This 2005 Maybach 62 was sold new at Benzel-Busch Motor Cars in New Jersey and was produced during the brand’s revival by parent company Mercedes-Benz in the early 2000s. It was titled to the original owner in Florida and has resided in the NY/Long Island metro area since new. The Maybach 62 and the smaller 57 were based on the contemporary Mercedes S-Class, though they existed as standalone models intended to compete with the Rolls Royce Phantom. This example is finished in two-toned Bright Gray Himalayas Metallic (770) against Mayarit Silver Metallic (766) over Gray (538) exclusive leather and shows only 11,750 miles from new. Power is provided by a twin-turbocharged M285 5.5L V12 paired with a five-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. Features include power reclining rear seats, rear entertainment system, fitted champagne flutes, a set of Maybach monogrammed cushions and umbrellas, extensive burl wood trim, and much more. This Maybach is now being offered behalf of the selling dealer with factory literature, two key fobs, a clean Carfax, and a clean New York title.
The exterior is finished in two-toned Bright Gray Himalayas Metallic (770) against Mayarit Silver Metallic (766), which is contrasted by silver alloy wheels and chrome trim on the beltline and window surrounds. The paint on this accident and damage-free Maybach is believed to be all original and no significant imperfections are present with the exception of a few rock chips on the front bumper.
The 19″ wheels are fitted with Continental Premium Contact DWS tires, and the front brakes feature two calipers per rotor to help cope with the 3-ton curb weight. The Maybach 62 featured an extended, 150″ wheelbase which is 28.5″ longer than the period long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class (W220); extending its overall length is 242.5,” or just over 20 feet.
The cabin is trimmed in Gray (538) exclusive leather with burlwood veneers on the dash, center tunnel, and doors. Additional wood trim is present in the Maybach when compared to the S-Class, including large burlwood inserts on the doors, mirror blanks, and control panel for the overhead lighting. COMAND navigation and infotainment is shared with other Mercedes-Benz models.
The long wheelbase affords 57.2″ of legroom to rear seat passengers, who are also provided with a reclining power adjustable seat, powered curtains for each rear window, seatback-mounted rear infotainment screens, and a set of polished champagne flutes which mount in dedicated holders. An analogue clock, thermometer, speedometer, vanity mirrors and lighting controls are mounted in the headliner for rear seat passengers. All interior functions and accessories operate as intended when new.
The twin-turbocharged 5.5L M285 V12 was factory rated at 543 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. The vehicle has been consistently serviced at Rallye Motors of Long Island and 14 service history records are present on the Carfax report.
The Carfax shows no damage or accidents, registration history in Florida and New York across three owners, consistent dealer service history, and linear mileage updates since new

@mercedesmike Not sure it's all about weight here. I believe details like mounting points, seams, weld points, and other engineering details probably played a role in picking which chassis to modify for the Maybach cars. While I'm by no means an engineer and Mercedes isn't known for sharing every secret and raison d'etre for their methods, The chassis code alone (240) I think is a strong indication of a modified 140 chassis or 2nd generation of the 140. Without meaning to hijack the sellers auction, this is a BEAUTIFUL example and strikingly good looking in the two-tone silvers.
@Autocrat - Market Insights looks to be gleaned from the Maybach Wiki, which doesn't provide a reference for that information. Its something that's been thrown around since these were new, but I've yet to see anything definitive, and the more I learn about them, the less likely it seems to be based on fact rather than speculation. The idea that the W220 wasn't heavy duty enough is ridiculous - armored Pullman W220's weigh nearly a ton more than a 62. Just curious if a primary source exists.
@mercedesmike The "MB Market Insights" section above the gallery talks about why the 140 platform was used instead of the 220. Take a look there...
Can anyone provide a reference regarding the Maybach being built on the W140 platform? It’s something that gets thrown around a lot when discussing these cars but I find to be odd given how much crossover there is in terms of mechanical suspension and interior components with the W220.
It's impossible not to love the 62...Awesome, understated spec here. The next owner will be lucky.
WOW- Surprised at how much I LOVE the silver!
@Rizzo Thanks. Sure - send me a direct message and we can try to set something up.
The face that these were built on the W140 platform should tell you all you need to know! Premium quality!

Hi, where on Long Island is the vehicle and can I come see it?
