@Armenian, @2nd_chance_steel, I think you both hit it. 4.3 these days is no big deal. But this car was doing it 17 years ago. And in order to get it now, you have to go top of the food chain. I can second the statement about the top end. Mine is the CLS63. I’ve broken the back end loos a couple times mashing it at 65 mph. And you run out of courage before you run out of road. It’s a beautiful ride. A more informed assessment of the airmatic would be helpful. GLWTA.
To those who might know, any speculation about these entries on the VMI: ***5/21, 8/20, 1/19 , 12/18, and 12/17 services reflect "hydraulic oil" -- is this likely flush/replace of the MBC system fluid? ***There is an 8/20 "vehicle towed" and then a "struts, rear, replace" -- likely MBC failure? If yes, why would the extensive 2021-22 services been needed? ***4/2011 & 1/2013 services reflect "needs work/cust declined-see story" -- any ideas what that may have been about? Deferred MBC service?
Yeesh, those 2021-22 repairs invoices!! Not sure whether to relax and believe it’s all been taken care of, or go hide afraid that it hasn’t been.
@carbine123, thanks for your response. I will watch for the VMI. Sent you a message; did you receive it?
It’s a very good looking lot, and that list of services is impressive. Do you know when brakes (rotors) were last done or when the coil packs were last replaced? And is there any electrical item in the interior - seat adjustments, visor lights, windows, soft close doors, etc. - that is not working? Thanks.
Alas, I have the coin to buy it but I fear not maintain it. But, oooooooh, if I did.... GLWTA, and cheers to the winner.
@Carbine123, can you clarify the record some. You say you bought it from the original woner about a year and half ago. But the carfax shows it was sold through a dealership at about that time from the fifth owner. Also, Is there any documentation of what all the mechanic owner did in going "through the car since he is an expert and wanted it to safely carry his wife and infant daughter"? Because notwithstanding the positive tone of @Static50's post, "everything that needs to be working properly does" is a pretty subjective measure.
A well presented car, @seller. Do you have any professional assessment of the ABC system? The writeup says the Pioneer head unit has bluetooth capability, but that there is also COMAND navigation. Was some aspect of the OEM system preserved? Lastly, Is there anything -- ANYTHING -- that is not operative, eg. front seat bolsters, rear sunshade, rear seat heaters, etc?
Hoping @seller or another member can help -- would these fit a W219 CLS63? I can never figure the offset issue out. Thanks.
No GPS, no bluetooth, no satellite radio, no seat warmers or vents, hand-crank windows, and 67 hp. And yet this car is so lustworthy. As long as the earth is spinning, it will do perfectly what it was designed to do, and do it with style. Bravo.
“reVVed to show maximum sound”
@219AMG Thanks for your response. Are the headers also from Weistec, or only the tune? If so, what brand are the headers? Did you do the work yourself? And do you still have the factory parts? I did search YouTube before I posted my request for a vid. All the clips there are either of cars being revived to show maximum sound or also have the weistec supercharger installed. So a video clip would be helpful if you could. Also, have the headbolts been replaced? I appreciate it.
@219a,g - also, is the dash crack just in the lacquer or in the wood itself? Do you know how that happened? Thanks.
@219amg - it is a beautiful looking ride. It’s changed hands a LOT. Any insight on its history or service records other than what’s indicated on the Carfax? Do you know if the head bolts have been replaced? Could you provide cold start, idle, and cruising videos so we can hear the effect of the headers? What is the mileage like with the headers and the tune? Much thanks.
@djc1117-- 'preciate the reply.
@djc1117 -- another question: in the 12/2021 inspection report, have those items that needed tending to (brake pads, shocks/suspension, and cooling system) been addressed? If yes, can you post an invoice for the service? If not, can you provide more detail on why those items were flagged for needing immediate attention?
@djc1117, are you sure it is four-zone? usually there is a unit like this at the back of the front seat center armrest, https://w220.wiki/images/0/06/W220_rear_climte_control.jpg
@djc1117, Thanks for the prompt response. It's a beautiful ride. By "rear seat climate control" I actually meant zoned HVAC. I thought all the S-class AMG's had four-zone standard. Good point re: the wheels. One other question -- do you know any history of the ABC system on the car?
Also, any idea how hard or how much to find the two-piece wheels that came on the 2006?
Did these not all have rear seat climate control? Was it an "option delete" or removed for some reason?
