Shouldn't this car have headlight wipers??
Can you confirm the color? The window stickers shows Arctic White not Cirrus.
"individually adjustable rear view mirrors" .... what? As opposed to synchronised rear view mirrors?
@TheLavskiThat's great thank you! Do you know roughly what mileage is on all the mods?
Do you have dyno sheets? How did you come up with the 800hp figure? Gorgeous car!! TIA!
Very cool! Looks like a great starting point for a mild restoration to get it back up driving (and looking) 100%.
Wow what a time capsule!
I hope you put rags between that nice Ferrari paint and those tires when you took that photo! Yikes!
This is a stunning spec SL and deserves all the money. Brunei cars are usually just epic. Waiting for the day where one of the station wagon 7.3L W140 conversions comes up for sale.
Gorgeous car! Spitting image of our S65. Such a classy color combo. GLWS!
Very nice build! love the white on blue. The quilting pattern is a bit much for me personally. The level of craftsmanship that went in to this build is next level. Gorgeous car! Sounds great in the videos too! GLWS!
@GhailanNo it does not meet US import requirements
Taurus tires eh? Why put cheap junk tires on a car that deserves so much more?
@tauchapter1981You don't. It's too new to be imported unfortunately.
@AE327AMG cars have provenance, heritage, brand recognition, and a widespread following. This, while an incredible car, is just a modded W126 at the end of the day. Like trying to compare a 360 to an Enzo. Two different things.
@TonsOfGasAgreed.
49k miles is low? 4,900 would be low. This is just not high (100k+). Nice presentation though.
@DW168 Yes. In fact, any other color than white and I would have been interested.
@Ronald1967It's not. They built around 100 of these
Popcorn will be stale by the time this is over. $500 bids at a time. Good grief.
In what alternate universe? Last 30k mile S7X's that came up were both needing to be imported from overseas and were just under $200k. This makes no sense.
6 minutes left and $70k? This needs to nearly triple in price to make sense selling.
This car does have a phone. It's integrated into the infotainment system.
@rbassousHarnesses can go bad even on these updated cars. We just rebuilt the harnesses on a 1997 S600. 90k miles. Texas history. Chances are, with miles this low, the harnesses are fine. They are rebuildable though, so not something to be scared of.
"four place multicontour seating package" What are you doing MB market? This is not a four-place seating car. This has a rear bench seat. Further down you mention that it has a folding rear center console. No, it does not have that either--it has a folding rear seat armrest. Two different things. This listing is a mess.
Registration has no bearing on what year a car is. This car claims to have been built in November of 1995. That makes this a 1996. Why is it listed as a 1997 MB Market?
This should have sold. Not really an AMG car. Just a body kit and wheels. 6k miles is pretty low and it sounds well sorted from RT. Who cares that some kid took pictures in it. He didn't own it.
Do all the accessories work--front lumbar, rear heated/power seats, etc? How is the suede interior to live with? Does it grab your clothes like the velour upholstery or is it easier to slide in and out? Are there any other areas of paint damage besides the scratch in the driver side rear quarter panel? Any interior odors? How does the engine run? Thanks!!
@PerVennemoeThat's great, thank you!!
How is the undercarriage? Any signs at all of rust/corrosion? Even on exhaust/suspension components?
Wow, four place seating in a W126--that is so cool!
@SwissBliss No offense taken! I have zero interest in aftermarket mods as they hold little to no value.
@TheAMGKitNo, I am not interested in custom. AMG only.
These are fantastic, but missing a lot. Do you have the downpipes, heat shields, exhaust brackets that are needed to fit these to a car? If not, are any of those pieces available from Mercedes? I have an 83 500se these headers would go on.
$50k with an hour left? Huh?
Puts these at almost $3k shipped, which is a more than fair number. Should have sold.
@ccutler05A manual swap would be a great idea.
I remember this car from ebay. Had a very high asking price for the miles and state of the undercarriage. Staying tuned...
So it's a Brabus car with an AMG motor? Or is it an AMG car with a Brabus bodykit? Or is it a mashup? Confusing presentation--hopefully not intentionally so.
Perfect car for Curated to resurrect! Needs some big money spent on it to get it back up and working (and presentable), but well worth the investment. Can't see these ever depreciating.
The rear bumper is repainted, and doesn't match the rest of the car. It also appears that the front bumper does not match the paint color perfectly either?
What is that massive hunk of metal in picture #101 near the air intake tube?
I wish the Patina Collective would just go away. I'll leave it at that. But yes the 5.4 was a pretty good deal. Imagine, a little over 10 years ago I paid $12k for my 2V SOHC 6L C126 AMG. Still have the car. God knows what it's worth now.
I saw this car in person up in monterey last week and can attest to the overall quality/appearance of this car. Very well put together and looks great in person. Don't know what people are saying the headliner is falling on your head and some jibberish about the steering wheel leather being reupholstered over old leather. Ignore those comments. This is an excellent car and won't disappoint. Also, the concord? Not sure if serious...
Sellers are delusional. The market has cooled off slightly in the last few weeks. Fine by me. Also, second the comment about this not selling for more than the documented and genuine 5.4 W126 from RM last week. I was there and bidding on the silver 6L, but the price went crazy. The silver 4V 6L car was idling horribly. Sounded okay at higher RPMS, but who knows what that could cost to fix. I was honestly a little surprised at the black 5.4L result. It was a pretty clean car and low miles.
Still kind of misrepresenting this car. This is a 560SEL that has a slew of AMG parts that were probably just purchased off ebay. Don't get me started on the mods. To liken this car to an original pre merger AMG is pretty blasphemous. This is a quality, MODIFIED, car. Not a true W126 AMG.
180,000...dollars? Can't be...must be monopoly money. These bodykits are still available from Koenig last I heard. This car does not have an upgraded M120. Besides being relatively low miles there is nothing special about this car. The seller must be laughing all the way to the bank on this one. I'm lost for words.
@germancars Comparing apples to oranges saying that the M119 harnesses are easy to source. I called MB Classic in Irvine as well as my local MB dealer trying to source a couple harnesses for two M120 W140's within the past couple of months. Both cars, uppper and lower harnesses are NLA.
@gsxrActually, the updated insulation can eventually fail as well. I have a 1996 S600 that I've removed the harness from because the grounds and blower motor wiring insulation has failed. And I have a 1997 S600 that I've had to pull the harnesses from as well because the insulation is becoming brittle. I specifically looked for 1996+ W140's because of the pre-1996 soybean coated harnesses that do fail. The '96+ were not supposed to suffer from this issue. However, due to age and the sustained high engine bay temps from these M120 motors, even the updated wiring can fail. So, buyers beware. I found a couple of places that will rebuild wiring harnesses, so I am now looking at all years of M120 powered W140s.
Seller: Have the wiring harnesses been replaced? The parts are NLA and the car will become undriveable if they have not been replaced.
Seller: what is the state of the wiring harnesses? Have the engine bay harnesses been replaced?
The wood and leather steering wheel was factory equipment on the S600's
ebay-specials center caps and non color matched wheels...
Why is the front suspension so low? Are the shocks shot? Replacement shocks are nearly impossible to source as they are AMG specific. Do you have a photo of the front passenger door sill? Is there any evidence of prior rear end damage?
