The original 3.0-liter Turbodiesel engine was swapped for a Euro 5.0L M117 V8 factory rated for 231 horsepower and 299 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The engine and transmission were donated from a Euro 1983 500SEC along with the 2.47 rear differential which had 176k miles. @StudioDude I am pretty sure they are just regular ole MB Tex. I will have the description updated, I didn’t notice it said leather.
Were the seats recovered? From photos seems like MB Tex, not leather.
@burden This car was originally from Nashville Tennessee where it lived there since I think 1991 per the old title. So the rust you see isn’t perforated and even the battery tray itself is still intact. Normally the seams on the inner fenders of these will rust in michigan, but this one is very solid. The body I can’t argue with, but it makes for a fun car nonetheless and you don’t have to worry about much while enjoying it on the road!
Interesting hotrod. Too bad tired body needs lot of work to remove rust and new paint. Engine bay rusty inner fenders look worrisome. Especially battery mount and coolant tank area.. That’ll be nice restoration project for right person.
