This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E 3.4 AMG was ordered in Germany and received modifications from then-independent tuning house AMG including a complete body kit, wheels, suspension, gauge cluster, exhaust and 3.4L engine modifications. Finished in Black (040) over Black Leather (271), power is provided by a bored and stroked 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Recent service in preparation for the sale includes all fresh fluids, filters, and new spark plugs. Factory equipment includes headlamp wiper/washers, a power tilt/slide sunroof, heated sport seats, automatic climate control and a Becker radio. Now showing 145k kilometers (~90k miles) from new, this 300E 3.4 AMG is offered for sale by the selling dealer with records confirming the build from Mercedes AMG and a clean German title.
The car received AMG bodywork shared with the 6.0 Hammer which includes a sculpted front air dam, side skirts, rear bumper and a three-piece trunk spoiler. The body kit shows original AMG stamps with pictures in the gallery. The bodywork is finished in Black (040) with a paint-matched grille and side molding. Exterior equipment includes headlamp wiper/washers, front fog lights, a power-adjustable passenger door mirror, a power tilt/slide sunroof, an automatic antenna, central locking and a dual-exit AMG exhaust. The paint is believed to be original with paint meter readings viewable in the gallery. No signs of rust or damage are present on the body.
The paint-matched 17” three-piece AMG Aero III wheels by OZ Racing come fitted with a set of Sportiva Performance tires which measure 235/45 on all four corners and show 2016 date codes. A spare tire is fitted in the trunk along with the factory tool kit and jack. ASR slip control and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are fitted as standard. The original AMG full exhaust is pictured with correct stamps under the car.
The front and rear sport seats are trimmed in Black Leather (271) while polished Burl Walnut wood trim adorns the center console, gear selector, dashboard, steering wheel and door panels. Optional sport seats are fitted with the front seats being heated and power adjustable. Interior appointments include AMG door sills, automatic climate control, cruise control, retractable rear headrests and a Becker Europa 2000 radio.
The 390mm wood/leather sport steering wheel fronts an AMG-specific gauge cluster with a central 280-km/h speedometer along with an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 145k km from new, approximately 90k miles.
The 3.0-liter M104 inline-six was bored and stroked to 3.4 liters by AMG in Germany and fitted with custom AMG camshafts which help the engine produce 268 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent service in preparation for the sale includes all fresh fluids, filters, and new spark plugs. AMG stickers denoting the engine modifications are found on the valve cover and radiator support. Underbody photos provided by the seller show no signs of leaks or corrosion.
The car comes with partial service records including a letter from Mercedes AMG confirming the car was built in December 1991 with the full AMG 3.4 outfit. Originally ordered from the Hamburg branch in Germany, the datacard is marked with the 990 option code indicating its intended AMG modification from new. The car has since remained in Germany and is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean German title.
With 6.0-liter pre-merger cars hitting all time highs, more attention has been turned towards other AMG models as enthusiasts look for more accessible avenues of enjoying the greatest hits of the tuner brand. This unique W124 3.4 example comes complete with all the most desirable equipment including the paint-matched multi-piece Aero III wheels and the complete AMG body kit including bumpers, side skirts and iconic three-piece spoiler. While not packing the same punch as the DOHC 6.0, the bored and stroked 3.4-liter M104 delivers an impressive 268 horsepower in a time when other straight sixes struggled to break 200. Not to mention a 6.0L Hammer will run you well into the six figures and even breaking one million dollars for the right spec. Most notably, this AMG comes with paperwork from Mercedes AMG confirming the car was built in December 1991 and equipped with the 3.4 engine upgrade, cat and exhaust system, body kit, suspension, Aero III wheels, and gauge cluster. The 990 option code on the datacard is also an enormous value add for future collectibility. With the addition of the sport bucket seats and steering wheel, this well-rounded pre-merger AMG is sure to be the highlight of any enthusiast’s collection and should prove to be a smart buy which stands the test of time as values rise.

@wavydave Shocks are replaced for Bilstein. Springs are still original AMG. Unfortunately we dont have the AMG shocks, they were replaced by the previous owner. The shocks and springs are in very good condition.
@wavydave @mercedesml the shocks looks like aftermarket Bilstein. Assume the springs are aftermarket, too. Are OEM suspension parts included in the sale?
@mercedesml can you remark on the condition of the suspension? Is it AMG? Would you be able to post more pictures of any branding present?

@TCE63Wagon im sorry dont know exactly, but for sure not much more. Thanks
@Mercedesml Any idea on cost to an East coast port? Thanks
@TCE63Wagon yes exactly
@Mercedesml 2200 euro from Germany to port of Los Angeles?
@TCE63Wagon last one in december was 2.200€ to LA
Estimate of shipping costs to an East coast port in the United States? Thanks
@Majdaqel93 HIGHLY doubt this is where this car sells. Remember current bid doesn't dictate value. I'm excited to watch this one.
I’m a bit confused to say the least, how is this car, a real pre-merger AMG worth considerably less than that 560SEC tribute car that’s on this auction as well… makes no sense. This should be a 6 figure car.

@mercedesml is there AMG branding present on the suspension components?
@DW168 “Originally ordered from the Hamburg branch in Germany, the datacard is marked with the 990 option code indicating its intended AMG modification from new.” It’s a way to know that this is a genuine pre-merger AMG vs a regular 300e with aftermarket mods
