WOW - I am in Marietta as well and would love to come see this. About 8 years ago, I purchased the exact same car (first owner) but was a 1993 and grey exterior from the first owner, but sold it soon as we were expecting our first child. Good cars, but from my experience
popcorm time
Hi - can you confirm if the AC is working? - also, any leaks?
Damn - I am out, don't like the fake AMG badge :(
Great Looking car -- but while the pics looks good, it may not be reflection of reality and we are bidding remotely just on what we see. With shadow of trees and reflection of sun in an evening setting does not help. Some of these pics will not be approved in other auction sites.
As someone who owns 2 of these - 1991 Black on Tan 5 speed and 1990 Black on Black 5 speed, I can tell you these cars are just amazing. There is a typo in the listing, it is not 32 valve, it is 24 valve (4 valves per cylinder)
Wow - my first 190E with a 5 speed I paid $500 -- that's it. I lived in Philadelphia and the car was in NY, the owner never mentioned it being a 5 speed thinking it will turn potential buyers away. I loved everything about it and sold it in 6 months for $2500. Since then, have owned a Euro 190 (no fuel injection) - 4 speed, and two 190D five speeds and love everything about them. Will be bidding here, like I need another manual benz..
Going to Need Tires soon. Would have been nice if with the oil change, the tires were addressed too.
@Dawerks Thanks much!! - always been wanting one and if I win, this will be a life long dream come true. Sorry for being a pain but can you share the inspection report done by the dealer, interested to know what is currently not working or will need attention soon, some things that come to mind: 1) Does the AC work and is it cold? -- we live in Atlanta and needed for the Family b) Any Electrical issues like - Cruise control / All Power windows are operational? c) Any Leaks - Oil, Transmission fluid, Power Steering fluid? d) Stake of Suspension / Brakes e) Or anything that I should know of so it is not a surprise.
Hi - Few things please. 1) Videos - Cold Start and Driving through the gears - just concerned how she goes along the gears and b) Surely a 1995 with some painting done over the years, I do see white spots on the hood and some other places, I assume, this is paint chipping away?
Congrats... Prezes84
Wow - talk about being on GAS :)
I want to see if this can beat the CDI - tough choice between both of them
@KingKittya quick google search indicates that "These can be found on the block, cylinder head, transmission case, differential housing, and other cast iron parts. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle they can be located in different areas" ---- I am not sure if this is easily accessible, or it is common information that can is easily available like VIN# or in a Mercedes manual. Can you direct me where and how I can obtain this for you?
@KingKitty - you are welcome to stop by and see the car to address any questions you may have. I can also offer to do a video call anytime tomorrow or Monday. As for oil consumption, I check the level and never had to top off, I am sure there is some burning, being a 35+ year diesel with over 150K miles.
@CaliFreshThanks!! - the color is what really attracted me to the car. Nelson Mandela had a Red W126 which is now displayed in his museum in Johannesburg. I went there for a school assignment, but for three hours just stood and admired his Red W126, needless to say, did not get a good grade in the class. Fast forward 10+ years, I come across this, with the added benefit of no rust, matching interior, working AC and long ownership history, I was sold. I am downsizing the collection, and hence why this is here.
@silkyatl - Hi - Let me answer all of them. Accidents - None. Clean Carfax. Motor - Running fine Tranny - Has been replaced with a new transmission. There is a seal on the transmission with a date code. I remember seeing this clearly when I purchased. The car goes through all the gear and depends on how fast / slow you are shifting gears, you will see / hear the progression of gears in different rpms. Wood Trim - yes, there is some cracking, please zoom on interior pics All Windows working, the front passenger is intermittent - sometimes, when I press the button in a certain way it works. I am going to check it this weekend. Heater and AC is working Oil leaks - none on the ground, there is old oil smudge in the lower areas of the engine, I have never had to top off in my ownership. I am sure there is some seepage Smoking from Exhaust pipes - can you be little more specific please, do you mean, does the engine burn oil?
All - quick update, the front passenger window is a lose switch connection. It is operational at times, probably the contacts needs to be cleaning. I will check and can have it fixed it before the sale.
Hello All - I am the seller of this car and more than happy to provide any background and answer questions relating to this car. Thanks and happy bidding.
As a owner of three Euro W123's - a) Euro 280E b) Euro 300D 4 speed manual and c) Euro 300TD Wagon 5 speed, I am still interested in this :)
Hello - I am local to you, can I come see it?
when I saw this car, @Blueridge came to mind, if you are from the Atlanta area or know of him, you will understand why he wants this so bad. @Bluerigdge, nice to see you bidding the top $$ here :) - I have some rare Mercedes for your big $$ pockets :)
This car is so 'Crisp' - pun intended
Please correct listing title, this is a 230CE and not 280CE
Second Appearance... let's see what happens this time :)
Thanks all -- we were really close. Hopefully can make it work
Hello All - thanks for the bids, countdown to the auction is now on. While I have few meetings today, going to make sure I answer all questions or concerns timely. Happy Bidding...
@squasherplease see pictures of the two Mercedes OEM stereos I have. I can include any of them with the sale. Let me know if you have any more questions.
@squasherI do have one but seems it is from a later period, not OEM to W123 but a early 90's - let me take a picture and share it here
Cold Start Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffmFLs_5cIY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhaEnF0ZjHU This is a driving video, for you to see she pulls strong and the Turbo kicks in good
@HunterSieg20 Thanks -- and working odometer, many a times, with these high miles, the plastic levers break and then you are in unknown territory
Hello All - Below is some more information that can help. It took me an extremely long time to find a 85 (last year - desired) rust free Wagon with documented miles. I got this car earlier last year, while COVID was at the peak, bad idea to venture out of the house, but I could not resist. Since my ownership, first thing I did was change the fluids and filters, then full detail and paint correction, followed by changing valve gasket, oil plan and oil pan gasket. I also have changed many other small things here and there as wanted to keep this as long as I could. I have used this car even to drop my girls to school and taken the family for picnics and weekend trips. Anyways, things changed, as I recently acquired a 85 Euro Wagon with a 5 speed transmission and hence this is for sale. While my 85 Euro has rust, been in an accident, has been repainted and all, I am keeping the Euro for now and hence the 85 US Turbo is for sale. Both the wagons participated at the Mercedes Automotive world record this past weekend, and not only were they the only W123's representing this community of world class cars. I am happy to answer any questions, speak over the phone and even if you want to do an independent inspection.
@GA_BCOHello - Just responded to your message, you can call me, and or stop by to see the car anytime.
@BaileystuffHello it is and just glued in with easy removal. I initially was not a fan of it when my detailer added it on but have grown to like it now. Note, this was added on just 3 to 4 months ago and can be removed if needed.
So much want for this car ---- oh well, if I did not already have two Mercedes Diesel wagons, I would be all over this
@Joeg -- Congrats. If you change your mind let me know, or if you want to sell down the line. I have been following this and last min had to step out :(
Oh my -- following for days and then last min distraction... what a loss... Congrats buyer
@PKDavidson- Thanks much! - I had the exact same car in Silver that I sold earlier last year and boy I miss it.
Hello - four things please. a) Can you explain the picture where the dash has been taken out 2) All windows work? 3) How is the paint on the hood, seems there are cracks in paint and 4) What engine oil have you been using?
