This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Gray Leather (278) and power is provided by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car underwent some light AMG tribute modifications including Penta wheels, slim European bumpers front and rear, glass European headlights, amber corner lights, H&R lowering springs, and an AMG badge on the rear deck lid. Recent services include new power steering hoses with new fluid, H&R spacers, exhaust hangers, idle speed control relay, NOS monovalve, polyurethane sway bar bushings, engine temperature sensor, transmission filter/fluid service, coolant flush with re-cored radiator, and much more. Features include a folding black soft top, a paint matched removable hardtop, fog lights, a period upgraded Blaupunkt head unit, electric windows, central locking, and automatic climate control. Now showing just under 51k miles, this R107 is now offered by the selling party out of Lilburn, Georgia with the owner's manual, tool kit, hardtop, hardtop keys, a Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) and includes a paint-matched removable hardtop along with a folding black soft top. Additional exterior features include fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accents along the bumpers, windows, and belt line of the car. This R107 comes with slim European front/rear bumpers and amber corner lights for the front along with glass European headlights. The body is free from any rust. Detailed photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery. The Carfax notes an accident in 1994 with an official frame inspection in 2016 noting that the accident was minor. There is some paintwork noted by the seller with paint meter readings viewable in the photos below.
The factory wheels have instead been replaced by real 16” AMG Pentas and are mounted with 205/55 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires with 2020 date codes all the way around. The car was factory-equipped with power steering, fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. H&R lowering springs have been installed. The five AMG Pentas were fully restored in 2020. Brake fluid measures in good health. Polyurethane sway bar bushings were installed when the suspension work was done in 2020 along with new eccentric bolts, 4 nub front spring pads to dial in the ride height, and new power steering hoses installed with a fluid flush using the correct MB fluid. The differential has also been flushed and refilled with Redline gear oil.
The interior is upholstered in Gray Leather (278) and shows matching carpets, door cards, and center console. Interior appointments include a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB head unit stereo, electric windows, central locking, and automatic climate control. Burl wood trim accents the center console and dash. The wood shows light fading, but no cracks in the veneer. The dashboard does exhibit splits and cracks. The exterior thermometer does not operate. Gray factory Mercedes-Benz branded floor mats are installed.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows just under 51k original miles.
The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed 722.3 automatic transmission. While the car spent some time up north, it shows very little underside corrosion. Detailed underside pictures are seen in the gallery below. The seller performed a transmission fluid/filter service including draining the torque converter in 2020 along with the good W9DC0 spark plugs. A new AGM battery was installed too. Coolant was flushed then the radiator was re-cored.
The Carfax lists one front end accident in 1994 with a frame inspection in 2016 showing it was a minor accident. Linear mileage hits are seen on the Carfax as well as yearly registration. Now showing just under 51k miles, this R107 is now offered with a paint matched hardtop, H&R lowering springs, real AMG Penta wheels, amber corner lights, European bumpers, a Carfax report, and a Georgia title.
The seller has included the following videos:
There are so many original, bone stock SL560s that hit the auction block and tucked away in people’s garages for sunny day cruises it’s hard to keep them straight. We at The MB Market are outliers – we all own modified R107s. And let us tell you: they WAKE UP when you breathe on them a little. North American R107s were soft, hefty, and quiet cruisers built for coastal drives by freshly retired wall street wolves. With Magnus Walker having popularized the “outlaw” counter culture in the Porsche world, we’re trying to start that with R107s. The ever famous Blue Ridge Mercedes-Benz was the one to dial this one in and was the backbone inspiration to our own builds. I mean look at it! The 199 Blue-Black paint is a hit with the amber corner lights and the expensive Euro bumpers shorten the car by about a foot and you lose some weight. Throw on some H&Rs and some incredibly rare (and expensive) AMG Pentas wrapped in sticky Michelins and you have an AMG tribute worthy of the boot badge.

In the interest of a most happy New Year we've decided to lift the reserve on this SL. Whoever places the final bid WILL BE BRINGING IT HOME! Thanks to all so far
Damn... a 'poster' car from my teenage years. Love this; thinking this will be RNM (at this moment) as the bidding should be much higher than this I would think. Wow! Good luck! Wish I had hit that lotto; this would be a fun toy to have!

@NYCdriver You should bid and find out ;) she's strong.
This must be an amazing cruiser compared to a stock example. Good to see all the BRMB additions!
Good morning and Happy New Year, thanks to all who have asked about this 560SL. I wanted to add a note about the stereo in this one. It was over $3k for the components and is truly built as an enthusiasts stereo. I've included the link below for reference. Just wanted to put in a good word towards the seller and this car. I did get to drive this one and Jono knows how to set up a R107 to dance. It’s flat through turns but is well damped over bumps and still comfortable. The car looks so good in person too. I didn’t want to get out of this one. Really cool car with some tasteful and very expensive upgrades.
How did you get the Penta's to fit over the 560SL brakes?
That full size spare penta in the trunk 🤤
