The car is finished in Polar White (147) with light gray lower body cladding and features painted mirror caps, a vented front passenger fender, hood ornament, factory roof rails, and a rear window wiper. The paint presents in excellent condition all around and the seller notes the hood and tailgate show slightly higher paint meter readings but appear uniform in color and finish with the rest of the car. The power antenna reportedly does not retract. Factory Euro spec lights are present along with euro clear corner lights and front plate bracket.
A walkaround, engine tour, underbody and driving videos of the vehicle are viewable below.

I would rather see this go to another private collector, it would be a shame if a dealer wins this auction.

@elie7elie I do believe the AC was converted but unfortunately I will not be able to verify it because I have left the office and am not with the car. AC systems in general were not as effective on older cars as they are today but this one, from what I remember felt pretty good
Hello, thank you for the replies on the harness. Is this an R12 AC? if no, was it converted properly? I currently have a 2007 E350 and on hot days it Texas, for example a few days ago at 100 I had to have the AC on almost the highest setting to keep it cool. So now I am wondering, even though you stated the AC does not need to be charged, does this car from the 90s have an A/C that works in hot summer days either in Florida or Texas? I am actually in Florida today and it's hot! Can it cool good?

With a day left till the end of this auction, I would like to say a few words about this car. Having imported several cars from Europe, including a few W124, I must say this is perhaps one of the nicest and most original ones we’ve had. We purchased this Mercedes from a Benz mechanic/enthusiast who usually buys these cars from private owners, and resells them after correcting whatever the car may need. This car had been garage stored and not driven much in the last 3 years. As a result, some rubber parts such as driveshaft flex discs and the support bearing had to be replaced due to dry rotting. All tires, although with deep tread, also have some dry rotting and need replacement. We purposely left them on the car thinking the new owner can buy a set of his choice rather than have the car with cheaper brand tires that we would most likely install. One of the unique things about this one is that we rarely see one of these cars where everything works as designed, especially the pneumatic system powering the door locks and lumbar support for the seats. We also didn’t even have to charge the A/C system, which is rare. It was cold from the time we got it. Some of you who know these cars, know that this is not a speed demon. It has, however, adequate power and acceleration for comfortable around town driving with great MPG. Please, view all photos and videos and email me with any inquiries. Good luck.

@elie7elie The factory harness was made of "organic" bio-degradable material and would have a high chance of failure. Replacing the harness is very doable, even at home with hand tools, but an extra pain. While good to know whether the harness was replaced, IMO it's in no way a deal breaker for owning a 124 but will factor into the price. Edit: brand new harness typically runs between $800 and $1200 but you can also buy a used one for about $200. Depending on how handy you are, takes between 1-4 hours to replace at home. Need a screw driver, a 10mm socket and a 5mm hex driver. It will cost you like 3-4k at a dealer. seller can check the model number and year harness was manufactured if the sticker hasn't fallen off. typically they're by the battery
@elie7elie it's really not a huge issue. Apparently many Mercedes, cars from early 90s had engine harness issues (although we have never seen one that would) so some people will always ask about it. I agree an updated harness is a plus on one of these cars but I am also sure there are thousands of these cars with original harness and without any problems. In addition, from what I understand, the harness issues are more apparent on the cars with V8 engines.
Why is the wiring harness such an issue?
@k_brady No I don't. We have no records of that. On a side note, it's always good to read previous comments ;-)
G'morning. Do you know if the wiring harness has ever been replaced? Thanks!
The triple crown Wagon Manual Diesel You win
Super cool! I wish I could bid, I’ve been hoping my next w124 or w126 doesn’t have leather lol. And this is an awesome combo. Best of luck with sale!
A video of the underbody has been added to the listing.
Here is the on lift video https://youtu.be/l6ejgfRsKPc
@CarCrazy24 the car does not have 3rd row seating. AC and heat both work fine as well as all power options including door locks and even pneumatic lumbar support for the driver's seat. As far as CA registration, this is something you may want to research yourself. From what I understand, the car can be registered in CA, but the process is more involving and costly than in other states. I have the undercarriege video. Let me see if MB Market can post it.
Questions: 1. Does it have a third row? 2. AC and heater both working? 3. All power locks/windows working? 4. Could this be titled in California (others here might be able to answer this) 5. Any undercarriage pics while it’s on a lift?

As a German-market example with this mileage there's a good chance the harness would have been replaced by now. Wouldn't worry me too much as it's not actively showing issues.

@Jtwoods4 I am not sure why you would automatically assume that. First of all, the harness may have been done. We just don't have any records of it. Second, even if it was never done, it doesn't mean it needs it.
@UI_Classics okay thank you for getting back to me so it looks like it's going to need an engine upper and lower wiring harness.
@Jtwoods4 I have no records for the harness replacement and yes, the hatch stays up by itself
Do you have any records with the car showing that the wiring harness in the engine compartment has been replaced? Also does the rear hatch stay up or do the hatch struts need to be replaced? Very cool car.
