The W123 300 Turbodiesel is famed for its reliability known for going many hundreds of thousands of miles often outlasting its chassis. This example had the extreme fortune of spending its entire life in Santa Barbara whose climate excellently preserved the chassis, paint and interior. Without the odometer, many wouldn’t believe this car has ticked over 200k. Extensive service records only add to the car which should prove to prove superbly reliable for its lucky next owner. These engines have become notorious for being able to go 1 million miles with standard maintenance and this one is still young at heart. Photos of the wheel wells and rocker panels prove its condition further and while not one of the lowest mileage examples, this sure could be one of the cleanest! With the value of these diesel wagons climbing, this car looks to be a phenomenal opportunity to own a true gem of Mercedes-Benz history.

@Rahtok, the car was not cryo cleaned. Where the car has resided it really does not rain much, no salt on the roads. etc. and the weather is around 70 all year long. Yes, certain components were replaced, brake disc, rebuilt calipers, the car has been garaged and maintained in an ideal environment. Thank you for your interest.
Incredibly clean for 200k+ miles! Front sway bar doesn't show a lick of rust - has it been replaced or repainted? Nor do any of the suspension components really, but I see there's mention of replacing a lot of them. Would love to know how long ago car was detailed underneath and in the engine bay and how it was done. Cryo cleaned? The presentation is really quite good.

I see that you have the cargo cover. Is it in good condition?
The tailgate has clips for the cargo cover and it’s on the window sticker. Do you happen to have that? I just found it mentioned in the description.
@ferrari1971 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_California
@dcraigk , you may be correct, this is where I got my info from. https://www.lamag.com/driver/the-colorful-history-of-california-license-plates/
@ferrari1971 From 1980 to 1986 the standard plate was blue with gold letters in the format 1ABC123. The sun plate was extra cost. Up until 1980 it was 123ABC.
Awesome wagon. Excited for the chance to bid! Whoever last detailed this car deserves a medal and a beer. Would you mind posting a video of the old blow-by test?

@glowingMB , Im not sure , but if there was an issue I'm sure my mechanic would let me know. He lets me know about everything else on my cars.
@dcraigk , The only way to have a blue plate is if you took it from a 1981 car or older and transferred it. The plate with the sun looks period correct. But I have older cars with the blue plate and they look great as well.
How is the SLS? In the photos the rear appears to sit low and I'm wondering if SLS repair needs are why? Thank you kindly, beautiful car
@ferrari1971 Nice to have the plate with the sun. I have an ‘85 in the same color with the blue/gold plates.
It has the original plate from 1983 with the sun.
@dcraigk , In 1982, California plates were made white with blue lettering, and an optional sun graphic was added behind the state name. This plate was awarded “Plate of the Year” by the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association in 1983. The sun graphic was discontinued in 1987, You are correct about the side marker light, I ordered new white locking nuts from the classic center. That have since been installed.
Does it still have the blue plate? It looks like the front turn signal is falling out in #14.
