This 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300GD was originally ordered and sold for the Norwegian domestic market and was imported to the US by the seller in 2022. The G-Wagen is offered with 25k kilometers (~15k miles) TMU shown on the odometer and is located in Melbourne, Florida. The truck is finished in Carmine Red (3002) paint over Red & Black cloth seats and power is provided by a turbocharged OM617 Inline-5 diesel engine paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. Notable features include air conditioning, power steering, dual-speed four wheel drive, a dual-speed transfer case, manual-wind windows, front and rear locking differentials, and a rear bench seat. This 300GD is now offered by the importing seller with two keys and a clean Florida title.
The 300GD was refinished in factory Carmine Red (3002) under prior ownership and light scratches are noted on the front fenders adjacent to the hood. Factory bumpers are shown along with a spare tire carrier and original tow hitch. The roof is finished in Black paint and all glass remains intact. Detailed photos of the body and exterior trim are shown in the gallery below.
Original 16” steel wheels are shown finished in matte black paint with matching center caps. The wheels are wrapped in Cooper Discoverer S/T tires measuring 235/85 at all four corners. A matching spare tire and steel wheel is mounted on the original carrier at the rear.
The cabin displays Red & Black cloth seats with a checkered pattern featured. The dashboard, steering wheel, and center console are finished in black with matching shift boots on the gearshift and transfer case controls. New air conditioning has been added to the cabin with vents and controls mounted at the bottom of the dashboard. The headliner is trimmed in black along with the pillars, door cards, and grab handles. Detailed photos of the cabin are included in the gallery.
The original black steering wheel frames the gauge cluster featuring a 160kph speedometer and ancillary readouts for fuel and coolant temperatures. Indicator lights are shown for front and rear locking differentials along with fuel, high beam, oil, brake, and battery warning lights. Approximately 25k kilometers (~15k miles) are shown on the mechanical odometer which the seller states is currently inoperable, therefore, this G is being sold as TMU, true mileage unknown.
The 3.0L OM617 inline-5 diesel was factory rated at 87 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque when new with power sent to all four wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. A turbo upgrade has been installed for an estimated power increase to 120 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Recent services and maintenance includes a new air filter, new A/C compressor, comprehensive fluid flush and filter change along with new gaskets. Photos of the underside are included in the gallery below.
This 300GD is now offered by the importing seller with two keys, and a clean Florida title.
A walkaround video, driving video, cold start video and video showing the operation of the locking differentials is viewable below.

@acborges64 Please kindly review the "NEW TO THE MB MARKET? LEARN HOW IT WORKS!" section of the website if you are unfamiliar with the clock. Like virtually every major online automotive auction platform, our timer resets to 2:00 minutes if there is a bid within the final two minute window. This prevents "sniping" and allows for a fair and transparent final bid price by giving all serious bidders the opportunity to bid...even in the last few minutes. This is the standard practice in the industry, designed to ensure fairness/transparency, and is clearly disclosed in detail on our website. I'm sorry you were not aware of this beforehand, so I'll strongly encourage you to read through the information beginning with "NEW TO THE MB MARKET? LEARN HOW IT WORKS!" link in orange at the very top of our homepage. That should resolve all of your questions about the clock and more. Thank you.
@acborges64 bidding under two minutes resets the clock back to two minutes.
why did this auction continue past the published end time?

@Veritas911 don't have that info in front of me and won't be able to get you an answer prior to auction end. I can tell you it was done correctly. The shop that did it has done many of these conversions with no issues.

What’s the compression ratio on the turbo? I know the NAs are not easy to turbo if done correctly.

Thanks for the quick response, @mndmotorcars I had a feeling that the sun was doing the washing in the video. Incidentally, I think both shades of the red (pictures & video) look great. The vivid red is a real stunner.
@tedb The "real world" color is what it looks like in the images. We tried taking the videos in different light but because of the sun (and the phone camera) we couldn't get it to come out as crispy as the images. It's definitely not a washed out red. It's more vivid as depicted in the images.
I'm curious if the "real world" color is more: a) Candy apple red— as it appears in the pictures b) A somewhat washed out red—as it appears in the video I know color can be subjective and difficult to convey digitally. Though I'm curious to hear the owner's objective thoughts on the color.

@CarCrazy24 Correct!
What would the original seats be colored, black fabric guessing?

Underbody photos have been added to the gallery. Thank you.
@Qualules no worries!
I'm so lame I can't even figure out how to include a picture in a message to you to show you what I'm referring to. Sorry again.
@mndmotorcars I have to apologize. After doing an image search for THAT YEAR, I see there was no insert in that trim rail. Something still looks "off" though. It appears that not all, if any of the fastener holes have fasteners in them, which I know can't be the case. Most of the fastener holes appear to not be filled with a fastener head. The only way you could do that would be to chemically bond that rail to the body panels or weld them to the body, which I'm sure isn't the case. If you look at Picture #8, I believe, you see a silver fastener which looks out of place. I know... I'm being anal here. To ME, it just looks unfinished. And as well, I have an opinion, just like everyone does, and it's different than others or however the saying goes... ;) Nonetheless, it's a wonderful example of an '82 MB 300GD. I'm not trying to run your rig down or anything like that and I hope I haven't made such a big deal out of this that it detracts from the otherwise flawless example of your 300GD. I'd love to have it here in Big Sky Country... who knows? Q
@Qualules not exactly sure what "rubber/vinyl inserts" you are referring to. If you are talking about the rubber rail inserts that came on the W463's, they did not come on the w460. If you are referring to something else, please attach a picture. Thanks!
@willem @Roverchef Pics have been uploaded. Should be on site shortly.
Why aren't the rubber/vinyl inserts installed in the black horizontal "rub rails" that run both sides of the rig? You have the trim installed, but it's not a finished or a completed system. Doors that open onto the trim as you show, will dent the frame that the rubber/vinyl insert goes into and will render the trim piece inoperable from the standpoint of installing the rubber/vinyl protective rail.
@willem Pics will be uploaded today. There's nothing to hide.
@Roverchef -Turbo was added about 8 months ago. -Don't have any docs that state the mileage. If we had to guess maybe 125K km based on the condition but don't have anything to confirm this. -We've been driving it around town between 30-50mph but has plenty more left in it. Haven't gone on the highway yet but believe it will do just fine. I just don't think you'll be winning many races ;). -Pics will be upload today. Thanks!
Get those underside pictures yet? The ones listed are very unclear. Seems like there is a lot being hidden from buyers. Please add more detailed pictures. Seems very skeptical
When was the turbo added to the OM617NA? Any Idea what the actual mileage is? Comfortable driving speed? Underside pics of the drivetrain?
$20,000 bid placed by @Maxinteco
@Willem There are a few underside photos in the gallery. Will try to take requested pics tomorrow if weather permits. We source clean trucks, service and upgrade them. Fix what's needed and offer them for sale.
Any clear underside photos. Only pictures of exterior are shown. How do I know the floors are good or the inner rockers. Lift the carpets or something or put it on a lift. Also pictures of underside of engine. Why is it being sold just after import
@Roverchef Thanks!
Very clean example. GLWTA!!!
