This 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6 was first registered in Texas with subsequent registrations in California and most recently Georgia under the current owner since August 2022. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Gray MB-Tex (178), this W201 is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six M103 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes an electric tilt/slide sunroof, power adjustable front seats, cruise control, updated R134 air-conditioning and an aftermarket Continental head unit with auxiliary input and Bluetooth. Recent maintenance records show substantial servicing over the last two years with comprehensive records included. Showing just over 95k miles on the odometer, this 190E 2.6 is now offered with manufacturer's literature, two keys, a clean Carfax report and clean Georgia title.
The exterior is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) paint with contrasting dark gray lower body cladding and a paint-matched rear spoiler. Exterior features include a power adjustable passenger side mirror, an electric tilt/slide sunroof, euro headlights and factory blue-tinted heat insulating glass. The seller notes rock chips across the nose of the car and a hairline crack in the low front valance. Additionally the hood and trunk display two small spots of acid-etching noted by the seller.
Original Gullideckel wheels are shown and wear Michelin tires measuring 195/65 on all four corners with 2021 date codes displayed. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard with the pads, rotors, and fluid being replaced in 2021.
The cabin is upholstered in Gray MB-Tex (178) with Sport trim accenting the center console. Interior amenities include a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, power adjustable front seats and cruise control. An aftermarket Continental head unit with auxiliary input and Bluetooth replaces the OEM Becker unit. The factory-optioned air conditioning works well and all powered functions work as intended according to the seller with the rear right window regulator and power antenna being replaced in 2021 under previous ownership.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer with a six-digit analog odometer which reads just over 95k miles. Other gauges include a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel level indicator, coolant temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge and an analog clock. Below sits a row of warning lights along with a digital outside temperature indicator and controls for the resettable trip odometer.
This W201 is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six M103 engine which is factory rated at 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. @BabyBenzFan Perhaps! This is my only car I've owned that was not original - and I enjoyed having the subtle updates. My rule of thumb is as long as it is reversible I can enjoy it, whereas botching everything up definitely diminishes value. All of the Sportline trim is OEM and rare for a W201. All of that trim is also very expensive to source. The cassette holder was replaced with an OEM delete compartment for European models which I not only found to be more aesthetically pleasing, but also more useful. If I were to have kept the car longer, I would have probably installed a double din McIntosh head unit with the sound voltage meter. You could always go back to the original radio, but having modern speakers without cutting anything in my opinion is huge win. All of this of course will be in the hands of the new owner. I always saw the W201 as the potential tuner of the Mercedes world since there were so many kits available for them, the Cossie stuff, and even the modern engine swaps that people do to these. They have also been in the public eye in pop culture recently, and a Evo II will be the face of the Need for Speed video game. I admit I am a young guy with an old soul, but this car made me feel more youthful. There is my two cents on the matter :) Thank you for the kind words about my car!
I think the current bid is under the money for this car given that there aren't many W201s left with less than 100,000 miles on them and with all of the maintenance work that's recently been done. This car should be good to go for a very long time. I do think that a good concours detailing and paint correction would've gone a long way in enhancing this car's value and helped it to achieve a higher price. The "subtle updates" many make it look more "youthful" but I've learned in MB world that originality is key. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

@snelan Thank you for the input! I appreciate it.
If I could chime in, I've owned a few 190E's now with fluttering, working and non-working fuel gauges. In every single case I was able to simply remove the gauge cluster and reseat the fuel gauge solenoid. This takes about 30 mins and requires no parts. This solved the problem and I've never had the issue come back.

@BabyBenzFan W201 owners unite! It is truly an issue that never really bothered me and seemed to function accurately in the several thousand miles I put on the car this summer. Luckily, there are a lot of maintenance items that are commonly neglected on these cars that have been tended to on this one. I think the subtle modifications and all original paint on this specimen make for a more youthful example of just how great these baby benzes are.
@rubinhoward600, as a W201 owner, the fluttering fuel gauge sounds to me like the fuel gauge will need to be replaced. This isn't a big deal and it shouldn't prevent anyone from buying the car. However to get the best price, you really want to show the car off in the best possible light. Replacing the fuel gauge would do so. I still think the current bid for this car is way low given the extensive amount of work that's been done and that the car has less than 100,000 miles on it. W201s with less than 100,000 miles on them are getting rarer by the day. I wish you GLWTA.
@TeutonicTravels The fuel gauge works with precision. I have calculated fuel consumption, range, and how much fuel I am refueling and came to the conclusion that the fluttering is just a quirk I would live with. I have a theory it has to do with the subwoofer, since it tends to move to the beat of music... lol (kind of like a sound voltage meter I didn't ask for). The carbon I am unsure of, but the exhaust does not sound like it is leaking. The car has had considerable suspension work done and I consider the car to handle very well amongst the 190s that I have driven. Come test drive it if you are local.
Question on the freeway driving vid...the fuel gauge seems to flutter around a bit...is there an issue with it? Also seems like the turn signals may not be working? Also, in the underside pics, do you know the cause of the carbon on the front of the muffler? Looks like it leaks perhaps? Sorry one more; any idea if or when suspension bushings were done? Appear original, if that's possible (possibly cause of minor rattles on bumps in road driving vid?) Thank you!
@roup1 yes I have all recent receipts for the work done. Just about $14,000 worth of maintenance, parts, and labor was put into this car before I acquired it.
Hi, any service history or receipts?
Additional underside photos have been added to the gallery along with driving videos.

@Herbie, unfortunately I do not have the original radio. They shouldn't be too difficult to source though. I can help you source it.
Hello, Nice car! Do you still have the original radio?

Hello everyone, Thank you for your interest in my 190e 2.6! This is a turnkey car that has been gone through with a fine tooth comb. I purchased this car from the previous owner who owns a Mercedes-Benz service center intended for this car to act as his daily driver. The car drives like a brand new 190e and is extremely original. The car bears its original paint (with some assumed imperfections) but has benefited from cosmetic refreshes such as the rear spoiler, modern continental head unit and speakers, as well as the OEM sportline trim (which is very cool to see on a Mercedes of this vintage). I have a driving video upload on the way alongside photos of the receipts and undercarriage. Happy bidding!
