@mikelaca The acceleration numbers are almost identical, but the driving characteristics are totally different. I have had four of these and four 600s. This car has a growl sound and a 600 is more sublime and understated. I love them all. I have an 05 S600, an 08 CL600 and an 09 S600 which my wife uses as her daily driver. It’s hard not to love any of them! This car drives great!

Reserve has been lifted. best of luck to all bidders. Someone is going to get a great car!
@Static50 How do you compare the acceleration, smoothness through the rev range/torque curve, transmission downshifts, general performance vs the S600 car(s). BTW, what years are your other 600s/65s?

@jcd214 I can’t speak to what was done before I purchased it. I think the seller, as a dealer, purchased it for the mechanic we use for him to use as a daily driver. He found an S65 and decided to sell this S55, so feeling confident that the car had been gone through by my mechanic I decided to buy it. I didn’t ask what he had to do to get it where he wanted it. All I remember doing is buying Cocomats and probably new tires, since I almost always buy new tires. I think I had him get the wheels refinished, or he had already done it. Sorry I can’t answer any more questions. But the car drives great!
@Carbine123, can you clarify the record some. You say you bought it from the original woner about a year and half ago. But the carfax shows it was sold through a dealership at about that time from the fifth owner. Also, Is there any documentation of what all the mechanic owner did in going "through the car since he is an expert and wanted it to safely carry his wife and infant daughter"? Because notwithstanding the positive tone of @Static50's post, "everything that needs to be working properly does" is a pretty subjective measure.
It’s funny to me that after daily driving this for about 7,000 miles I never knew that the original phone was still in the console! Again, this is a great daily driver and hopefully it sells to someone who drives the heck out of it!

I can't attest to this particular car, but I bought a very well-sorted 134k mile '05 just over a year ago and over the last 6k miles or so have become totally smitten. Static50 is correct. It's a truly rewarding automobile. GLWTA.

I am the long time client of the seller who has been driving it for about eight months or so. I am posting before speaking to the seller. He originally secured the car for another client who happens to be my Indy mechanic. Seller and I both use him. He bought it for himself after working on my 05 S600. He loved my 600 but is younger than me and wanted an AMG version similar to my 600. When he took possession of the car through this seller he went through the car since he is an expert and wanted it to safely carry his wife and infant daughter. He’s been a Mercedes tech for years, working for the dealer for 6-7 years before going on his own, among other jobs from traveling the world dealing with race cars to preparing million dollar cars for auction. He is truly an expert. I currently have three other S classes, all V12s. I have owned four S55s, four E55s, and although not supercharged, two C55s. I am very familiar with these cars although I work on none of them! When my mechanic found an S65, he wanted to sell this, and knowing his attention to making sure it was in top shape for his use, I decided to buy it. Of all of the four S classes I had at the time, the three V12s which I still own, this was the only one that never had to spend time with him in his shop. It truly is amazing how comfortable, fast and reliable they are. With these miles, I wasn’t sure what to expect since it was the highest mileage car I ever had bought. This car helped assure me that mileage is not the most critical factor here. It is condition. I can’t remember what doesn’t work properly, like side bolsters , etc. But the car drives like it has 30,000 miles, not 117,000 or whatever. It drives straight as an arrow and the engine and transmission run perfectly. It truly is remarkable. In my opinion everything that needs to be working properly does. Seats are comfortable and the leather in this generation is second to none, even my S600s. I know he put new tires on it when he bought it, so they probably have around 6,000 miles on them. He had all four wheels professionally refinished. I bought the Cocomats which look fantastic in this car. I know any dents were removed paintlessly (if that’s a word), and before I decided to part with it I bought a second key to the tune of $550 from the dealer. Ouch. You can stream from your iPhone through the aftermarket head unit, phone and music. It had very dark tint on all windows which probably helped over the long term, but I couldn’t see! I had it removed except for the rear windshield. Rear sunscreen works. Air conditioning works flawlessly in Louisiana heat. I’ve had this thing about buying a 2004-2007 Jaguar XJR for some time, and this dealer found a very nice one in an unusual color, so I moved on. Possibly a mistake, but time will tell. This S55 is going to make someone very happy at an incredible value! Best of luck to all here!
Went and looked at this car in person and it looks great. I honestly would never believe the mileage or the age. Beautiful condition!

Thank you @RDM7533 for your comments. I purchased the S55 from the original owner out of California about a year and a half ago. When the car arrived in my shop in New Orleans we noted that the ABC was suffering from a faulty sensor; which we went ahead and replaced at that time. I ultimately sold this car to a repeat customer who has kept and enjoyed the car ever since. He recently traded the car back to us on a Jagaur XJR. The Mercedes has arrvied back to the shop in even better cosmetic condition as the owner treated the S55 to paint correction and ceramic coating this past summer! You are welcome to arrange a Pre Purchase Inspection with a shop close to us locally here in New Orleans; I will do my best to accomodate any appointment you scheduel. Feel free to reach out to me off line to make such arrangements. Thank you again and good luck with your bids!

Beautiful vehicle with desirable options. I can't tell what kind of service has been done in the last 50k miles from the Carfax. "Vehicle Serviced" can mean anything. Big ticket items that may need attention in the next few thousand miles are brakes, rotors, ABC system, spark plugs and/or coils...or not. My 2004 SL 55 with 60k just had valve body and engine computers replaced for $5000. Not to say this V8 and transmission need anything. Would you be able to provide the inspection ticket from the garage? That would add value to the bidding for some, including me. I went to Tulane and love New Orleans. Good luck and thank you.
I have seen this S55. Know the owner to be meticulous with his cars. This car is an excellently maintained example. The technology and luxury are a huge value for where they are trading.

@jcd214 Thanks for your kind words regarding the listing. The head unit does have Bluetooth and the stock command system was removed at some point and replacement has been installed. As far as service records go all I have is the Carfax history showing proper service at a Benz dealer. This vehicle has been in New Orleans for approximately a year and a half. I purchased this vehicle after thorough research by the local shop owner. As fas as ABC goes we have had no issues. Please message me and I will put you in touch with this particular shop owner regarding this. Many thanks!
Hello everyone. I want to personally welcome you to the auction of a very nice 2005 S55.:This vehicle has spent most of its life in California and was purchased by a very good friend and Mercedes enthusiast. I will do my best to answer any and all of your questions to the best of my knowledge. Thanks very much!
A well presented car, @seller. Do you have any professional assessment of the ABC system? The writeup says the Pioneer head unit has bluetooth capability, but that there is also COMAND navigation. Was some aspect of the OEM system preserved? Lastly, Is there anything -- ANYTHING -- that is not operative, eg. front seat bolsters, rear sunshade, rear seat heaters, etc?
Super clean, and right on the forefront of design and engineering during it's production. GLWA! Nice presentation!
