This set of Bosch W113 North American headlight doors are offered for sale as a New Old Stock (NOS) pair with the original Bosch boxes. These headlamp doors feature a single glass lens at the front, chrome trim rings, sealed blinker elements, and the internal moulded plastic bulb fixtures. Suitable for the W113 model produced between 1963 through 1971, these headlamp doors are good replacements for North American Pagodas with the sealed beam headlights. Also included are the yellow Bosch boxes that have been stored indoors with climate control. Made in Germany text is shown molded into the lenses. This set is located in Morgan Hills, California and may be shipped at the buyer's expense.
The original Bosch headlight doors show no wear and the plastic housing is free from any cracks or pitting. Factory part numbers for the headlight doors are present on the original yellow Bosch boxes reading 1 305 542 900 for both. The North American doors have the amber blinkers integrated into the bottom of the lens and show Made in Germany stamped on each.
The yellow Bosch boxes are included in the sale with the original part number stickers present. The seller notes no mold or water damage is present and they were stored indoors and in a climate controlled facility under their ownership. Detailed pictures of the backside of the doors are present and show no corrosion on the metal surfaces and the mounting brackets have no damage or wear as these are NOS pieces.
As Pagoda prices rise, so do all the parts costs associated with the W113. We’re lucky a lot of Pagodas have been kept in good shape as they never became cheap cars over the decades, but age, wear, and tear is something drivers cannot avoid. UV damage and heat can age out a headlight door and a rock at highway speeds can shatter a lens without warning. Finding a brand new original Bosch headlight door with the original Bosch boxes can be a score to someone who either needs a new headlight door or is restoring a Pagoda to concourse levels as a judge will absolutely be looking for Bosch stamps in the headlights. These doors can be the difference between first and second place at a judged event and we all know people want that blue ribbon.

Three types of USA headlights were used during production of W 113 cars: Type "AC" was used until 280SL Chassis 5607 (October 1968); Type "AN" used to 280SL Chassis 11947 (July 1969); and Type "AJ" used to the end of production. The face of each light is stamped with the style type. These are stamped "AJ" (see photo) so they are only correct for the late production 280SLs.I hate to be a total pain, but these are NORS, not NOS; production didn't move to the Czech Republic until after German reunification (the Czech Republic did not exist yet...) and thus well after W113 production had ended. In a show setting, judges probably wouldn't get nosey enough to pop one of these off and note the lack of a yellow "BOSCH Germany" sticker on the inside of the metal frame nor the fact that the back of the reflectors, which were bare metal on NOS units, are painted black on the NORS units - but in a pre-purchase inspection or an assessment by an auction house, those details would likely come to light. Are these excellent candidates for a show-quality restoration? Absolutely. But in absolute point of fact, they are not technically period-correct replacements.
