I remember living with one of these for a week a couple years ago. It's so hard to explain how amazing these are to spend time in. It's not just a bigger S-Class and it's SOOO FAR from being a W220 that they really don't feel anywhere near similar. The 62 is in a class of it's own with way more impressive build quality compared to the Phantom. Good luck!
Final day for this majestic Maybach. If anyone has questions or would like a live FaceTime tour today for a closer look please reach out, I'm happy to connect. Remember this was a nearly half-million dollar car when new, and it's virtually impossible to find a modern day equivalent!
Quick note that I just received a smog certificate for the Maybach and it’s ready to go. I was reminded of what a dream it is to drive; I think my blood pressure dropped 10 points just by settling into the seat. This Maybach is going to make its next caretaker very happy.

@Boatymcboatface Thanks for the comment , always nice to hear from you. Wonderful to hear Daimler is interested in keeping these cars alive. Regarding brakes and suspension we have records reflecting brake pressure reservoir replacements in May '18 ($3,328), an Airmatic spring replacement in May '19 ($3,798 in parts), and a steering damper in March of this year ($6,840 in parts); the brake fluid was also flushed a month ago. This of course is in addition to the other service records shown in the gallery. I've inquired into getting the VMI but Mercedes-Benz of San Diego requires in-person presentation of proof of ownership and we're based in Los Angeles.
This is really a very nice example of a well-optioned non-division 62. Great to see the flip-phone, remotes, headphones, cups, two-keys and the amazing Dunhill umbrella present. Often these are poorly presented with no documents, but its refreshing to see to find repair documentation to show it's been maintained. A VMI would be nice and while one could ask more questions finding a good W240 is not easy. The 07+ S facelift rims are a nice touch. The status of the breaks/calipers, front-end rubber/mounts and air-suspension system would be helpful. The alternator must have been rebuilt/replaced at this point as most that are still in use have been. In a recent conversation with the Mercedes Classic center, they have recognized the W240 in their restructuring as "Brand/Image Ambassadors" and corporate is committed to re-engaging suppliers for vital parts needed to keep these dinosaurs alive. German auto industry may be in a self-inflicted turmoil, but may the pursuit of excellence live on. Despite the costs these are the finest sedan built in the post-war period. That's a big statement, but one must live with one for a year to truly understand the vehicle and read the full story of the W240 to grasp how special these are and know it will never be done again. Wilhelm and Karl Maybach would have been proud. Get the good ones while you can!
Records have been added to the gallery.
Hi there, @MercedesDad. I am representing the current owner who has enjoyed this Maybach since 2018 and covered approximately 7k miles. While I can't speak directly for him, I know he's enjoyed the driving experience and still marvels at the 62's unique features, particularly the electrochromic roof. He has also taken excellent care of his beloved Maybach, with over $40k in service receipts (which will be uploaded shortly). I've driven the car a bit over the past few weeks and feel it's just as impressive as it was when introduced. As a current C140 owner and previous W140 owner I'm a big fan of cars that feel special. As those who know know, Maybachs leveraged the W140 platform (hence the V240 chassis designation), as it was more robust than subsequent generations and is therefore better suited for extended wheelbase duty. I reviewed the car as an automotive journalist back when it was new (and MSRPs easily reached $500k), and find its level of engineering and execution of quality impressive to this day. Hope that helps.
@B_R_W Hello Sir! So are you the owner who according to Carfax purchased the car in 10/24/2014? Would you mind describing your ownership experience of 10+ years? Asking for a friend :)

@sirmathrocks Hi , the electrotransparent roof functionality can be seen in the video above. To jump directly to demonstration, click here: https://youtu.be/VY-Pe4EDTbM?si=4SB1srdVZSiRxFmx&t=204
Can you show a video of the roof opaque/transparent function working?

Very special cars indeed! The partition is great but not for everyone, especially drivers seeking decent legroom. Just ask Tyler Hoovie (of Hoovie’s Garage fame) who mentioned it in one of his videos. Question is @ArmyGuy63, what do you follow your Maybachs with?
These cars are great! If only it had the partition!! These were meant to be driven around in, chauffeured by your own private driver! After the series 57 & 62 I had a 2016 V12 Maybach, but they were just an elongated S class at that point. Still a great car but didn't stand out like these. Most modern homes don't even have a garage long enough to put them in! GLWTA!
Welcome to our 2004 Maybach 62 auction. We’ve prepped this very special model for sale by giving it a thorough detail and going through it mechanically; anything that has needed attention has been addressed. Its twin-turbo 5.5-liter V12 and 5-speed 722.6 transmission function flawlessly, and all comfort features from the electrotransparent roof to the rear entertainment system and the power operated curtains operate as they should. Included are many extras including both keys, 2 Maybach champagne flutes, 2 Maybach tumblers, the original Maybach umbrella, both rear pillows, and both Motorola flip phones. We wouldn’t hesitate to drive this elegant elongated sedan cross country—in fact, we’d love to. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
ABSOLUTE masterpiece. The automotive equivalent of a mic drop.
