Bid for your chance own this 1996 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG on The MB Market. Finished in Imperial Red (582) over a Black/Anthracite (201)interior, power comes from a 3.6-liter M104 I6 paired to a five-speed dogleg manual transmission.
Thanks to all the bidders!
@charliegerHead gasket was replaced at 138,861 miles. I do not have any documentation on the wiring harness.
@benzerI have only the receipts for the parts installed.
@J4177The swap was completed November 3rd 2019, the car had 163,xxx miles on the odometer at the time of completion, the trans is from a euro spec 300ce-24 m104 980 engine, 717.450 getrag dogleg. The same trans used in the r129 SL300 in the US. There are other transmissions that will work but wanted to be sure I sourced a trans that I would not have to replace because of weakness. The flywheel is dual mass, both the trans and the flywheel were sourced from rennsport factory in the UK. Shifter bushings, both pilot and release bearings are new so there is no slop in the shifter, transmission fluid was also replaced at the time of the swap. Unfortunate I was unable to source the oem dogleg shift knob and boot which is rare so the shift pattern on the knob does not indicate it’s a dogleg. The driveshaft had to be lengthen and the car was down for about a year because I wanted the swap done right. The swap was not done by me but by a friend of mine that’s a well accomplished tech and has worked on all of my cars.
Unfortunately the car was purchased with the dent in the hood. I have not attempted to fix it.
@mji1984@mji1984 It is so much more enjoyable. My biggest concern was swapping the wrong transmission. I initially purchased slk 717.460 trans only to find out the M104 has too much torque. Doglegs aren’t readily available in the US so had to source the transmission from the UK.
@benzer@benzer No accidents recorded on the car. The paint is in good condition and absolutely no rust. The car has spent all of its life in the wormer parts of the U.S.
@Jeb105The trans is from a 300CE, 717.450. This transmission was also available in the R129 300SL. 1 of 2 gtrag transmissions available from Mercedes at the time.
