I would encourage honesty and transparency on this site. This car changed from Km to Mas at "some point". It appears to me that whatever mileage was on this vehicle at that point is missing. Look at the Driver Seat Bolster! If the Oda was replaced in 1987 this vehicle could easily have 200K Km on the Autobahn in Germany. I would suggest Buyers be ware. This just don't pass the "smell test". I would ask for documents from the 1987 import showing mileage prior to or at import, plus annual service statements since. What is the true mileage of this vehicle? Paint, Interior and engine compartment etc is not pristine as you would find on a collector from 1981, even after being re-painted. This vehicle smells "fraud".
Good luck to high bidder. Car is probably worth all and more!
How about the ABC? Any warning lights? Any sweating from the hydraulic suspension? Has the suspension been replaced? At the current age & Mileage this would normally be due.
I quoted the definition found on the internet. I was not making a statement on value but encourage you to bid on the vehicle and not haggle on the definition. The main statement that this is not a clear or clean title stands. I am bidding on the vehicle and wish the seller the best luck in selling.
Definition on a clean title includes what R129hoarder correctly stated BUT ALSO that the car does not have a lien placed on it, and therefore has a slightly higher resale value! So my stetement previously is correct.
This generation MB had hydraulic suspension on all corners. This is a very expensive repair that all these cars will have to go through considering both age and mileage. I have recently completed the same work on a 2005 SL500 with only 56K on the odo. So my questions are: -have this care received new suspension on the front or all 4 any time? -if not, are any of the hydraulic suspension leaking or sweating? My understanding is that the hydraulic pump also supports the power steering and therefore is very essential for proper maintenance and repair.
O see the cat back exhaust has ben replaced recently. This car had a dual tip exhaust when new I recall. I wonder why a different look cat back exhaust was chosen when everything else seem to be as much stock as possible, as this changes the “look” of the car? This obviously was not chosen for enhancing performance. Was this chosen to save money?
The text says it has a clean title. However, it also says there is a lien on the vehicle. You cant have a clean title when there is a lien on the title.
I just can’t understand why such a vehicle has had this many owners with such low mileage. This really boggles me. Why would this top of the line MB not “stick” with any of the number of previous owners? Is the vehicle “cursed”?
I am curious: are there any service records available? Also, would it be possible to retrieve the 2nd (spare) key fob and/or a valet key fob for the vehicle?
Ok, so the description is wrong where it says approx 40 was added by the selling dealer.!?
So 40K miles added by current dealer? Does that mean the 3 prior owners only added 3K to the vehicle in spite of being reg in CA, UT @ NY before returning to CA? Does the car fly? I dont understand the mileage?
Who currently holds title and registration to the vehicle, since you are implying a couple of transfers but the car still sits on Idaho plates?
Looks like the exhaust was recently replaced?
The car is missing both headlamp wiper arms. Are the wipers just missing and need to be replaced or do the wiper motors not work? Does the head lights wiper wash work (spray)?
@LionHeart Hi, is the old school cell phone that is mounted on the center console still in working condition? If not why has it not been removed? Will removing it leave holes in the side panel on the center console? Where is the main unit mounted? Is it kept for “nostalgic reasons”?
@mbheritage You have “owned” 75 of these cars? You mean as a dealer flipping them or actually owning the privately and driving them? So, with that experience, if this car is so great, then why are you selling her? Are you simply buying and selling these cars(flipping them)? Do you have other cars of the same mode for sale, maybe a 560?
When fid the vehicle last pass state inspection? Are any service codes present?
Thank you
Your answers tell me how little you know about cost of owning and repairing a vehicle like this. I am a car collector and I have done several MB restorations, none of wick sounded as simple as described by you. Personally I think you are full pg smoke and that you have no clue what the cost of R22 is today! . You are better off to say you dont know than give BS ansvers!
Do you have an estimate of fixing the A/C, alternatively converting it? If not why? Seems like you have taken care of most everything else with this vehicle, The speedometer has a wire connection I believe. Have you tried to repair the bouncing speedometer needle? If not why? Do you have an estimate on replacement of the steering wheel? Are any original replacement parts available? Was the steering box leak fixed? It is a bit unclear in your listing description as it says there is a steering box leak, but that this has been addressed. Is it fixed?. Any attempts to repair the crack in the dash. If any attempts to repair the items above is there a quote/cost estimate available, again since seller decided bot to complete these repairs. The tires have 2015 date codes. 8 years old! Is there any visible dry totting:cracking at all due to age? I have the 2nd highest bid and before I consider continuing bidding I would appreciate answers to the best of your ability.
Hate VT. Spent 18months in S. woodstock. Talk about back country! Need 4WD to get anywhere in mud season. Again: who the hells want to live there?
Why is the speedometer “hicking up”? Does thar imply odo errors?
My friends dad had this car. Slightly different color combo, but this is a statement vehicle like few.
Is there an estimate available for a/c repair? How long has the a/c been non-functioning?
repeat question for seller: Has any work been done to the suspension. It seems from the stands of the vehicle that it sits low on the rear indication "tired" rear suspension. Any leaks in the suspension?
repeat question for seller: What part of this vehicle is AMG?
What part of this Car is AMG?
I would like to see what the guys who dont want to see rhe peanut gallery are bidding? HJSarafian? Are you the Peanut Gallery?
Peanut gallery are you guys commenting but not bidding btw!
How is rhe rear suspension? It seems like it sits low on the :rear”. Has either front/rear or both been replaced? When and at what mileage? Is there an estimate available for the SRS code/-light repairs?
Owned two of these in the past. Love how they drive, even thought performance is very modest compare to todays standards. As a collector that is less important to me. So I am in the game, for now…..
You are welcome. I hate when these guys play around with incremental bids. Love this car.

Until there is a legal outcome such comments exposes the individual posting them to legal responsibility for publicly bashing somebody without legal proof. If in doubt use a local appraiser or go see the vehicle in person unless you can send an agent on your behalf. I have experienced a similar situation as “Tedsbenz” is posting when buying a 1974 BMW 2002 back in 2017. What I received was “wreck” and nowhere close to my expectations from the posting on eBay. I do appreciate your "story" and well aware of who Klinsmann is, as well as the car. I purchased a CL500 for my late wife the same year here in TX. While not the same car performance wise, it was the same body style and behaved like a "tank". It was a fairly rare car then, and even more so now. The complaint from her re this vehicle was that it has a huge blindspot due to the roof line/design. I had to buy her a Porsche 911 as a 2nd driver and kept this for a few years until I traded it in another Mercedes Sedan. Unfortunately the trade in/sales price dropped like the car it was, like a "tank", with less than 20K miles on the ODO. Sadly but this car is in Cannes/FRA, and not in the US It would be nice to buy it, take a long road trip in Europe and then sell it or eave it there or park it with friends/family. That all depends on sellers price expectation. I personally don't find it worth shipping to the US as the market appreciation does not warrant such investment, in my opinion. Good luck selling. It is a well preserved 26 year old car and in most countries (also outside EU) should qualify as Antique/collector vehicle thus less or no import duties.
Appreciate all the details. Now it is jus a car. The calue is in the car andnot who once “almost” owned it
fit.....
Do these first a 2005 SL500?
I had a 2005 of this car in silver. Sold it a bit prematurely in exchange for a Jeep Wrangler. Unfortunately the values on these sink like a rock and Mercedes dealers do not support(trade value) the AMG brand after the car hits 5 years or 50k on the odo. But it is a fun and fast toy.
I would appreciate some more info regarding status of suspension on the vehicle. When and if were the struts replaced? What brand is the suspension and have they been replaced (front and rear)? What is the current condition of the suspension both front and rear.
How is the suspension on the car? Is it coil-over? It seemed s bit soft on the first speed bump.? Any new suspension parts?
Thank you for your detailed answer. I totally appreciate the point about reliability.
The instrumentation looks like it has been replaced (from a 55 or 63AMG)? Is that correct, or was this an option when new? What year and at what mileage were all the performance upgrades done? Any documentation available? What year and at what mileage were all the front end suspension repairs done? Is there any “sweating” or leaks from the rear suspension. Does the ABC light ever come on in bumps or high speed/curves?
Sorry, I had missed the info re upgraded throttle body in the description. It is there! Thank you.
Is there a Dyno sheet after the engine modifications. Any estimate on new hp and torque? Has the throttle body been upgraded? Is the ECU re-tuned with upgrades?
Thanks for all your responses. I i understand you are a Lady. Now it is all faith for me if I get the car. I am on BBC a B limited budget, but would move to continue to take care of your car.!
Thank you for your response.
Is there no problem with yhe other 3 leaking or the ABC light coming on in hard bumps?
Thank you. I will take the oil.😜 If I should win the car of course. I am an avid collector anf]d have several MB, also older SL’s. I change oil every year as I hardly drive them at all, and mileage dont count. Oil gets expensive in volume. Some of my trucks take 13 qts. I have severall trucks also, some from the 60’s and 70’s. So I got my own lift and shop with a mechanic and we do everything ourselves, including ABC system repairs and head gaskets. Have you repaired/replaced the hydraulic suspension on this car? Have you replaced the hydraulic pump? If so what year and mileage?
Looks like the hydraulic suspension has been replaced. Is this correct and were all 4 corners replaced? Where was this work? Was the pump also replaced for the ABC system. Are these repairs under warranty? Btw you can get a paper plate from your local dmv to go fix the sound system if it is such a quick easy fix. First time I have seen anybody take out the head lights to show detailing of vehicle. Have you adjusted the headlights after removing and re-installing the bi-xenon headlights? Lastly, what was the extent of the accident/repairs in 2010?
Why is the engine gasket oil leak repair kit and all the oil in your trunk?
How does s V8 become a V12? Cloning! Hahaha I am bidding on the car and the first thing I would do was to rip the fake badging off!
Explain that!
Does the owner have an estimate to repair yhe sound system?
Is’s a 500 V8! Not a 600 V12! Did Napoleon walk by?!Lol
Is this not enough to meet hour reserve? This plus charges for shipping and fees? Cone on?
Listen guys, Negative comments from people that are not even bidding is stupid. “I dont like your wife either”! It is all about personal views and interest. If you dont like the car then save your comments. If you have specific info of interest to share, come on,,,,, This car is unique, and that is why I an interested. As a car collector I choose not to buy mainstream cars, if possible. The undercarriage shows the car has been in the East and has a lot of surface rust. This car is by no means a show condition vehicle. Take off the “lipstick” and you have a basic 2001 600cl. Nothing had been done to engine, brakes suspension or exhaust. The suspension is hydraulic and cost about 1Grand ea corner, plus the pump and all labor. I have replaced these on several cars from the same era (Mercedes SL’s as well as Jaguars). As selective as I am I am aware of the cost of ownership of something like this. If you are not, dont bid. I actually dislike the color and would prefer a paint job. But the Lorinzer body kit and the sound system is awesome. So I will see you guys down the road. The car does have potential, such as bi-turbo upgrade with cold air intake and new ceramic headers and exhaust.
