This 2006 Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Charcoal Nappa Leather (281), and power comes from a hand-built and supercharged 5.4-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. This W220 was sold new at Mercedes-Benz of Anaheim in June of 2005 remaining in California until 2008 when it relocated to the Metro Atlanta area where it has been since. Equipment includes AMG-optimized Active Body Control suspension, AMG body styling, heated and ventilated multicontour front seats, bi-Xenon headlights, Keyless-Go, Parktronic, rear roller blind, and rear door sun blinds. The Carfax shows minor damage to the rear in 2007 along with 74 service history records, and the most recent service consists of a rebuilt transmission, rear main seal, ABC pump, all ABC accumulators, ABC flush, four new Arnott shocks, rear right ABC shock hose which requires the rear subframe to be removed, engine and transmission mounts, front and rear flex discs, front lower control arms, front radius arms with ball joints, along with a separate brake service 10k miles ago. Now with just under 184k miles, this S55 AMG is now offered for sale by the private seller in Alpharetta, Georgia with two keys, recent service records, spare wheel, a Carfax report and a clean Georgia title.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) and features AMG body work including a sculpted front air dam, side skirts, and rear bumper along with chromed quad exhaust pipes at the rear. Bi-Xenon headlights are mounted up front with an integrated headlight washer system. Features include a power operated sliding glass sunroof, power folding mirrors, power operated trunk and Parktronic parking sensors. The seller notes scrapes along the bottom and chips on the front bumper, minor scratches from normal wear, and a scratch on the front driver quarter panel near the Kompressor badge. The soft door function does not operate on the driver side shown in the video. The Carfax report shows minor damage at the rear in 2007.
Fitted are the factory 18” twin five-spoke alloy AMG wheels which show as largely original with some faded paint. The wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 245/45 front and 275/35 rear showing 2010 date codes. The sidewall exhibits dry rot. Silver AMG-branded 8-piston calipers are mounted up front with 4-piston calipers at the rear. A new silver center cap was added on the front driver wheel post photoshoot. A brake service including front brake pads and rotors were done at 175k miles in 2018 along with new differential fluid. This W220 has seen a lot of suspension and drivetrain services under the current ownership including rebuilt transmission, ABC pump, all ABC accumulators, ABC flush, four new Arnott shocks, rear right ABC shock hose which requires the rear subframe to be removed, front and rear flex discs, front lower control arms, and front radius arms with ball joints.
The cabin is finished in Charcoal Nappa Leather (281) along with Burl Walnut wood trim which accents the center console, door panels and dash. The power operated front seats feature heating and ventilation as well as multicontour massage functions for both passenger and driver. Three memory positions are included with the driver’s settings being linked to the power side mirrors and steering wheel position. Additional equipment includes Keyless-Go, Bose audio, COMAND with navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power operated rear sun blind, a garage door opener and AMG logo door sills. The seller notes wrinkles from normal wear on the seats. Some UV damage is seen on the wood turning it blonde in color. The driver side rear view mirror shows signs of LCD failure. Rare AMG floormats adorn the front and rear footwell compartments. The COMAND unit has some discoloration shown in the gallery.
The AMG sport steering wheel frames the gauge cluster which holds a 200-mph speedometer along with a tachometer, fuel level indicator and coolant temperature gauge. The center digital display shows the odometer which currently reads just under 184k miles and sits alongside the digital outside thermometer and digital clock. The steering wheel shows some wear along the top.
The supercharged 5.4-liter M113K V8 is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels and is factory rated at 493 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. An oil and filter change was recently performed in preparation for the sale along with a rear main seal when the rebuilt transmission was installed along with transmission and engine mounts. Spark plugs were done 10k miles ago in 2018. The Carfax report shows 74 service documents from new. Detailed undersides are available in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates, regular oil changes, one minor at the rear in 2007, and 74 service history records since new. This AMG sedan is now offered for sale by the seller with a spare tire, invoices for the recent services, two keys and a clean Georgia title.
The seller has provided a POV driving and walk around video viewable below.
The M113K feels like the perfect motor for the W220 chassis. The interior swaddles the pilot in fine grain nappa leather and opening up the taps at any speed feels like being launched off an aircraft carrier in a F-18. The 5.4-liter M113 in naturally aspirated form was potent. But BMW came out with the S62 V8 in the E39 M5 which had 50 more horsepower than the then top of the line V8 engine produced from the Stuttgart boys. This did not sit well with the top brass at AMG, so what did they do? Slap a supercharger on top of their V8 to make an engine that was punching out damn near 150-HP more than the outgoing model. So began the horsepower wars fought between Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi in the mid 2000s. This S55 AMG has that legendary engine. This is one of the ultimate Autobahn missiles and this example sports stealthy silver paint (which looks amazing on these AMG body kit cars) and has all of the scary ABC suspension weak spots ironed out. With the recent services performed by the owner, who is a long time Mercedes-Benz specialist, make this the ultimate car for a cross country blast or ideal for long commutes to and from work in utter peace and quiet with the ability to pull car lengths most sports cars in a race.

@BlakeM Congrats! You bought an entire 500 horsepower S-Class for the price of 19” W140 wheels.
No kidding. That thing was checking for last bids while it came in.
Still a great buy given all the service and history. I just have more than I should already! Enjoy!

@VIGIL Yup, pretty sure the owner of this S55 has performed a ton of work on that car. Dude knows how to turn a wrench.
Blue Ridge MB has the only AMG Hammer Wagon in the world, right? This is quite possibly the most car for the money on the site right now. I think these things were like $120K new.

Hey everyone, I feel it is worth mentioning the owner of this car was shop foreman at Blue Ridge MB for 10 years and is now working for DC Motorwerks in Alpharetta. An ABC M113K S55 AMG is a cakewalk when he's used to working on seven figure Westmont AMG Hammers and 300SEL 6.3s when on the job. Incredibly talented technician, overall good human being, and he's selling a well serviced W220.
@Stuttgart_Steel That's what I'm seeing too. It's actually pretty rare to see a stock one these days.
@NYCdriver So many of these M113K cars get modified to hell and back by people who don't know what they're doing and end up ruining them. They have such a high attrition rate on the used market, sadly.
@Likemall They were replaced 2 years ago.
I LOVE seeing one of these with this mileage that hasn't been modified out. I bet this is an absolute joy in this price range. Good luck @seller and congrats to whoever buys this.
Are these they older Arnotts or newer ones?
$5,255 bid placed by @Hoover4
@Axle The buyer will get invoices for the services done to the car, I can promise that. The owner did all the work himself after hours, so he is going to get them drafted up and printed off through the shop's system. The shop has been really busy and didn't hit the deadline to send them to me. He walked me through all the work done when we had the car on the lift to take underside pictures. I had pen and paper to write it all down to provide to The MB Market for their copy as the showed me around the car and pointed to all of the new components. They probably won't be uploaded by the time the auction ends, but if the car sells, the winner will absolutely get those records. I'm sure the retail number for the Arnotts is a lot, especially the labor to replace that line that snakes through the subframe in the rear.
Are there receipts or records for the services? I don't see anything in the gallery. I'm curious what the ABC overhaul ended up costing with the Arnott units. Thanks
@Kfossum Sorry, just emailed you! I'm getting a lot of PMs and yours got buried.
@Stuttgart_Steel would you mind answering my PM please?
Thanks for the bids so far and thank you for the PMs I've been getting! I love chatting with everyone so far.

As we go into the final hours, I’ll be here for any questions. Again, I’m open for phone calls if needed. The M113K is a powerhouse of an engine with both durability and reliability. The engine itself is probably worth $4k not including the newly rebuilt 722.6 transmission. This car has a lot going for it and is a fantastic driving car with its recent services. I’ve owned a W220 before and it remains one of my favorite cars. I haven’t owned anything as quiet as it since. This is both luxurious with AMAZING seats and with the speed limiter removed, it’s a damn near 200 MPH rocket.

@ClassicAutoSMTH All of my personal AMGs have a lot of miles on them. It forces you to maintain them which has the reaction of making them drive well. I'm a huge fan of higher milage, well maintained cars. They're what I'm currently obsessed with. Thanks for the comment.

There's something to love about a high mileage AMG from this era, commitment and passion rampant!
@suprematis Morning! It does not have it. You’d see the follow distance button on the shifter bezel and it would have the stalk for it.
Does this model come equipped with DISTRONIC?
As for the tires, the owner has a much newer and better set available to put on the car. If someone wins it and want their own tires installed on the car, you can always ship them to us and we can mount and balance them for free. Everyone has a specific tire choice, so don't want to put Continentals on if the buyer is a Michelin fan. Whichever works for the winner.

All this maintenance and 15 year old tires?
$1,500 bid placed by @milacaboy
@Kfossum It does not. All of these cars from this era tend to have leaky bladders. MB never engineered them really well to last.
Does the pulse function on the driver’s seat work?
@Static50 You’re one of us then if you are forgetting about cars. A fifth one wouldn’t hurt ;)
I forgot about the other one I owned. It’s been four!🤦🏻
@Static50 The M113K paired with the .6 will do all the miles. They’re good for it. Thanks for the bid!
$250 bid placed by @Static50
I’ve owned three of these but none with mileage nearly this high. I don’t need another one but who knows. GLWA!
Hey everyone! This is a cool one I have live. This is my friend's S55 AMG who is a seasoned Mercedes-Benz technician who bought this car for daily driving duties and is now trying to reduced his rather large collection. The services he did under his ownership are really key in getting these cars to drive well and last. He's gathering the service records and will be sending them to me sometime soon, so keep an eye out for when I upload them. Please look at the Carfax as well. The previous owners took good care of this car as well. Since it has 184k miles on it, you had to maintain it to get to those miles. It drives really well. Please watch my driving video as well. The M113K is one of my favorite engines MB ever built. I'll be around to answer any questions! I'm available for phone calls and am open to show the car in person. Thanks everyone! @CICBarkeep Thanks for the comment! Bad W220s are dreadful to drive. When they're well maintained, they are transformative.
The list of recent service nearly mirrors what I've recently had done on the now 147k mile '05 I purchased here a couple years ago. The car came to me in very good nick, but I went all in this spring, and it absolutely transformed the car. They'll never be new again, but I have a pretty good feeling of what it must have been like. Kudos to the seller and best of luck!
