This 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was sold new in Pennsyvania where it remained until relocating to Maryland in 2015. Finished in Black (040) over Black Nappa Leather (231), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The car features the desireable SL2 package which includes xenon headlights, heated front seats, and an integrated trunk-mounted BOSE 6-disc CD changer. Additional equipment includes a removable panoramic glass hardtop, a power soft top, remote central locking, automatic climate control and a roll bar with a removable wind deflector. The seller reports recent maintenance includes a new soft top, new brake rotors and pads, a new battery, all fresh fluids, and an oil service. Now with only 40k miles, this SL500 is offered for sale with original manufacturer’s literature, two key Fobs, a hardtop stand, wind deflector, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) with a paint-matched removable glass panoramic hardtop. A black automatic soft top can also be raised and lowered with the push of a button. The seller reports that a new soft top was recently fitted and all hydraulic cylinders were serviced. Exterior equipment includes Xenon headlamps, front fog lights, heated power door mirrors and remote central locking. The Carfax reports no accidents or damage from new and all paint is believed to be original.
The 17” 5-slot Albali wheels are wrapped in a set of General G-Max tires which measure 245/45 on all four corners. The brake pads and rotors were reportedly replaced 2 months ago. A spare tire is mounted in the trunk along with the factory tool kit and jack.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Nappa Leather (231) with Burl Walnut wood trim accenting the center console and door panels. Both front seats are heated with 10-way power adjustability and three-position memory. Interior amenities include a power tilt/telescope steering column, automatic climate control, cruise control, a pop-up roll bar, a trunk-mounted 6-Disc CD changer and a BOSE audio system. A removable draft deflector which mounts to the roll bar will accompany the car.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The digital odometer currently reads approximately 40k miles from new.
This R129 is powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 which is rated for 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed 722.6 automatic transmission. The seller reports recent maintenance includes a new soft top, new brake rotors and pads, a new battery, all fresh fluids, and an oil service.
The Carfax report lists linear mileage updates, and no accidents or damage since new. This SL500 is now offered for sale in Vienna, Virginia with the original manufacturer’s literature, two key Fobs, a hardtop stand, wind deflector, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.
Driving footage of the car along with a video showing the soft top operation are provided below.

Congratulations to the high bidder and seller on a successful sale post auction.
Absolutely correct. Probably not the best time to sell.
Sadly today, it was kinda like an old friend of mine says all the time "What something is worth and what someone is willing to pay, are normal two different numbers". Nice Car, sorry ya didn't get it sold.

A nice looking car! More underside postures please! Any rust? Also a top powered down video? What major items might need replacement in the next few years? Thank you!
