OZ Racing wheels. Finished in Black (040U) over Beige Leather (275A), power is provided by a bored and stroked 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission turning the rear wheels. Recent service includes oil, oil filter, spark plugs, new cooler, underbody protection, and shows partial records from 2006. Factory equipment includes power sunroof, electrically adjustable steering wheel, electric heated Recaro seats, Becker Grand Prix 2000 head unit, and a wood paneled storage box between the front seats. Now with 194KM (120k miles), this "baby Hammer" AMG Wagon is being offered by the selling dealer in Munich, Germany with an AMG stamped engine block, records since 2006, original manufacturer's literature, a W124 AMG brochure, in-period AMG European parts catalogs, AMG leather satchel, original AMG build sheet, and a Swedish title.
This S124 has a full AMG optioned body kit and Code 990 denoting it was destined to be sent to Affalterbach for modifications when it was produced which includes a front air dam, side skirts, and rear bumper. The Gen 1 AMG Hammer bodywork is finished in classic Black (040U) with paint matched grill surround, painted door handles, trim, and three pointed star on the grill. The full exterior underwent a professional repaint in the original color approximately 5 years ago under the most recent owner's care. Exterior equipment includes 500E headlights, front fog lights in bumper, a power-adjustable passenger mirror, power antenna, power rear hatch wiper, a power tilt/slide sunroof, vacuum actuated central locking, and a dual-exit AMG exhaust. Light rock chips are present that align with the milage and no rust is on the body.
The paint-match 17” three-piece AMG Aero III wheels by OZ Racing come fitted with Vredestein Ultrac 235/45 front and rear tires with 2023 date codes. A full sized 15-hole Mercedes-Benz wheel is shown in the rear hatch compartment. ASR slip control and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are fitted as standard. Underbody photos show AMG shocks still installed.
The front and rear sport seats are wrapped in Beige Leather (275A) while the polished Burl Walnut trim graces the shift knob, center console, dashboard, and door panels. This AMG has option 244 checked, fitting it with Recaro built sport seats also seen in the 500E that have both power adjustments and two-mode heat. Other appointments are cruise control, automatic climate control, floor mats, and a Becker Grand Prix 2000 head unit. Slight cracking in the shifter panel trim veneer can be seen. The rear hatch door feature soft-close functionality and is fully operational.
The 390mm leather AMG steering wheel fronts an AMG-specific 280-KPH speedometer along with an 8k-RPM tachometer, an analog clock, oil pressure gauge, fuel read out, and coolant temperature gauge. The six-digit odometer shows 194k kilometers from new or 120k miles.
The original 3.0-liter M104 inline six engine was bored and stroked to 3.4-liters by AMG in Germany and fitted with custom AMG camshafts which help the engine to produce a silky 272-horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque that’s sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed 722.3 automatic transmission. Services performed for the sale include a fresh oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new cooler, and underbody protection. AMG stickers denoting the engine upgrade are found on the radiator support and valve cover, and the M104 has an AMG stamped engine block.
The car comes with partial service records dating back to 2006 and the original AMG build sheet and option 990 checked denoting it was destined to be built as a 300TE-24 3.4 AMG. Of all 124 chassis 3.4 AMG versions, the wagon is reportedly the most rare. This S124 comes with the original literature satchel with AMG embossed in the leather, in-period AMG European parts catalogs, AMG build sheet, fire extinguisher, Euro trailer hitch, tool kit, and double roller blind net. The car spent the last 12 years in Sweden and is now back home in Germany with the current selling dealer with a clean Swedish title.
Videos provided by the seller below show a walk around, engine and interior view of the car.
You’re a wealthy German in 1991 with 106,000 Deutsche Marks burning a hole in your pocket and you’re wanting to buy a new car. The reasonable thing would be to buy a new S-Class for the family. Plenty of power, lots of rear legroom, and a big trunk to fit luggage for a cross-continent jaunt. That’s too sensible of a thing to do, however. Instead, you go to a Mercedes-Benz dealership and order a 300TE-24 with the hottest, most advanced 3.0 in-line six money can put in a station wagon. You lean over the salesman’s desk and firmly say, “I want it to go faster.” He grins and pulls out a little black pamphlet that says AMG in silver font. 40,000 additional Deutsche Marks in AMG options later, your base DM 67,000 300TE-24 has spilled into the six-figure range and you’ve created a new genre of vehicle that enthusiasts all over the world over lust after today: The Sport Wagon. AMG was there years before the Audi RS2 Avant debuted and a whole year before the BMW E34 M5 Touring went into production. This 300TE-24 3.4 is the genesis for the sport wagon genre. The M104 in stock form is a masterpiece, but becomes a whole other animal when AMG puts it under the knife and extracts huge power out of it in an era where anything over 200 horsepower was considered hot. Imagine sitting in the left lane of the Autobahn in a new 500SL with the speedo pegged at 250-KPH and you’re getting flashed by traffic moving faster than you. You’re the king of the road, what’s flashing you to get over? Right blinker on, one lane change later, and a black station wagon blows your doors off. Just imagine that in period! This S124 AMG is one of the best to come from the mad scientists at AMG Germany and with AMG paperwork, this is one of the best documented in-period examples built.

Listing mentions AMG steering wheel, but the pics show what looks to be a standard stock MBZ wheel.... Can @seller elaborate please? Will seller also assist with paperwork/shipping to the States?
Hello, Nice car for sure, can I ask where is it located ? By chance do you know of any 94 - 95 E320 Cabriolets ? 5164910227 Thank You zilko
@Kilacammm is to come
@mikeammain it was first delivered in Germany (there is a copy of the old german title of the car) and at the moment it has Swedish Title from the last owner.
That AMG paperwork is like gold! Highly impressive documentation and a wagon nonetheless. Considering the 6.0 version is a million dollar car today, this baby Hammer with docs might be the buy of the century.
