This 1997 Mercedes-Benz E60 RS RENNtech began life as an E420 Sport from the factory. In 1999, the original owner turned the car over to RENNtech for a full 6.0L RS conversion. Finished in Glacier White (143) over Anthracite (201) Leather, this E60 RS is one of the earlier W210 E60’s produced by RENNtech and features widened metal fenders and modified ground effects. Power comes from a RENNtech-tuned 6-liter M119 V8 which is sent to the rear wheels through a reinforced 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission. Additional modifications from RENNtech include an Alcon big brake kit, adjustable suspension suspension, a limited-slip-differential, stainless steel exhaust, OZ Racing wheels, a custom interior, and much more. Recent service in March 2022 included a full multi-point inspection and oil service at the dealer. The seller acquired the car in 2017 and the odometer currently displays 84k miles. The car is now offered by the seller with factory literature, RENNtech catalogs and receipts, photos documenting the build, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a Clean Texas title.
Finished in Glacier White (143), this E60 RS features a RENNtech widebody conversion consisting of custom metal flared fenders. The car left the factory with an AMG body kit as a Sport Package option and now features a custom RENNtech-designed body kit which includes molded front and rear bumpers and a 3-piece lip spoiler. Other exterior features include OEM xenon headlamps with automatic washers, a glass sunroof, flat hood badge, and tinted windows.
The staggered multi-piece OZ Racing F1 wheels measure 18x8.5 up front and 18x10 in the rear and are currently wrapped in Nitto NT05 tires measuring 245/40 and 285/35 respectively with 2016 date codes. The wheels feature silver painted faces and brushed aluminum lips with the original OZ center caps still installed. Behind the wheels, a RENNtech-branded Alcon big brake kit boasts 14” calipers up front and 12” in the rear. The car sits firmly on lowered suspension by RENNtech with Koni shocks and uprated springs. Additional modifications include a reinforced rear subframe, rear lower camber adjusters, and performance sway bars in the front and rear. A full-size OZ spare wheel and tire are located in the trunk floor.
The Anthracite leather interior was retrimmed by RENNtech to feature White leather inserts on the seats and door cards, along with matching piping around the seats. Other interior modifications include a wood and leather wrapped steering wheel and white RENNtech gauges. The original set of RENNtech floor mats remain in place embossed with “RENNtech E60.” RENNtech also installed a K40 radar detector with front and rear laser diffusers. Factory options include multi-contour heated front seats with position memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, and burl wood accents on the center console, dash, and doors.
Instrumentation was modified by RENNtech with new white gauge faces accented with blue numbering and icons. The speedometer now reads up to 200mph and the tachometer to the right shows a 6k rpm redline. The analog readouts to the left display fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer displays just over 84k miles and all pixels are in working order.
Power is derived from a fully built 6.0 liter M119 V8 from RENNtech sporting an aftermarket crank, rods, pistons, and valve train along with an added oil cooler kit. A complete stainless steel exhaust was also built and installed by RENNtech including resonators and tips stamped with the original RENNtech logo. RENNtech rates the E60 RS at 420 horsepower and a staggering 472 lb-ft of torque.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or damage along with documented linear mileage updates since new. This 1997 RENNtech E60 RS is offered with factory literature, a full-size OZ spare wheel and tire, RENNtech catalogs and receipts, photos documenting the build, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a Clean Texas title.
Driving, acceleration, and walk around videos have been provided below.
The fit and finish on RENNtech's E60 conversions really was above and beyond any other tuning house of the era. In 2020 we, here at The MB Market, had the chance to sit down with the individual who hand-formed each and every widebody fender for these cars and we were able to see photos of the process step by step. We’ve also had the pleasure of discussing these cars in depth with the mastermind behind them and founder of RENNtech, Hartmut Feyhl. Hartmut was originally the North American director for AMG in the pre-merger days and was responsible for building the legendary AMG Hammers. In short, RENNtech is more than just another Mercedes tuning company. Their roots go much deeper than that with expertise and quality that cannot be matched.
Creating these cars was just as much an art form thus every E60 RS presents as such. While most builds of this nature wouldn’t stand the test of time, these cars and engines were built with longevity in mind and to this day still tout greater performance stats than most new cars rolling off assembly lines today. The datacard notes this specific example as an E420 Sport which ups the rarity quotient and desirability as not all conversions came with an AMG body kit or flared fenders. According to Hartmut, approximately 60 total E60 conversions were built and far less than half of those were wide bodied, and even fewer full RS specs. Keep in mind, the lesser E55 wasn’t offered stateside until 1999 so this RENNtech was otherworldly in 1997. So much so that many celebrity car enthusiasts ordered one with the most famous being Jerry Seinfeld’s E60 which is still on display at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center today. WIth an original build sheet totalling $107k in 1999, this E60 RS offers brute performance, pre-merger AMG heritage, ultra rarity, and a taste that’s acquired only by those who can appreciate the finer things in life.

I communicated with Renntech about this car, and it's def not CARB compliant as originally designed. In theory you could change out the cats as @gsxr suggested. That being said, I'm super wary of CA registration issues as they're really strict so I sadly had to pass on this one.
Seems like great value right now, comparable with recent BaT auctions for W210 E55s with similar miles.
@Don_Draper I have another e60 that I bought few years ago with the same RENNtech RS package which was registered in California.
@Don_Draper, I owned one that was registered in CA prior to my ownership. They will pass the emissions tailpipe test without problems if the engine is running properly. However, CA typically requires the catalysts to have CARB approval (EO), and if the existing cats do not have this, you might have to replace them with CARB-approved units.
Anybody know if this car would pass CA emissions or heard of one these registered in CA before?

@JaRS... and a driving video too.
TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS BEAST! If I could I would trade my 708hp 2013 Renntech ML63 P30! Who ever gets is a lucky person as far as I'm concerned. Good luck bidding!
Do you have a walk-around video? Both exterior and interior.
Some of the most recent service work would include new spark plugs coils with boots and all. Valve cover seals, timing chain, fuel filter, motor and transmission mounts using only original MB parts. All fluids, brakes and etc were recently checked and serviced by a MB local dealer. Brakes and rotors are used but still in good condition, the car has some spare new and used pads as well.
@samb can you share what if any service work has been done on consumables outside of oil change (e.g., brake rotors, pads, fluids, etc.) in the last 6 months or so?
A video has been added to the listing above.
@WANNAALLCARS, RENNtech will still do builds like this today, but you need to hand them a blank cheque and not fuss about the cost. For example, they just did a bonkers 7.6L V12 upgrade in a 1992 600SEL, see link below: https://www.thedrive.com/news/this-tuned-renntech-s76r-s-class-mercedes-makes-615-hp-from-a-7-6-liter-v12
About 15-18 years ago there was a gray one for sale in CT at a Benz dealer. They had limited info on the car besides it was a wealthy clients car. I was unsure and bought a supercharged Dinan 7 series instead. Always thought about that car and it sold cheap as the dealer didnt want it there a sit was modified. Started my long love affair with Renntech cars. Wish they did full builds like that today.
Hi everyone, thanks for the bids. Let me know if there are any questions I’ll be happy to answer.

@gsxr Thanks, so it's more about the smog test being an issue than the registration. There's always something with California!
$3,000 bid placed by @JaRS
@MBMarket, the listing states this car has headers, but the factory cast-iron exhaust manifolds are visible in photo #167. Tubular headers were a rare option on the RENNtech E60 builds. There was not a substantial power gain with the headers, which might be why RENNtech didn't make them standard equipment.
Does it have a car fax?
Yes it is a USA market car, but registering in CA depends how thorough the emissions inspection is when importing. The catalysts are performance aftermarket units, not Mercedes factory cats. Not sure if that matters, but it's worth investigating.
Am I correct in assuming that as this was originally a US market car, there would be no issues with registering in CA, it has the CARB sticker, etc.?
Awww, c'mon, JAB... you know you want one of each color! LOL! :D
$2,500 bid placed by @mercedesbenzman
For the wellbeing of my wallet, thankfully this one is white. Pretty neat example. Good luck with Auction.
Beautiful car! Looks like it had almost every RENNtech option except tubular headers. Nice factory options too, with HID's, and heated orthopedic seats. Will there be driving videos posted? Link to datacard: https://www.lastvin.com/vin/5ognYdmlaNDJAOzr3
