This Dutch-ordered 1991 Mercedes-Benz 250TD Diesel Wagon was originally sold by Ruttchen Mercedes-Benz in Veghel, Netherlands in August 1990 before making its way to Spain and Portugal in the 2000s. It was imported to the US in 2016 and subsequently acquired by the late seller in South Carolina. This S124 is finished in Pearl Black Metallic (199) paint and the original Black Cloth (061) interior has been replaced with Black leather (271) Recaro W124 sport seats in the front and rear with matching door cards. Power is provided by a 2.5-liter OM602 diesel inline-five paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, roof rails, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, electric sliding sunroof with tilt, central pneumatic locking, heat insulating glass, heated rear window pane, and the towing package. The attached carfax shows no damage or other accidents since reporting began for the US in 2016. It now shows only 128,576 Kms (~79k Miles), 20k miles of which having been added by the late seller since 2017. This manual diesel wagon is offered in Connecticut on behalf of the late seller by AMMO NYC at No Reserve following a week-long, intensive cosmetic detailing. The sale includes manufacturer’s literature, one key, a set of four Cocomats, and a clean South Carolina title. Note that the winning bidder will have the opportunity to appear in an upcoming AMMO NYC video with the car.
The car is finished in Pearl Black Metallic (199) with light gray lower body cladding and features painted mirror caps, hood ornament, factory roof rails, front monowiper and a rear window wiper. Factory Euro spec lights are present along with euro clear corner lights and front plate bracket. The paint presents very nicely overall having just undergone an extensive paint correction and detail by Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC. Rock chips are visible on the front fascia and the lower cladding shows light scrapes and evidence of previous touch-ups to remediate imperfections. The tow hook cover on the front bumper is missing and corrosion is present on the rear passenger fender corner by the lower cladding. Detailed photos are viewable in the gallery below.
OEM eight-hole 15″ alloy wheels are wrapped in 205/65 Michelin Defender tires showing 2017 date codes. Minor imperfections on the wheels are viewable in the gallery below.
The original Black Cloth (061) interior has been replaced with Black leather (271) Recaro W124 sport seats in the front and rear with matching door cards and carpets. The rear Recaro Sport bench seat is correct for S124 wagon application and features a 60/40 folding split with mounting points for the OEM cargo cover on the rear seatbacks. Zebrano wood trim accents the center console, dash, and doors and cracks are visible in the wood surrounding the matching black leather-clad 5-speed manual shift knob. Amenities include dual-zone climate control, manual windows, pneumatic central locking, an aftermarket Philips head unit, and a rear heated glass window w/washer function. The seller notes that all electronics are in working order and the A/C blows cold as designed.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 200-km/h speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an inset clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 128,576 Kms (~79k miles).
The 2.5-liter OM602 diesel inline-five is factory rated at 94 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque and sends power to the rear wheels through a 717.4 5-speed manual transmission. The car runs, shifts and reportedly drives very well with no suspension noises or notable leaks present.
A very thorough video tour of the vehicle from Larry at AMMO NYC - including footage of the exhaustive detail - is viewable below.

Greetings from Long Island. I have enough questions and interest in this wagon that I prefer to speak with you. What documents come with the car, do you have the title, and is it subject to an estate order for executor to sign the title? Can the car be seen and delivered in NY? What is and is not working on this car? Your video did not demonstrate, radio, A/C, lights or anything else but a dead battery. You did mention the car was in storage for years, filthy and had mold! Was the mold properly remediated or will the next users get sick? So please reply with your phone number. Thank you.

@h2o_snow @th_boone Hey guys. Thanks for the questions. I haven’t taken it on the highway or an onramp, but driving it around town has been excellent. The car feels nice and tight given the super low miles (relative for one of these) and the suspension/steering/shifting is excellent. It’s no racecar, but having the manual makes a huge difference in feel and performance. Both this car, and the 300CD I previously listed on The MB Market, are rated as similarly sluggish from the factory, but having three pedals goes a long way to offsetting that in this amazing little wagon. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it every day but would certainly do fresh fluids, brakes, consumables, etc. before putting it into daily duty....as with any classic. To be fair, I’m no diesel expert and my daily driver wagon is a Taycan, but I’m sure a skilled manual driver could use this everyday with no concerns about the acceleration from a safety perspective. I hope that helps. I’ll try to answer more questions but I’ve got a busy week rescuing some steam-powered antique Stanleys so I’ll try to pop back in when possible. The wagon’s owner was a great guy and this will sell at NO RESERVE so bid to win! Thanks again and Good Luck to all bidders!
Absolutely incredible car & spec. I am wondering the same as @h2o_snow. I had a 300d '92 once upon a time, but other experience in recent/current years is my 240D and e320CDI. Opposite ends of the spectrum in speed, but wondering where this one falls in between.
Beautiful. Time to stick our toe in the water. @AMMONYC Practical question as a western sportwagon family. <100 hp but: a MT. Have you driven? If so: how is acceleration? ie in your neck of the woods - merging on the Taconic State Parkway. Also.......reasonable cruising speed and rpm? Thanks and GLWA.

OMG the Holy Grail.

Wow, no words
Whoa - this is practically engine break-in period mileage for an OM602... and its a wagon.... and its a manual... and its European Spec... and it has Recaro sport seats... and its 199! Tremendously cool example, gents. GLWA!
@OldMB Thank you. The rear headrests are not with the vehicle. Photos/vids of the tow hitch and underbody/suspension coming over the next 24-36 hours and will be added to the listing. No third row seating - there's a storage compartment under the rear floor (where the third row would normally be) as per the listing description. Photographs of this storage compartment are in the gallery as well (See photos #237-238). Also, the fuse box cover IS present and in good shape. I just forgot to put it back when I was taking photos. Thanks again and Good Luck, bidders!
Are the rear seat headrests included? Do you have a photo of the "towing package"? I assume it is the Euro style hitch. Is there a third row seat?

Hi Larry I may want to come by this weekend and check out the car. Are you available? If so, when? Thanks. John

Better verify those engine specs. The 602.912 is 90 HP @ 114 lb-ft according to factory specifications. Doesn't anyone check this sort of stuff before the auction goes up?

Interesting that the passenger side headlight lens is correct (RHT, photo 47) but the driver side lens in photo 50 is for LHT (UK/Japan). Easy to fix though. Love the Sport seats (super rare on a wagon), a previous owner must have upgraded them, as they aren't on the datacard. https://www.lastvin.com/vin/nNMKJ2PyW8PAvQgBl Really neat car - GLWS!
