This 1994 Mercedes-Benz E500 Limited was originally ordered via the Leipzig branch in Germany of Mercedes-Benz in September 1994. This European-market example reportedly resided in Germany prior to its importation into the United States in November 2021. The car is one of 951 Limited models produced throughout all model years and is finished in Sapphire Black (009) over special two-tone Gray and Black (288) leather. Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory function, a cassette stereo, and factory 17″ Evo wheels. This E500 Limited shows only 16k kilometers (~10k miles) and is being sold as True Mileage Unknown. The car is now offered by the seller in Arizona, USA with manufacturer’s literature, original tool roll, a clean CarVertical report and a clean Arizona title.
The E500 was designed and built in collaboration with Porsche, and features widened front and rear fenders with unique bumpers. This example is finished in Sapphire Black (009) paint which was offered exclusively on Limited models. Additional features include Euro-spec clear turn signal lenses and side marker lamps, lower fog lights, a power antenna, and a power tilting and sliding steel sunroof.
The 17″ Evo wheels were equipped from the factory for Limited models and are wrapped in 235/45 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires showing 2014 date codes. The E500 featured a wider track and a lower stance compared to other W124 models, while the front disc brakes were shared with the contemporary R129 SL600.
The car is trimmed in Black leather with Gray-patterned inserts on the factory Recaro seats and door panels which is a unique combination for Limited specs. Amenities include heated and power-adjustable front sport seats with memory function and perforated bolster inserts, Birdseye maple wood trim, cruise control, automatic climate control, dual front airbags, a factory cassette stereo, and individual rear recaro seats.
A two-toned leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 260-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline and an inset clock. Additional gauges include coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure, along with an LCD external thermometer. The six-digit odometer shows only 16k kilometers (~10k miles) and is believed to be original based on the CarVertical report and condition of the car, however, the car is still being listed as true mileage unknown.
The 5.0-liter M119 V8 features dual overhead camshafts and produced 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

Regardless of whether the car was restored or not, it's still in outstanding condition. To bring another E500 up to this level would be no easy feat and the fact this is a Limited makes it that much more impressive. Gorgeous car and GLWA!!
True mileage is unknown for sure. It was the reason to lower it and to make car looks younger. The wood is restored wrong way. Is it okay for 70k$ car? Why is is brown, not green? Why are holes for switches rounded? There should be edges. I think the upholstery was renewed too. There's no close photo of seats edging to see whether it's leather or plastic texture edging.. And where are E500 headlights? There are newly produced AL lights (former Bosch factory). One wood part is covered at the rear roll box. Fixture was removed and galvanised (yellow zinc). But many of these parts were covered with black zinc by the factory. You can check it easily ordering them new now. So, nice try to make everybody think it's low mileage car. But it's not. ___ Read the topic at 500Eboard. Lol. But nice try.

@6thinline9 Yeah, that's already been posted in the comments below, Deputy....
All potential bidders should read this entire thread: https://www.500eboard.co/forums/threads/1994-e500-limited-sapphire-black-gray-16kkm-tmu-mbm-auction-scottsdale-az.18025/#post-259559
Photos of the battery tray and under the battery tray have been added to the gallery.
@thembmarket love the scan this code sticker on the car. Clever idea to get my money even faster.

@antiquarian - No worries and thanks for being transparent. Mileage/VIN Label in Door Jamb/history aside, I think the underside looks great and all that yellow/gold on the underside fasteners and hard pipes makes me green with envy. One thing you may wish to showcase is the condition of the battery area in the trunk BELOW the metal battery tray. These cars suffer corrosion here, but spectacular examples are super clean here. Anyways the car from the underneath as it stands looks really really nice. Super nice. Good luck.
There is no question that this was a decent restoration with some care taken. The TMU ist unfortunate.
@KingKitty I agree with you 100% but if you read my comment, I didn't say anything about values. Of course, not original car with unknown mileage is worth less than all original one. Despite the discrepancies, I think the car looks great and lots of effort was spent to make it look like this. That's all I was trying to say. As far as the mechanicals, if I were buying this car to drive it, I personally would prefer it with with 160k km rather than 16k (unless I owned a museum) and if you know old cars, you probably know what I mean.
@UI_Classics True, but much of the value is in the low mileage. If there is a discrepancy in the mileage, this is quite a substantial one, and despite the "restoration" having been done there are many areas where you have no insight into whatsoever that are not only critical but a major part of the car, e.g., engine, transmission, etc. If the engine and drive train have 160k kilometers on them, well, that's got to affect the value significantly as well. And not to pick nits, but fasteners were not galvanized, they were zinc plated typically. This is a textbook example of how important it is to employ trusted resources for pre-purchase inspections. Or just have the folks on the 500eboard go over it!

One thing is for sure. Regardless of the extend of the restoration and the fact that the odometer cluster may have been replaced, this car looks amazing and whoever carried out the restoration did an outstanding job. It looks as all suspension components were either replaced or restored, even nuts and bolts were galvanized. Under the hood, all tanks are new among other plastic parts. The car shows great attention to details, which is a good sign that the entire restoration was done properly. As far as the odometer reading, most likely it is not correct but these odometer mechanisms fail so often, it’s probably hard to find one that shows true reading anyways.
A listing of anomalies has been created for this car and published: https://www.500eboard.co/forums/threads/1994-e500-limited-sapphire-black-gray-16kkm-tmu-mbm-auction-scottsdale-az.18025/post-259559
This listing is being listed as True Mileage Unknown and appears to have been previously restored in some capacity. Updates to the listing have been made.
@Leaping_Cat I was not aware of this at all and appreciate you pointing out this information. I originally purchased the car based on the condition it was presented to me in and it certainly could’ve have been previously restored. While the car is in great condition I want to be as transparent about the car as I can and will update if I uncover any other information as I research. I have notified MB Market to update listing as TMU for transparency in either case. MB Market will have the car at Legends tomorrow in Monterey if anyone would like to inspect it in person.
I am sorry to point this out, seller, if you were not previously aware of this -- there is there a typographical error on the door jamb sticker in photo 94? All the US stickers say "IN EFFECT", not "IN AFFECT" See picture 315 of this auction: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-mercedes-benz-e500-29/ Also, note that the GVWR numbers in this sticker are very confusing. US market cars have a GVWR of 4695 lbs. This sticker shows 4960 lbs, which is 265 lbs than normal. Again, sorry to point this out if you were not aware of this before.
Just FYI, although the correct E500 Euro lights are NLA worldwide, there are a pair of correct NOS / NIB headlights for sale on eBay right now. No affiliation, the seller is located in GA: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255651229054
The condition of the car currently is how I received the car upon importation with the exception of the headlights as noted before. Please bid accordingly based on the information presented. The car is 28 years old but does appear to be in remarkable condition. The car will be on display at Legends of the Autobahn tomorrow at Pebble for anyone who would like to inspect the car in person. Thanks
VIN tags as shown are for U.S. spec cars only, and reproductions are readily available for purchase. If this car was originally sold in the EU, it wouldn't have a VIN tag such as the one on a U.S. car. Provenance for the vehicle prior to the November 2021 title in AZ would be a requirement if I was considering this car for purchase.
@KingKitty it looks like a fully restored car for sure. Lots of new underbody parts but also under the hood (reservoirs, etc)
E500 specific headlights and lenses are NLA, Euro and US spec.
There is a prior listing of a similar car online that states it has this VIN, however, that car is clearly a different vehicle all together. There is no VIN tag in the door on the other car and the seat designs lay differently. Please be advised, this is not that car. I bought this car from a private seller and it was never publicly advertised. Mileage is believed to be fully accurate and detailed photos of the car have been provided to support the condition and underbody photos are now added. I will try to source the correct headlights from the dealer as the ones they supplied are non 500 spec. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Duplicate comment, sorry.
This car appears to have been restored in the Netherlands prior to shipment to the US based on the following information at the 500E board: https://www.500eboard.co/forums/threads/1994-e500-limited-sapphire-black-gray-16kkm-tmu-mbm-auction-scottsdale-az.18025/ There appears to be a substantial discrepancy in the mileage as a result, too.
Underside photos have been added to the gallery.
@gsxr One of the lenses had a chip so I ordered new lenses from the dealer which are what’s installed now. I’ve sent underbody photos to MB Market and should be uploaded soon. Thanks
Are the original E500 headlights available? Any undercarriage photos?
